I haven't yet but it is in my top 10 on my bucket list. Had a couple of great nite dives, tho nothing recent, & it it such an amazingly different world down there at nite. Is your plan to go when it's dark & just see what you can bring back, or are you going to try & find one of those moonlit lobster walks? I'd love to just see one of those.

be careful of sharks! If your going in malibu anytime in Oct I woul not advise it bc that's when all of the great whites come to the pacific for the salmon & it's their season

I would LOVE to do this! I fish everywhere I go but have never caught a lobster.

^ I can vouch on the shark thing too. I've caught one at night around Oceanside CA.

yup I love them but dam they are scary creatures

Great to see so many SW ladies dive!
Agree about night diving, Aniela. I happen to like it, but I get that it's not for everybody. I've had nothing but positive experiences, including a couple close encounters with octopus and tarpon.
Now, about great whites in October--good note, xxxGothBarbie! I'm definitely going to check with some other divers/dive shops about that before getting in the water. Actually, I want a day dive in the area first, given that it's a shore entry and I'm a stranger to these parts.
There isn't much diving around here, unless you include a water-filled rock quarry and the occasional, expensive, dry-suit dive in Lake Michigan. Ugh. I'd rather save up my money for a trip somewhere warm. Speaking of night dives, I just got back from HI (first trip), where I did the nighttime giant manta dive in Kona. Excellent.

the pacific is freezing cold btw, it's not warm by any means lol. Yea I've seen stories where 2 great whites attacked & ate this guy that was diving for abilone snails but I think that was when he was on the surface... The danger zones would be descending first then returning to the surface as far as the sharks go. If your gonna have experienced divers with you then I wouldn't worry so muchGood Luck out there!

^^ Absolutely. The most danger re: sharks is at the surface. As for the cold, I'm told a 7mm, plus a hood, gloves and a vest is suitable.

No, but I check for bearded clams

^^ Whirlerz. OMG. You're still here, still posting. Terrific. It's been years. Still selling outfits in the clubs?

yea true ^ It's scary but I think it'll be quite liberatingI wanted to visit San Fran in the future & take one of those shark toursout to the Farralon Islands & they chum the waters & all of these giant great whites come close to the boat & swim around, sounds so cool! Plus it's a whale watching tour as well

^ xxxGothBarbie, you know hammerheads favor the open-water, and they school. So you have to dive over blue water and they come up out of the darkness below you. Not sure I could handle that, honestly.

yea me either that shit sounds scary!
