    Default Microlink Hair Extensions

Anybody tried them and liked them? Or tried them and wasn't happy? I got my hair cut short a week or so ago (it was chemically fried and I cut off the last bit of damaged hair)..and I hate it. I'm debating getting extensions put in to save face through the grow out period and just wanted to know what your past experiences were with them. I'm an extension virgin so I'm open to any/all advice.

I have had microlinks several times in the past. Make sure the microlinks are coated with silicone if not the metal can cut your hair and cause more damage. Right now I have a Colombian friend that does the brazilian knot extensions and I am super happy with them and my hair has grown out but Microlinks are quick in less than 2 hours and worst case if you dont like them or are not happy you can have them removed in less than 30mins.

I meant silicone inside of the rings.

What's a normal price to pay? This one lady I found (who has an entire portfolio of past clients, all of which look amazing) wants to charge $300/full head not including the hair itself. Plus what's a customary tip to give to someone spending so much time on extensions?
I wanted to try the microlinks as I read they are the most safe on hair, and can blend in well. I'd get my natural shade (auburn) down to about the middle of my back. I miss my long hair and extensions would be a fun way to not have to deal with the awkward grow out phase. Lol

300 full head is cheap! I pay 1400 for my extensions but they are so worth it. A TON of hair extensionists rip girls off!!!!!! That 'human hair' isn't really human hair..it is stripped with an artificial Chinese coating to make it look silky...and then it will have a Velcro effect the first time you wash it. Also, it takes around 8 hours to have my hair done...I have very thick hair, but a really good extension job should NOT only take an hour or two.

300 for a full head of microlinks without hair is not cheap. I have had absolutely every kind of hair extension. You have to be VERY careful with your microlinks when you are brushing your hair and since you need length more than bulk you will need links everywhere. If you have fine hair they will not hold very well and may show through on the top. My preferred extension is a sew-in. You do need to do your research and find someone who can do caucasian hair.

    How short is your hair?
    What color is it?
what type of hair do you have?

I would suggest that you buy your own hair. Remy hair isn't good for micro links. I buy virgin Indian hair online depending on the length the price varies. I had a full head of micro link extensions done in 3 hours and I paid $850Right now the technique I have in I used 4 and a half packs for hair and I paid $3000 but that takes 6 hours to install and last for 3 months and I have in 26 inch length. I dont trust the hair extension techicians to purchase the hair. I want real hair not cheap plastic coated real feel hair.

^You are paying a bit too much for microlinks without hair. White girl salons will do that to you and you do not need to pay so much. For a lot of people almost five packs of hair with microlinks would pull their hair out. You either have a huge head or really thick hair that can deal with the weight. I think you should look into other methods, OP.

My hair is naturally fine and wavy. My hair now is an angled bob around the chin, and I was hoping to get extensions that would not only blend the hair in, but add length to the middle of my back. And my natural color is auburn.

MoonSprite I do not think you are paying too much.....I have extremely thick hair....anything less than that $$$ wise and your hair is either very thin or it is cheap silicone hair that tangles and velcros. It is soooo super important to make sure your extensionist has the hair custom made OR has a huge inventory of custom made hair already for you and I CANNOT stress that enough. If your extensionist orders your hair and it comes in less than 48 hours then it is junk!

Lovelydancer, where are you located? You can PM me if you want. I know of a few girls who do amazing work

So I met with the lady today instead of the originally scheduled appointment for a consultation. It would be a total of $500 for a full head of hair that's 20' long. She said it would take her right around 3hours from start to finish. She had a prefect match for my color and texture.

Strippername my head is average sized but I have a lot of hair. thick wavy hair I'm sure I can sell my har for extensions lol

I do not have micro links installed. I have a method called Brazilian Knot extensions and it costs $3000 to have them installed. On average because of the technique most people use between 3-4 packs of hair and I do have thick hair. I go to dominican/Hispanic salons because I am Venezuelan and I love how they blow dry my hair. This is a video attached for referral on the technique used to apply my extensions
