Absolutely. I don't really need the money right now but I want to save for future endeavors. I said I'd do it last week. Then that turned into "next Tuesday" - meaning yesterday. That turned into today. And I almost was like "naaah, I'll do it tomorrow." But I was like no, fuck it. I need to just do it because I'll justify being too busy tomorrow too. So I just forced myself to get ready, and once I was ready, it was like well, I may as well now...
I did it! So can you! Just get ready, get in your car, and go!

I procrastinated for a good month or two before I finally auditioned. It really was a lot easier than I thought it would be!

Thanks so much for your support, ladies! I did go tonight, but didn't get hired..at least I tried..I was soooo nervous! As I was leaving a couple guys flirted w/me a bit, I think the doorman kinda liked me too. At least I'll (hopefully) have a lil' more courage next time.

I procrastinate alot more when I have been out of the game, the longer I have been out, the longer it takes me to stop procrastinating. I think breaks make me lazy. But I say just get over it and do it! lots easier said then done, I know...

yup, i've always procrastinated until i totally ran outta money and had no other choice lol..it also helped to go with a friend to help kick my ass and make me go. not a friend who would also audition with me necessarily, just one who would get me into my car and make me go in and encourage me. i would also set a date and make sure that no matter what i went in on that date, no excuses!
its normal to be nervous and procrastinate
Yep! Every time, basically. I sometimes even procrastinate going into the club I'm currently contracted at, if I've taken too long of a break, just 'cause it's hard to get back in the groove. You should try on some of your stripper outfits, do your makeup all glamorous and get all sexified in front of the mirror to psyche yourself up. That always helps meGood luck!
“The irony of commitment is that it's deeply liberating -- in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around like rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life.”

I procrastinated auditioning, and I procrastinate working. My new method is to try to make decisions future me won't hate past me for. That includes going in tonight rather than tomorrow, especially since I already feel guilty about it tonight, so putting it off till tomorrow will mean I'll feel guilty all night and then half of tomorrow too while I try to put it off further. I just have to put myself on autopilot, really.

Being a dancer is awesome because you get to pick when you work... So you're really never stuck having to go to work. Unfortunately that's what makes it really, really hard too. Procrastinating can be almost good sometimes, because you'll psych yourself up in the process. But honestly, just do it. The sooner you can get yourself to auditions, the sooner you'll be banking!

I was ridiculous in my over preparation getting starting dancing.
Something like $360 for a pole for my house ..... $200 in outfits.
Personally I'd recommend just grabbing whatever you have around and going to a club where you'll sure you'll get hired at and not being overly prepared.
Don't procrastinate - just go! Procrastination is the #1 reason I have debt today. It's half way gone finally but I could be entirely debt free if I would have been more on the ball 3-4 years ago.

I did the same thing... and then it ended up that half the outfits I bought didn't work for the club I wanted to work at anyway.I made EVERYTHING an excuse. It's a million times better though when you just get it over with and know you're hired and you don't have that nervous weird anticipation about it anymore.

You ladies really encourage me, thanks so much!

Yes, I procrastinated about auditioning before going back this time. Then when I started, I procrastinated on auditioning at a better club. Both times I was nervous for no reason because I was hired on the spot. You've just gotta go do it, you will do fine!
