I'm interested in becoming a stripper, but i'm not a petite size. I'm more on the thick/plus side of things and i'm not sure if any clubs offer that in my area. (Houston)

Darling, head on over to the newbie board and read read read.... there is a club for almost anyone out there. See what you can glean from the newbie section and use that information to your benefit. https://www.stripperweb.com/forum/fo...7-Newbie-Board
Good luck!

Don't forget to look through the Houston club reviews too! https://www.stripperweb.com/stripclu....php?city=1711

Height, weight, race, age?
Many Houston clubs aren't exactly picky, but almost every club is dirty. You could probably get hired somewhere, but whether you'd make any money not prostituting yourself is another story. Sorry to be blunt; it's just the reality of most clubs here right now.

Yeah you were really vague about "thick/plus size" that can vary from state to state.

I'm going to be blunt...strip club mgrs are jerks. If it's not your race it's going to be your size. If a club does have bigger dancers they are most likely "grandfathered" in.
Your best bet is to lose weight. Unless you carry weight well size 16 is pushing it at even a dive.

Thanks.

I'm white and don't have first-hand knowledge of urban clubs in Houston or what it takes to work in them, but I do think you would have a much better shot if you lost weight. If you still want to try some places out to get the experience, you are probably going to be stuck at less than ideal clubs. I know a girl your size has worked days at La Chatte, for example, but there's just not much money there. Many prominent urban clubs are also very stage-centric, so it might be difficult to thrive if you don't know much pole or stage work. I don't know any black dancers in Houston who are consistently active on SW, so you might have better luck if you just devote a day to driving around and trying to audition for day shifts (though first check the club websites and make sure they offer day shifts, as a lot of them open at like 6PM). This is supposedly a list of urban clubs in Texas (most of them in Houston) if you want to check it out: http://racksxracks.com/blog/texas/ Fetish is, I think, "the best" urban club in the city, but they have been having some legal issues, like most of the big clubs here. I do not think they would hire you at your current weight, but if you can find their site or twitter or something, you might find photos of what good clubs expect their dancers to look like.
is a size 10 considered too big as well? sorry to hack, im just interested, being a bigger dancer, my club loves me but then again i think i was grand fathered in.

If your belly is flat maybe, but if not, NO.
Try becoming a waitress first on a day shift & let them seeing you lose weight. Eventually if you have the personality to sell they will ask you to dance.
Good Luck,
Sam
You have the chance of finding an ok club if you are tight with a flat stomach and proper curves.
If you are on the jiggly side, I'm not sure how Houston clubs work. I know here, anyone can find a place to dance. It's more a question of if they can find a place to dance that actually has money to be made.
Keep in mind not every guy will like your size and you will need a thick skin. There are a lot of no's thrown at bigger strippers, but the yes's are usually from custies who like that size and will spend.
Bottom line, if you are confident and think you can handle it, go to clubs as a customer, have some fun, and ask the manager in person if they would mind you booking for a night. If they say no, thank them, and move on. Keep any clubs that said no but that you liked in mind, because you are likely to lose a bit when you start dancing. And if you get down to a smaller but curvier size after working somewhere for a while, you can always go back to the clubs you preferred and try again.

Exactly. Like it is always mentioned there is stripper big and normal big and size 16 is even big by normal standards. Stripper big would be more along the lines of a size 10 or even 8, which are normal sizes in the real world but in stripper world small is better. I once was turned down for being heavy at a size 6.

Are we talking size 10 in juinors or women's clothing? I shop at H&M and Forever 21 & I'm a size 10 in their juinors clothes however I'm not BIG , I'm just tall. I'm 5'8'' and I carry my weight well. I've got a woman's body with booty & boobies so I'm filled out in all the right places. I've seen my size in other dancers all over the place & I've been dancing for 12 years in various states all over. As long as you're toned & carry it well I don't see the problem. Mnngrs don't mind if you are tall usually it's just some of the customers I've ran into got intimidated by my height with the heels & all LOL and told me no. We all get no's at some point in this buisness.

5'8" is tall compared to the average woman, but it's not going to hold you back from any club. I don't think height is an issue unless a dancer gets into the 6'+ range. Even then - so many girls wear such high shoes that they end up towering over customers even if they're short without them.

I have a friend at my main club who is in the 10-12 range but she is solid. Huge natural titties, flat stomach, thick thighs and huge ass. I don't think size has anything to do with it so much as how your weight is distributed and how you carry it. I've seen size 2's with flab and saggy asses and I've seen size 12's like my buddy who are more solidly built than me!

It really depends on the club and how the weight is carried. A size 10 who is muscular, taller etc will be fine probably but a 5 foot tall dancer who carries a pouch in the stomach will not. Some clubs will reject based on the dress size though even if you wear it well. With me when I gained weight it was in my stomach but with a roommate who was dancing she carried it in her butt and boobs. She was also Puerto Rican which made a difference too.
