    Default My Video Looks Orangish...

    Hello ladies,

I'm having some issues with the video feed on SM. I use an HD encoder to stream & in the window it looks perfect. However, when I check the video feed on Streamate the image is slightly washed out & everything is more orange. I've seen other models with similar problems. Also, I'm aware that it's normal for the video to come out slightly different on the other end. I already use 3 point lighting as part of my set up. I also calibrated my monitor settings which improved things slightly.

For my cam, I use the built in Lenovo EasyCamera on my laptop which is a Lenovo MT 20138. Right now, I don't have much money to invest, but I plan on buying better lighting & a higher quality camera soon.

Would changing my webcam settings help? Should I use a certain type of bulb? I've heard girls say they prefer pink bulbs.
Any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated!

I have an issue with my built in cam too... I have come to the conclusion that I need to buy a new one! I hope you find a solution soon, just wanted to let you know that you are not alone.

I think a lot of that issue could be the built-in camera. If you're looking orange, you want to combat that with blue light, I would think, or what I THINK I've heard other girls call daytime bulbs? Heard those are a good clear white that's not as orangeish. Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong about that.

Daylight bulbs are awesome. You can also pick up a cam on eBay for practically nothing x

I use mine for camming & making clips. Not to mention great selfies for twitter. Lighting makes ALL the difference & helps sales. The investment pays off within a few days. Not to mention makes you look great

If you cam during the day, daylight is awesome too when defused through a white sheer curtain.

Bounce the light off the walls if you don't have the umbrellas, or it is to bright & gives you a headache.

    Good Luck,

I had a problem with the orangey-ness with my laptop's cam too. I didn't even realize how bad it was until I check my feed on my own, because it looked clear on my end. I immediately went to walmart at like 12am and got the best one they had to offer (wasn't too much) and it paid itself off almost immediately.

All of the lighting and cam suggestions are great. I also highly recommend getting a program to regulate your cam's settings if it didn't come with one. I use the c920 on a Mac so I have to use a separate program to calibrate my color, etc. Most of the programs I've seen range from free to less than $20.

The things I generally do with these programs:
    - I increase brightness.
    - I change my color temperature to be slightly pinkish.
    - I increase my saturation just a little (this is like putting on a whole other layer of makeup—makes my eyes and hair pop, my skin looks a little less pale, my lady bits look brighter, haha)
    - I increase sharpness because guys like the whole "high detail" thing... makes your cam seem to be higher-definition.

Some of these programs have built-in backlight compensation, too.

Oh and also it makes zooming and panning worlds easier. I need to adjust my cam position way less as a result.

TLR: Consider getting a webcam settings app. I use "Webcam Settings" from the Mac App Store (specifically use this for SM), and "iGlasses" which can be bought online (I use this one for MFC, I would love to use it for SM too but the encoder doesn't like it). I'm sure there are plenty of Windows programs that can do this too.

Um yeah that's supposed to say "TL ; DR:" (too long; didn't read) but apparently BBcode turned it into an emoticon and doesn't want to let me edit the post. Whoops.

I got daylight bulbs and they've improved my video color. It's a lot less orange than before. Thank you ladies for your advice! Does anyone have recommendations for a settings app I can use with the HD encoder?

Oh! I missed the part where you suggested programs. Thanks so much for taking the time to post.
