    Default Acrylic nails

This seems like a sorta dumb post, but I cant stop thinking about this...

I get pink and white acrylic nails. I get them pretty short, and squared off. I think they look pretty and neat, it matches with everything, and best of all glows in the black light at work!

The past two times I've got my nails done, nosy bitches in the nail salon commented on them. A girl yesterday was like, "Oh my god, you have acrylics?!?! NO one gets acrylics anymore, get with the times."

The time before yesterday, there were two women behind me noticing I was getting pink and white nails and said they looked "trashy" and, "soooo outdated."

I dont really give a damn what snobby women think and say, but are they right? Is it outdated? I notice a lot of people get shellac, but those look a little plain to me.

At the end of the day, I'll continue to get pink and white nails, but I'm jusy curious...what do yall think?

I have acrylics. And no one has ever said shit about them. In fact, I get complimented on my nails all the time and people often ask if they are real (like, my natural nails, haha yeah right) or gel nails. When I say "no, they're acrylic," all I typically get is "oh, gel nails are the big thing now, aren't they?" Sure they are. And in a few years, maybe something else will be the "big thing." Who cares? I like them, and I get compliments on them. Honestly, the only people who are going to notice the difference are the snobby bitches in the nail salon who spend way too much thinking about and analyzing that sort of shit. And what is this shit about pink and white being outdated? Wtf? That is a classic look. You don't need flowers and glitter popping off of your fucking nails.

If they make you feel good, who cares about being "trendy" or "up on the times?" Way rude for anybody to comment on them. They're probably just insecure, and that's the only reason they obsess about that sort of thing anyway.

I don't see an issue with pink and white acrylics. I would get them done if my nails didn't grow freakishly fast.

I really dislike current nail trends. My sister goes to the salon and gets polka dots and shit on hers. They look like Easter eggs. Pink and white tips, a French manicure with no tips, or just nicely maintained nails with a clear coat are my favorite.

I don't like acrylic nails. I think that they are outdated and trashy. Just my personal opinion.

I get shellac or OPI gel nails in basic colors. I usually get round, oval, or squoval shaped. I think square, fan tip, and claw-like nails are gross.

Screw those snobs! I love a good pink and white combo, but I adore the trashy, barbie look.

They're outdated because stiletto nails and nail art blew up. I was told the same shit by people back in 2010 when I still did square french, but then I learned to like round and stiletto + darker nail colors or red instead.

pink and white is fine, but idk why anyone would prefer acrylic over hard gel. gel is superior in every way, including look imo.

i get gel when i can afford it, long fake ones though, always square. i hate the rounded ones, they don't look sexy at all to me. shellac can be kinda cute i guess, but it looks plain-jane like you painted your own nails and they don't last even a week for me at least. not worth it!!
every girl i work with has long fake nails. guys always compliment my nails and since i dress for myself and the men at work i don't give a flying F*ck what other girls think. i think what's stylish right now is atrocious, very unsexy and unflattering..just because something is in-style doesn't mean it will look good on you or on anyone..like skinny jeans lol. no offense to the few that can look good in them

I got pink and whites for about a year straight and then switched to solid color acrylics. At one point i had sharp spikes on my nails, after that i went back to solid light pink because they are more normal looking and make my fingers look longer.. I've never heard that they're outdated, but then again I'm in an area where it's pretty popular.. i like acrylics because they are stronger than my regular nails and i use them for things like opening the plastic seals on stuff, opening things, back scratches, parting my hair, etc etc

gel has always been a little thinner than acrylic and never has the lump issue. they are also more flexible so they never lifted or broke on me nearly as quickly as acrylic. unfortunately with gel there's a bunch of different types so you may need to try a few dif types if you dont like it the first few times.

my most natural yet long and glamorous nails ive ever had were hard gel with sculpted tips. they stayed perfect and shiny for almost a month before I finally took them off because they were too grown out. I usually do pink and white btw but I always get different shades besides the typical acrylic ones. I currently love this shimmery pearl color, its only a small change but its a huge difference from them and the typical stripper nails. I get so many complements ftom customers, dancers, and even school friends.

From what I've heard, Gel/Shellac are less damaging long term. I used press on nails from BigW (french style) for 2 years but I occasionally had minor infections (I left them on too long without a chance to breathe).

I like plain colours and tend towards pale and sheer pastels because I like to co-ordinate with my outfits rather then have crazy patterns all over. I believe the target demographic prefer a subtle girl next door look.

I don't like acrylic or gel on my fingers. Personal preference. Think it looks great on other, but I just don't like how it feels. I especially dislike acrylic on my nails... I can't pick up coins/credit cards/stuff like that, off the floor! I'm kinda retarded. But, I had acrylic toes for years. Did the pink and white. Really liked it! Only reason I switched to gel was because I realized how easy it is to do at home for super cheap!!

I dont see a difference in the photos but I can usually tell in RL. However, the fact that the women cares enough to groom far outweighs an uncared for hand anyway!!

To update a french polish you can have a much thinner white tip eg. untitled.pngimagesCAJ0E830.jpg

I also think that rounded finishes elongate the hand and nail, perhaps less practical but IMO long fingers/hands are more feminine looking. Although, whatever makes the individual feel feminine/beautiful is prob. best.

Hold on...are pink and white nails even considered acrylic? Or is it gel?!

I do see women with spiky, long nails lately and shellac. I know some of you girls get shellac, but I have to agree with Simone87. For me personally they look plain jane-ish and basic. My personal style is definitely classy Barbie, and I feel like my pink and whites go with my look in general. I have had a few people think they were my real nails too.

I think they're pretty! My nails grow fast also, & for some reason even polish just bothers me, not allergic or anything..I don't like those dots, stars, etc. maybe for a night out (regular) clubbing..I also don't like blue or green polish (except occasionally on toes), although I have a pretty deep blue sparkly special edition Chanel polish I wear once in a while.
Right now I'm just wearing top coat, when I audition I'm going to wear pink polish, I like a light (but not too light) pink. I think it looks pretty & goes with everything all the time. I love wearing all shades of pinks/coral & some deep reds

I got gels once and hated them! I don't know what they did, but the topcoat had a cracked look and they started coming off after 3 days. I went to get my $50 back and went back to my normal salon (I was trying a new place that had opened).

I know shellac is supposed to be really good for those in service related industries.

When I got my nails done, I got them the same way as you, with a clear gel topcoat. I personally think they look classy. I use press on nails now, and they have the crazy decorations on them. But I'm not having to sit for an extra hour to get them done that way. I don't get any compliments on them from the customers. I miss my pink and whites. My customers, older gentlemen, love them.

I don't get why people have to make the rude comments about them though. If you like them, keep getting them.

I always get a French manucure and when I had acrylic nails, they still looked pretty natural. A lot of the time, the people who did my nails cannot even notice the difference and always asked beforehand if I have acrylic or gel.

The reason why I switched to gel is because it lasts longer and unlike acrylic, the white tip doesn't turn yellow after 1-2 weeks... I get my nails done every 3-4 weeks. I just hate spending so much time at the nail salon lol.
