    Default cold/flu season

I just wanted to share what I have been doing to not get sick. My whole entire family is sick right now except me.
I have been taking the Zicam Pre-Cold rapid dissolving tablets. Its a whole bunch of zinc so when you get the
pre symptoms of full blown cold. Go get this! It will stop it from progressing and shorten your cold

I'm thinking of getting my first flu shot this year. Has anyone had experience with it?

I feel out of it after I get them. I don't get the flu, although if there are bad non-flu things going around (chronic sore throat etc) I will get those.

Love the flu shot. Got the flu 6 or so years ago and I felt like I was going to die. I hacked my lungs up for 2 solid months. It was awful. After that, I've always gotten the flu shot. I've never had any kind of negative reaction... I also get it because I'm around lots of babies at work/school and by preventing myself from getting the flu, I'm also protecting them. Influenza is a major bummer for infants.

I plan on just getting some vitamins (etc) to boost my immune system to lower my chances of getting sick and to fight off infections if I do get sick. I'm not too worried about colds, (knock on wood) I can tough those out without much care although they're annoying. I hate the flu, of course, but it's usually pretty 'tolerable' as long as I drink lots of fluids and get lots of sleep. The thing I'm ALWAYS worried about during flu season is stomach viruses! Throwing up used to be my biggest phobia, I'd keep anti-emetics on me as well as anti-anxiety meds just in case I got nauseated lol! Now that I'm older and got exposed to people throwing up from drinking (etc) I'm a bit desensitized although I still hate throwing up way more than the average person. So when fall/winter rolls around I am always very cautious about washing my hands and not touching doorknobs since stomach viruses are not 'technically' airborne, I feel I have at least some control over catching it.

Vitamin C is good to take also. I dont like medicines and vaccinations in general, but Ive done research on the flu shot and it is safe. I got my first one ever last week!

^^I hate puking, too. I wish the flu shot could prevent the stomach flu... But if I had my choice, I guess if rather get the stomach flu than I would influenza.... When I get the stomach flu it only lasts a few days. Influenza lasts forever! I've used the zinc stuff for colds, like one of the posters above mentioned. I think it's helped..? Seems like it does. I've taken airborne and your mix it with water. When I feel like I'm coming down with a cold, I'll drink like 10 Airbornes a day. Maybe it's the zinc... Maybe it's the fluids... Maybe it's in my head...

I'm getting my first flu shot this winter, because I had the flu so bad last winter that it turned into pneumonia. I lost sooo much time camming, and drained all of my savings ,plus the cost of the doctor visits. fingers crossed that it will work.
