Default Telling parents about your job?

I am 21 years old currently living at home. I am on a year leave of absence from school and I am trying to transfer to a new school. I really need money so I started stripping recently. My boyfriend, friends and sister are very supportive of me and so far it has been, more or less and positive experience and I am making pretty good money to start out.

I want to tell my parents about it but I am afraid of how they will react? Tips on coming out? Thanks!

I personally would wait a little while longer till you know this is definitely something you want to do and are ready to take on the backlash that will occur when you tell your parents. I mean why do they need to know?

If you are earning money as a dancer, and if you will be returning to college, you'll have no choice but to share the 'details' of your work with your parents. The reason is that when your parents fill out a FAFSA form for your student loans / grants, 'total household income' must be included ... which means both your parents' income as well as your own income. Because FAFSA shares information with the IRS and with college bursar's offices, if your own income is NOT included in the FAFSA application it is a virtual certainty that both you and your parents will be audited by the IRS.

    Good post Melonie.

It's just good business sense to play it safe as unpleasant as it may be. Better to be dealing with a family backlash than a government one.

Well- I have another job and I did report that income...

I ended up only doing it for a month as the backlash was too bad... I have to wait until I move out. Do you guys still think I need to declare it?

Most of the money I made was in cash- some of it was in lap dances..... how much would you say I could make in a month before I would need to report it?
