Default Getting back on artificial hormones AKA BC Pills///?

Alright, so we are all women here (mostly) and what better place to ask this question than an internet forum where I am faceless, so here I go....

I am really sick of my cycle as I am now on a 21 day schedule and then there is the odd month where I will have a 15 day cycle and it is driving me mad! Not only that, but I want a viable option to not worry if a condom breaks or anything like that to prevent me from having children.....I am 25 and have no desire to have children the natural way, I do want kids perhaps someday but my dream is to be a foster parent and adopt older teens...I have thought about getting my tubes tied but I have never been under anethesthia, and would like to go my whole life without surgery if possible.

Pumping artificial hormones into my body just scares me. I don't trust pharmaceuticals as I think the whole pharmacetuical industry is just some big profit making demon to make people sicker and sicker so profits rise and rise and the Federal Department of Arsenic doesn't put me at ease...along with the lawsuits against many birth control pills. But, the perks of birth control are nice...high success rate of unwanted pregnancies, a normal 28 DAY CYCLE!, bigger boobs, less acne. I have been on YAZ before and I liked it but all of these lawsuits against that brand! :0
And the dryness...it took me around 6 months of being off BC pills to be able to have my own natural lubrication again.
    ,
So, I guess the purpose of this thread is.....and yes, I know all of our bodies and chemistry is different but, would anybody care to share their experiences with birth control pills, has any brand not made you "dry?" Has anybody had any type of cancer, and also been on BC pills for years and years? I was on BC for most of my teenage years but have not been on any hormones whatsoever for around 4 years now.

i've tried BC ..and tried and tried again. the depo shot made me break out like crazy for two months after getting it and become absolutely insane. the pill made me nauseous to the point where i couldn't get out of bed or drive and no sex drive. the ring had the same effect. i've given up! i don't like the idea of putting hormones into my body either, i get it for women like my best friend who are missing an ovary and need it but not for me. none of them have made me gain weight, made my breasts bigger, or gotten rid of acne. i do pull-out which get a bad rep because a lot of guys don't know how to do it correctly, but i've had great success for over two years just doing that. when they come out with male BC my bf can get on that, but i am done fucking my body up. my aunt died because they had just come out with hormonal BC and she had too strong of a dose, got cancer, the end. very sad

I don't like the idea of putting hormones in my body either, but I also don't want to get knocked up. I'm currently on a birth control cleanse, but have taken birth control in one form or another for most if the past 10 years. I have learned that whenever I start up after having been off for a bit or change types, I go fucking nuts, bleed everywhere and feel like ass for about 3 months. But, after 3 months pass, my body gets used to the hormones and then I feel great. No cramps, no PMS, big boobs, clear skin... But the first 3 months always suck. I like Nuva ring best. You only have to think about it twice a month (when u pull one out and shove another one in).

I dont trust the pharmaceutical business either. I dont mean to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but I too think its a money making scheme to make people sicker.
I am to the point now where I take as few possible medicines as I can. Especially those with hormones.
The Nuvo Ring, and Yaz both make me bloated and depressed. I got the Paraguard iud a while back, and at first I bled a lot and had a lot of pain, but now things have evened out. Im not a huge fan of copper implanted in my body, but it seems like the lesser of two evils.

I really hope there comes a time when the GUY has to take some sort of birth control. Pregnancy, child birth and periods are hard enough, let alone dealing with all the complications that can come from birth control.

I think you should try IUD. Though have them numb you or put you to sleep or something. It also may not fit (my case) or may fail (which people have talked about on forums & I think even a Teen Mom got preg that way).

I take levora (BC).I've been on it for over two years and it's been wonderful. No issues, barely any dryness, my boobs are a cup size bigger, normal 28 day cycle. It's magic.

I also take it the same time everyday. I have an alarm set on my phone.

Yeah, there are a couple IUDs. I have a weird shaped uterus, so I can't use them. But if I could I'd be interested in the copper IUD. It doesn't release any hormones, unlike the Mirena IUD. Then again, OP is hoping to regulate her cycle. So, maybe the copper IUD would be a no go, since it lacks hormones.

I have a gf who almost died on the pill. 7 blood clots in her left lung and 3 in her right. she has to be on blood thinners now. she was healthy when she was taking it, no smoking or drinking. the pill just fucked her up.

she also was on mirena and this one didn't try to kill her but it made her really sick.

Everyone seems to act drastically different on BC. BC scares me...after what my gf went through, nope, nope nope. I never want kids. I'm really hoping maybe I'm unable to have them lol.

I'd recommend not ever getting the shot. once they put that in you and if you react horribly to it you cant reverse it. my gyno actually told me to stay away from it.

One of my best friends back home had the Paraguard copper IUD and got pregnant on it!--after only having it in for 2 months. They obviously had to terminate the pregnancy because it would not have lasted. . what a horrible experience to go through.

Thank you for all of the replies---it helped me put things into perspective. I suppose it is just no birth control for me, get used to my 21 day cycle, and never have unprotected sex, but if an oopsie happens---take the dreaded morning after pill

There are some books out about "fertility dieting." My cycle was all messed up for awhile (when I wasn't on bc) and changing my eating habits helped. If your interested, hit me up and I'll look up the title of the book I used. Turns out I have a system which is estrogen dominant. So I had to cut out a lot of soy foods and add in some foods that contain natural progesterone. Eatting tons of sweet potatoes, curry and some other weird stuff really seemed to help. There are progesterone creams, too, but I never used those. There isn't tons of hard science to back up the effectiveness of this approach to regulating your cycle, but a lot if people use it. You have to chart your cycle carefully for at least 3 months (take your basel body temp, check out the consistency of your discharge, etc..) Then you figure out if you have a long luteal cycle or a short one. Then you determine if you need more estrogen or progesterone (or both, but at different times in your cycle). Then you eat accordingly. Or do the creams or whatever. A lot of women do this to get knocked up, but you can also do it to regulate your cycle and know when you are fertile so you don't get knocked up.

I'm pretty sure every method of BC fails way more than publicized. Even when used correctly. Like an IUD, the shot, nuvaring, implanon... how do you fuck those up? lol. But they fail all the time! Even if you read forums there's people left and right saying they got preg on one (or more!) of those

I dont know if this will help but - because of my age I take Bio-Identical hormones - I get them from a compounding pharmacy - you may contact one in your area and see if they have a suggestion / product

First you need to make sure the cause of your frequent periods and subsequent abnormally thick uterine lining (which is why you are experiencing polymenorrhea) is benign as this condition can be a possible sign of pelvic inflammatory disease, endometriosis, or fibroids. Then if that checks out, you may want to think about a progesterone-only birth control 'mini-pill' like Cerazette.

I say this because estrogen causes the uterine lining to thicken and the cells to proliferate, which would lead to heavier menstruation and shorter intervals between cycles. Also, since Cerazette isn't a high-dose progesterone-only option like Depo-Provera (but it is still 97-99% effective against pregnancy) your cells will still undergo some follicular development (pre-ovulation) allowing for the cells to develop into the membrana granulosa which will secrete follicular fluid, which will prevent vaginal dryness, but the developing oocyte will not complete the necessary meiosis to become a mature, viable, follicle due to the premature end the added progesterone hormone puts on follicular growth.
