Uh oh. Lol, the cats out of the bag. Give me a break.

yet more mainstream media publicity of the 'stripper stereotype'. However, I've been to some Providence clubs, and don't doubt for a second that the news report could be 100% accurate !

Oh, it's definitely 100% accurate and has been for many years.
In any event, the mayor seems upset...

^^^ election day has now passed, so this is probably the most we'll hear on this topic !!!

Lots of political posturing but the bottom line is that the cops have known for years what goes on in these clubs. They would rather have it happen in a private booth in a club than on the street corner...

a 15 year old?????

Yep, I thought there was already a thread about that part but yes, last summer 15 year old girl with a fake ID's was arrested for soliciting prostitution inside of Cheaters, a club that is currently shut down until December after continued issues with the city. That's one of the reasons that the AG is pushing for back ground checks.
Probably there is another thread and I missed it. Extras are one thing (at least consensual between adults). But there's no way a fifteen year old doesn't look underage and what the fuck.

could something like this be in the future for Providence clubs?
http://www.statesman.com/ap/ap/crime...ficking/nb6C3/

its pretty common knowledge that that happens in providence..its renowned for that! is this a news flash to anybody living in RI?? kinda thought it was legal behind closed doors there, did the laws change? i went there last summer for a few shifts. money wasn't any better than in mass, but then again i wasn't offering anal for 50 extra bucks..ew!

I think it was two years ago that the law changed. The RI laws allowed 16 year olds to have pretty much any legal employment without special paperwork or emancipation, and separate laws had it completely legal for indoor prostitution, with the only prohibition at the time being prostitution in a public place. So, a junior in high school starts missing too much school because she's at work in one of the clubs... When everyone realized that it's perfectly legal for her to be there having sex for pay with customers at the strip club, there was a rush to change the prostitution laws. Then a bunch of massage parlors started protesting. Since indoor prostitution was entirely legal, there were a bunch of women emigrating to the US and explaining to the immigration officials that they had legal employment in the US lined up as prostitutes in the massage parlors, with the management paying their travel and immigration costs to get to the US. So, now not only is a whole documented immigration route closed down, but a bunch of people already admitted to the US suddenly had the legitimacy of their declared employment pulled out from under them.

Dude, almost nothing that you just posted is accurate. I don't know where you read it but you should cancel your subscription.
While there was a loophole, since closed, that permitted anyone 16 or over to work as a dancer the club owners in Providence have had an agreement in place with the city not to hire any girl under 18 for many years. Obviously fake ID's come into play here but no, 16 year old high school girls could not routinely choose "stripper" as a work study program and dance in the clubs in the afternoon instead of going to home ec.
As far as the AMPS go the raids and shutdowns were conducted based on immigration and human trafficking issues long before the prostitution loophole was closed. None of the girls working in those AMPS applied for visas to come and work in the US as legal prostitutes. Though many AMPS are currently open they are still under constanct scrutiny from local authorities for immigration and, now, prostitution issues as well as offering unlicensed massage.

Agreed, it should really come as a surprise to no one but the mayor seemed pretty shocked after the I Team's tv report came out. It's worth noting that the police chief was not surprised at all. It's not legal but it is accepted. The problem is that once people who have probably never even been in a strip club start seeing things on television about prostitution the public outcry gets too loud to ignore for the politicians. It's no different than the outcry over Craigs List after the Craigs List killing a few years back. As long as the general public isn't seeing it on the evening news LE doesn't worry too much about the stuff that they don't have the time or resources to control.
What's interesting is that, as you found out, the money really isn't better in RI than it is in Mass or CT. I run into girls in many Mass clubs who worked in RI and decided that the contact they had to put up with simply wasn't worth the money they made.
In any event. The clubs have made adjustments (temporary or permanent we don't know yet) to try and keep LE out. Some clubs have taken the curtains down from their VIP rooms and all have warned their dancers that if the get caught performing a sex act they will be fired. On my last visit to a Providence club last weekend there were room monitors routinely circulating through the semi-private dance area just looking around to make sure everyone was behaving. Several folks have posted about CR monitors "peeking in" during private dances.

I did miss a few details. The dancer was a 16 year old runaway, for instance.
