Hello I take only lyra actually but I do both stripping and burlesque/Lyra acts. Can I write my lessons off since if I don't improve my act I would be losing money to other dancers white similar skills?

I don't know much about tax stuff, but I know that strippers write off gym memberships and whatnot. I would think you could write of lyra lessons b/c it's something you do to stay fit. But, if you are taking classes from, like a circus school where you pay tuition, I don't know if you could write that off. I don't really understand your argument about losing money to other dancers with Lyra skills. So maybe I'm missing something. I do Lyra, silk and pole... But I don't think the Lyra or silk (or even the pole, to be honest) give me much of an edge at the strip club....

Two issues ... the 'housewife' test, as well as IRS regulations allowing deductions for 'training' that prepares a person for a new / better job. Because of these IRS positions, odds are that an attempted deduction would be questioned.
I don't do Lyra at a strip club. I strip and my other job is a burlesque club. We don't get naked and I do Lyra as well as two other girls in burlesque you need edge. So I need lessons to learn how my body works. Not a school really. More like a studio

Ah. Sorry. Missed your point about the burlesque act!

gym membership, no. pole classes, i think so because i did it and wasn't audited. as long as you aren't taking something a "normal" person would take, and something that directly applies to your profession to make you better at it
Yay thanks! That's what I figured I mean it's not like I'm just throwing up a Lyra for the hell of it. It correlates directly for work
