    Sad intimidated by racism

Im african american. Caramel toned. I am in shape and petite with the right curves. And i honestly think im beautiful. But i just got turned down at this one club for the 3rd time. Because im black. When youre black they direct you to the other side that's all black girls and far less money. Kind of a rant. Im stressing wondering in 2 months when im 21 , will they treat me the same way at all these clubs ive been dying to go to.

I hesitate to answer this at all. However, I'll try to do so carefully ...

Where strip club 'marketing' is concerned, clubowners often try to match the physical characteristics of the dancers they hire to the physical characteristics that 'sell' best to the club's customer base. From the clubowner's viewpoint, those physical characteristics include such things as DD cups, long legs, tattoos, blonde hair, caramel skin tone, body mass index, etc.

Fuck it and go somewhere you'd want to be anyway. The club is the missing variable in this equation and this doesn't seem to be the right one. Go somewhere you'll be shown the respect and appreciation you deserve, no one needs to be discriminated like that.

misssincere, you will sometimes hear replies from people who like to believe that there is no racism in clubs, that there is only wise all knowing club owners who pay strict attention to hiring standards that reflect demand. Of course in this case that kind of reply makes no room for the segregation of black performers in an adjoining club. Were there no demand, the adjoining club simply would not exist. So...yeah, you got yourself a clear case of racism and I'd advise applying at a different club. It's not about you or your qualifications. As the guy said they don't hire many black girls. And there are some managers who will hire the worst candidates (think B.A.P.S.) to rig the game so to speak. They appear to be fair by having a few black women working but they ensure these are girls who will not compete with the white dancers or be able to actually get ahead at that job.

If you want to read up on the wild and woolly practices of racist club owners and managers, do a search on this forum and the newbie forum.

The club is split into two sections? Am I understanding correctly, or are they directing you to a club next door?

You may not like this answer, but if you went to the other club and you are the best looking one there, you should end up making a majority of the money. Of course with that, the ones at the club with begin to resent this and may give you a hard time. So maybe it is best you go somewhere else completely.

I've seen beautiful dancers try that 'big fish, little pond' method and it did not go well depending on how vicious and vindictive the less attractive dancers who work there are.

You probably won't be treated the same way at every club- but we won't know that until you try to audition.

Yes every black dancer (no matter how beautiful) experiences this. You learn to be resilient and MOVE ON, especially if its the third time being told no. Its good to be persistent but in this situation probably not... Im sure there are plenty of other clubs that will hire you, and if you can afford to, travel. Black is beautiful dont let anyone tell you otherwise

yup, a lot of clubs are racist, especially against darker skinned black girls! i'm white and i wouldn't even want to work in a racist club, because they usually just suck and the people running them are ridiculous. and if you are black, most of them who hire you want you to look "racially ambiguous" and light-skinned so at least you have the carmel skin tone goin on. just find a better club, lots of mixed clubs or even urban clubs! i work in a mixed club myself.

I'm mixed race and its impossible to tell my ethnicity, but I'm fairly light and am often categorized as Asian or Latino. Anyway, my best stripper friend is Haitian. She is beautiful. She's 5'8", super thin and model-sque. She has amazing, natural C cups and a gorgeous booty. She spends 9 million dollars on her hair and it always looks flawless. The girl is a 10. I'm, like a 7. (Although my # probably drops when I'm standing next to her.) We traveled together for like 6 months. It was crazy. They hired me, on the spot, at every club we went to. Only about half the clubs would hire her. We wanted to work together, so we had to go to club after club to find a place that would hire her. It was ridiculous. At one upscale club, we played a joke on the manager. I went in with my hair in a messed up, ratty pony tail with a giant scrunchy and acted drunk. I got hired. She came in (pretending not to know me) and were her poised, beautiful self. She did not get hired. The manager said, "I'm sorry babe, but we're only hiring the very best right now." I was sitting at the bar, still acting wasted and started singing (in very slurred words), "Simply the best" by Tina Turner, at full volume.

I guess I should note that the club wasn't that upscale. But it was (supposedly) the nicest one in Colorado...

It was Diamonds, I think. It was a giant building on the corner of 2 streets and they were big on promoting the fact they served steak... It def wasn't La Bo. I'm not familiar with that club. I don't know if it was really the greatest club in CO, but that's what everyone kept telling us. (I've only danced in CO a couple times. I don't know that much about the clubs there.) We ended up working at PT Showclub or something like that...? I think we had a pretty good strech there, if I'm remembering correctly. We worked a lot if clubs on that trip.

You are beautiful. I saw your pics. I don't know where you're at but is traveling an option?

A lot of clubs have "race caps" and "quotas". One club I was just at told me they had too many black girls and the reason they were hiring me was because I "had big knockers and looked white". (I'm half Mexican and get mistaken for Asian)

Now when you go in, are you at your best? Immaculate hair and nails, etc?

The club itself was really nice.... But the management was weird (obviously) and some of the girls they had working looked a mess. Didn't seem to have a dress code, either. Some of the dudes that were there looked like they had just rolled out of bed. So the building seemed upscale, but the people did not....

^^A club would be crazy to turn you away Tempest! Seriously, how many "Asians" have a gorgeous rack like yours?!! Even if there were 90 Asians working a club, I still think you would be a stand out!

And yeah, the race quotas are dumb. Clubs should hire based on the overall quality of a dancer, not her color. A professional, beautiful dancer can make $ regardless of how many other dancers share her ethnic background at a club. Don't give up, OP. You will find something. Sorry that idiots are giving you a hard time..

LOL yeah I just chuckled because the closest I have gotten to Asian DNA is when Lady Ambition borrowed some of my makeup.

That's ridiculous. Keep auditioning. I have a number of black stripper friends who work in Vegas and do well. But, I know that it did take most of them awhile to find a club. After getting turned down half a dozen times (for no reason besides her race--she's a beautiful, experienced dancer) one of them spent a couple nights at a few clubs as a customer. She talked to the other black dancers and got the inside scoop about where, when and who to audition for. She ended up going back to a club that had just turned her down and re-auditioning with a different manager. She finally got her job and is still there, making $.

A friend of mine who went with me to audition is half black and half white. She HATES rap and listens to more metal than me. We were both auditioning and they only hired me. They suggested she would "be more comfortable" at Onyx.

I didn't wind up working there.
