Default Completely new. Need help. Stripping and cam girls!

I am debating stripping. I have for a while. I am going through a lot and could use the extra money.

HOWEVER - I have tried to strip before, and I ended up leaving early and having to pay to leave because I was so nervous/shy. I want to strip, because I want/need the money and I know that if I got past that part, that I would love it. I just need to get past the shyness. I am so shy, it is ridiculous. My boyfriend doesn't think I will be able to do it.

My play was this - drive atleast an hour away, and try to get a job. Working 2-3 nights a week, and thats it. But I have several questions. I have been going through the forumn but some of them I can't find answers too so here goes!

    1. This is like a normal job, where you have to pay taxes and such? Or how does it work when it comes to the end of the year? Do you end up having to pay back a crap ton? Or how does it work?
    2. What about girls that can't dance? How do we get better? I've been trying to youtube, but I can't find much.
    3. Never touched a pole. So how do I learn? Or whats the best advice on that?
    4. I've thought about being a camgirl but my fear is that someone will record me, and such and I will be all over the internet. How do you girls deal with this? This is why I think stripping maybe more for me?? Unless there is a way to make it to where I won't be all over the internet.
    5. Tattoos - are some clubs against them?
    6. When I did go once to that strip club, there were girls in the back doing drugs and such. Is it THAT common?
    7. I'm 5'6. 130 Pounds. Bad weight?
    8. How does auditioning go for clubs? Do all clubs hire? Or what should I do regarding that? How does it work?

    Thanks girls.

    1. Yep, you do have to pay taxes, but unlike other jobs where you get a paycheck and they take the money out, you have to do it all on your own. I am not very savvy when it comes to this stuff, but there is TONS of helpful info posted around here. Try doing some searches in the Dollar Den.
    2. I was SO NERVOUS about dancing in front of people when I first started. I practiced a lot, and it really showed when I first started. My advice, is go to a strip club. Watch how the girls dance. Find some youtube vids, and watch those. Then practice, and if you have a webcam or cell phone, record yourself. Then play it back, and watch for what looks good and flattering, and what looks awkward. Then try again and repeat the process.
    3. I used to own a pole and I would play with it at home but I almost never get on the pole at the club. Most of the time you will make more money by being up closer to the crowd. Seriously, pole dancing skills and completely unnecessary. If you want to learn, try taking a class or playing around when it's slow or after the club closes.
    4. I also thought about this and had the same fear. If this is something that really is an issue for you, I wouldn't pursue camming. From everything I've read, you WILL be recorded and your videos WILL be spread around. You can have them taken down when you find them, but some cam sites put the girls on porn sites and you can't do anything about that.
    5. Yes. One or two little ones probably won't matter, but the more you have the more likely you are to have an issue because of it. Some clubs don't care, some clubs will make you cover them.
    6. Depends on the club. But usually there are at least some girls doing drugs. Just ignore them.
    7. I'm bad with visualizing this kind of thing. That may be on the heavier side for a stripper, but it depends on how you carry it. But it doesn't matter, I've seen girls heavier than that dance. Men like all types, as long as you are CONFIDENT. Some clubs are strict about this and others aren't, just find one that works for you. And you will likely lose weight and tone up once you start, anyways.
    8. Call and ask when auditions are. Ask what the dress code is. Show up in full hair and make up, nails done, flattering outfit, look your absolute best. Make sure your audition outfits fits the dress code. Some hire on the spot, some will look you over in the back, some may put you on stage for a song or two. All clubs are hiring the right girl, but some are pickier than others. And there's always a chance that you get a manager in a shit mood. So if they turn you down. just brush it off and move on to the next!

    1. Yes, you have to pay independent contractor taxes. Clubs don't do anything to help you with that, and most do not track your earnings. You can learn more in the Dollar Den section on here.
    2. Look at the Instructional Videos thread in Stripping General. There are some very easy moves detailed on there. I am shy and a shit dancer. It doesn't mean you can't be a stripper. Watch the videos in that thread and practice in a mirror or record yourself and watch. I really like the way this girl moves, and her floor work is largely something beginners can do: http://www.youtube.com/user/officialhugglekitty
    3. You don't need to learn pole to work in most clubs. If you want to anyway, go in when it's slow and try some things out. Someone might see you and help you. Some might be bitches and laugh at you. Those types are just trying to scare you off. Pay no mind.
    4. I only strip and had a guy try to record me in the club yesterday. You have to be cautious no matter what. As far as I understand, being recorded as a cam girl is something you have to assume the jackasses of the world are going to try. Camming Connection probably has threads discussing it, but I would guess they'd recommend changing your appearance as best you can with a wig, different makeup, and lighting.
    5. Some are, but most accept that many girls have at least a few. If you have lots of big ones, you may run into issues. A few small ones probably won't hurt you.
    6. In some clubs yes, but you don't have to do anything. People give me shit for being sober all the time. Fuck them.
    7. In my experience, the thinner you are in the club the better. You are a normal weight, but you might feel pressure to slim down when you're surrounded by other extremely pretty girls. I don't think you're too heavy or that your weight will preclude you from being hired at most clubs.
    8. Call and ask if there's a good day/time to come in to apply. Ask if you need to audition or just talk to a manager. Some make you audition, some look you over in the clothes you come in in, some make you strip to your underwear to be approved. Some also do background checks. You'll likely need a photo ID, preferably a DL, and SS card.

First off, welcome around! Second, do yourself a favour and read through Newbie Board, the section you posted this thread in. There are some super useful threads stickied at the top of the forum and they cover just about everything you need to know to get started as a dancer. Then, head over to Hustle Hut to learn about how to maximize your time in the club, and Dollar Den to learn more about the financial aspect of dancing (ie. paying taxes and being smart with your money). There's lots of great information on here!

Otherwise, much of the stripping industry is club-specific. While in most clubs pole tricks won't make a difference in your earnings, some clubs (urban ones, mostly) basically require them. Auditioning and hiring practices also vary a lot, but if you just call the club you're interested in, they'll tell you how it goes. You can also just show up and that's usually fine too, but I don't recommend that if you've got a long way to go to get to the club. Tattoos, drug use, dancer sizes, etc. all vary as well. Your best bet is to keep to yourself in the dressing room and spend as much time on the floor as possible, then things like drug use will be a non-issue.

As for camming, we do have a section devoted to it called Camming Connection. Give it a read, but know that there is no guarantee your face won't end up plastered all over the internet. Since that's something it doesn't sound like you're comfortable with, I'm inclined to agree with you that stripping is more up your alley.

    Good luck!

Yes, you have to pay taxes. Save your receipts no matter how trivial you think it is. Shoes, outfits, body spray, asshole waxing, you name it.
    2. What about girls that can't dance? How do we get better? I've been trying to youtube, but I can't find much.
Time. you're going to look like an idiot for the first few weeks or months. No amount of youtube can help with that. It's called Jamie Lee Curtis syndrome.
    3. Never touched a pole. So how do I learn? Or whats the best advice on that?
Can't help ya there. I don't bother with the pole. Doing polework when you have huge fake tits is like buying a handgun when you already have a grenade launcher. Unless you're working at a stage oriented club all pole tricks do is amuse a few broke ass motherfuckers. (I had a lengthy discussion about the financial bebefits of pole tricks with another SW member the other night)
    4. I've thought about being a camgirl but my fear is that someone will record me, and such and I will be all over the internet. How do you girls deal with this? This is why I think stripping maybe more for me?? Unless there is a way to make it to where I won't be all over the internet.
    N/A
    5. Tattoos - are some clubs against them?
The uberupscale ones generally are. Dermablend is your best friend.
    6. When I did go once to that strip club, there were girls in the back doing drugs and such. Is it THAT common?
Yes, and we were all molested by our daddies as well. Really? You're going to find drugs in almost every work environment, not just strip clubs. It depends on the club. I've worked at shitholes where there were no doors on the loos because bitches were shooting up and I've worked in places where they tasted my bottled water to make sure it wasn't vodka.
    7. I'm 5'6. 130 Pounds. Bad weight?
It depends on how your weight is distributed. Also muscle weighs more than fat.
    8. How does auditioning go for clubs? Do all clubs hire? Or what should I do regarding that? How does it work?
Go in looking your best and prepared to work. All clubs don't hire. You're going to get rejected at some point. It's a part of the business.

most of your questions have been answered thoroughly but i will add to question 1: get an accountant to tell you what you need. whatever you put into your checking account, you had better claim because there is a paper trail. simply use your credit/debit card for dance-related expenses like hair, nails, clothes, and as tempest said, waxing your asshole, LOL.

3: pole skills don't fucking matter. at. all. conversation is everything.

also, 7: i'm 5'6" and 139 and i think i look pretty freaking awesome so your weight is fine, as long as you carry it well with good posture and you are toned. always suck in your gut, even if you don't have one, haha.
