I'm sure it's done on a case by case basis. If the card was bought with a stolen card then of course it will get refunded. If someone complains to their bank then sure, it can be refunded.

If they buy it and send the code to themselves and then to you and you claim it I'm sure they can get it taken away from you saying you stole it.

The smart thing to do is only accept gift cards as gifts and not payments, that's part of their tos anyway. Join a adult friendly payment processor and you'll be way more protected from chargebacks/refunds.

I know a lot of sites don't technically allow it, but I accept tributes for customs, at least there's some protection there, but not completely.
You can use IWantClips or Customs4U for customs. They have a form and you put in your amounts. I know IWC needs I think at least 2 videos uploaded to appear as a store though.
Someone I know just got screwed over by giftrocket because they withdrew the money from her bank account. She didn't even get an email from them telling her it was going to happen. Her bank sent her an email before they authorized the withdrawal but not GR.

Square also does this. They debited upwards of $600 from me 364 days after funds cleared. They claimed customer did a refund but he is a long time customer and has never done chargebacks ever in the 4 years I've known him. Beware of services that can access your bank info - they will be dishonest and invasive once they have your bank info.

Btw..I disputed the dispute and got my money back from Square. Assholes!

From what I've read on this forum, they can't refund it if you have spent some of it.

But they were saying someone spent a bit of it and it still got refunded ...

I wouldn't accept they giving me the code themselves, I would only accept if amazon sent me the code directly to my email, like it is supposed to be done. I dont think if they get you a giftcard, the code amazons sends you it's just to you, not to the person who buys it

You're ignoring large parts of this. There's obviously not a cut and dry answer, but yes, every company covers their asses in their terms and services and can take back the money if the case calls for it.

    I'm not missing it.
The thing you were saying is that if they buy me a gift card, they send the code to them too. That makes absolutely no sense, that's why I was asking you how is that possible? If they send the code to my e-mail (amazon themselves) I don't think the person who got the gift card to me would get it too.

That's not at all what I said. I don't even care about this, just trying to help people that will listen. I'm not replying any further because you're not reading what's being said.

I actually did read because I made the thread because I'm interested in this, I don't make threads just out of the blue.
    I'm gonna quote you:
"If they buy it and send the code to themselves and then to you and you claim it I'm sure they can get it taken away from you saying you stole it. "
Why would I get a second hand quote? I mean using your brain is free, you just fall for that one if you want.

I merged your thread with existing threads that go over every single detail on Amazon and how it works. There are pages of information in this thread that just about covers it all with lots of helpful advice from kindhearted people who are willing to help. Anyone else new or curious about accepting Amazon or giftcards should definitely start at the beginning.

Well, you keep getting different opinions because not all cam models have the same experience with Amazon gift cards. Some have terrifying experiences with the company while other don't. I took them as tribute but not for Skype shows and other things. Frankly, Amazon has an unstable relationship with sex workers and they cover their own assses if problems occur. So, use Amazon gift cards at your own risk.

OMG this is sooooo 100 monkeys!!! I swear last week I thought of doing this and couldnt see why it wouldnt work so I was gonna post it here to see what everyone had to say about it but after doing a search for an existing thread I could bump instead of starting new I got bored after two pages of searching and went back to work and thought Fuck it I will ask next week. LOL

I was just thinking if a guy bought the card for himself (assuming that the CC is not stolen) and then gave me the number and I spend it then if he cancels it only affects his account so if I have purchased the item isnt it his account that would go into arrears or is it still going to put the account where the giftcard was used into arrears?

The guy does not send the code, he puts your email address as the recipient and Amazon sends you the code.

This reminds me of my circle of friends in high school (and well through uni). Some of them loved the hook-ups but never used protection or bc...and nothing happened for months...or hours, but I had to go with them to the clinic for one reason or another eventually. They wouldn't take the pill or carry condoms because they'd "look like sluts".

Amazon gift cards and non-adult processors seem like the equivalent of the rhythm method and "Well, he looks clean...and he loves me!" I guess when you're young you don't know yet how that works out sometimes.

I dont accept Amazon anymore for clients who didnt first make a purchase using a site that needs a credit card, like ManyVids, Streamate, CMD... The reason is that every minor can buy Amazon UK. I want to make sure I did everything in my power to assure me that the guys paying for my services are 18+.

The conversions are so annoying. I live in Europe and I only deal with Amazon UK, so a lot of American guys get upset because they do not know how to handle British pounds, lol. And when somebody gives me an US card I have to make all these different small orders to avoid customs charges.

Yeah I make my guys go to Amazon.es (spain) now and they cant handle it cause its in Spanish. Its super simple to translate and they dont have to set up a new account. One amazon account will work in all countries but still they struggle. I have taken amazon cards as payment in the past but I dont do it anymore. Guys send them to me as gifts still however cause im always begging for one thing or another They are still good for that!

Default what if you don't receive amazon gift cards someone claims they sent?

I'm kinda weirded out. been having a slow month in general with sales. Two people in the past 24 hours claim to have sent me amazon gift cards but I have not received either one. The first person never got back to me.

Uh, what would you do if someone claims to have sent a card but you didn't get it in your email? Ask them to take it up with amazon on their end for a refund?

Are they trying to buy a show with a giftcard? I would block them and move on. Sounds like you may have the same person trying to waste your time. Maybe the first one disappeared but then came back to try again under a different alias. They do this.

No, trying to buy a video. He first wanted to do through giftrocket so maybe he was planning on getting a refund, he's just been talking excessively about showing me receipts etc. (he showed me one, but just copied text that could have been modified easily).

Every time they obsess over showing you screenshots of their accounts or insist on emailing you any kind of receipt or statement, they are conning you. Every. Single. Time. No exceptions.

It actually worked out and it was helpful he gave me the order number since I was able to contact customer service and figure it out. And he actually did send it and I got it.

I guess the bottom line is that day in and day out, since my own experiences years ago and since we've been responsible for thousands of models that have come through our service, we've seen this play out repeatedly. I know people want that extra few percent...I certainly did. It works out great right up until it doesn't, and then it sets you back in a big way.

In the last few weeks we had 2 models lose their accounts entirely on major websites...models that were pulling $1000-2000/week. That income stream is gone to them forever. That's $50,000 to $100,000 a year they kissed away to help a client troll them with the promise of an extra $20 or $50 or whatever. They were the lucky ones because at least they got paid for what they made up to that point. We can attest to a few more cases where models did it entirely off-site and ended up burned via Giftrocket, Vimeo, and Paypal. These chargebacks hit up to a year later and left them without food for their kids or rent money when they were already behind. Best case scenario, they just lost lifetime access to PayPal for whatever convenience that had in their real life. Worst case scenario, they're living out of their car with no internet trying to ask people here how to cam with a cell phone.

And then there's the clients who are encouraged by the few that do this and demand it from every model they meet. They range from annoying to outright fraudsters once they figure out they can get free cam sex without consequences.

I wont' even get into the complications that come with doing that working with us and putting our studio account at hot water...putting the income of every other model that works there to some degree of risk. That's almost beside the point, but it is a factor in our zero-tolerance policy we're building up to.

There's also the factor of screwing over affiliates that indeed to push traffic to you on the site. You think those clients are "yours" now...great. But that means a) that client is now off the site and not available to other models (hooray for you!), and b) that affiliate just got shafted yet again and decides to send his traffic to fake dating sites instead of the site you're working (hooray for sitting there without clients!). It is a classic "tragedy of the commons" scenario...the cheaters win a little in the short term, but everyone loses in the end.

We had to put out a newsletter and get hard-assed with our policies due to some very real and very tragic scenarios that happened. Its taken quite a toll on us, being trapped between being helpful (especially with children involved) and figuring out we can't save people from themselves.

And the thing that gets me the most is I see the vast majority of models that do work hard and play by the rules...and they bank. There's no need to pick at the edges trying to eek out a few extra dollars. All that mental energy dealing with cheapo scammers or trying to cheat the system, and instead you could be making $100's or even $1000's more by focusing on your hustle. I see another ban notice for a site come through the email and I just sit there and go "WHY WHY WHY!?!?" at the screen now...knowing that I'm in for a few hours of fretting over "But I didn't know, can you talk to them for me..." or "All the top models are doing it!" (No, no they aren't.) or "You're just worried about your cut!" (No, money isn't everything, and without helping to protect everyone else's earnings, we make nothing.)

Don't misunderstand me, I do love my job and I love my models more than anything in the world, but sometimes I do feel like throwing things. This "career suicide by PayPal" (or GR, or Amazon) has to stop.

I would tell them that it has nothing to do with you and that they have to go back to Amazon and sort it out. If they're genuine, they probably messed up the recipient's email part and they can easily get Amazon to cancel it.
