    Default New Dancer-to-be

    Hello all,

I have been browsing around for a month or so here, and will be actively seeking employment in the Portland area in probably a few weeks. I decided to pursue stripperhood about 3 months ago (although the idea wandered through my mind a few years ago). I am pretty excited. My first motivation was an alternate source of income, but the more I have exposed myself to information regarding exotic dancing, the more fascinated and curious I have become. I think of this transition as a sort of adventure and challenge to my paradigm (having been raised Catholic, heehee!), and dammit, I just love to move my body.

I have been learning a lot from YouTube, and from all you lovely ladies here. I went out and got myself an x-pole, and found I freaking love pole dancing, so I think some time down the road, I may get into that arena.

What else can I tell y'all? My profile is pretty bare right now. I'm in Oregon. 5'3", ~110 lbs. Fairly reserved (learning to be a saleswoman will be uncomfortable to begin with), though I like to be goofy, and I think working in a club will be a perfect outlet for the quiet nerd I've always been. I'm thinking of stripping as a business plan to get me where I'm going, though it may turn out to be something I absolutely love and will stay for as long as I can. I think some travel-stripping may be in order!

The hiccup to really digging in right now is I am still trying to figure out shaving and waxing. Seriously. My body rebels . So I will be taking myself over to Body Business pretty soon.

I really look forward to talking with all you ladies (and guys that are out there)!

Welcome around and good luck with your foray into dancing! With stripping, shaving is generally much better than waxing as you have to let the hair grow out to a certain length for waxing. The classic stripper trick is to roll some stick deodorant over your hooha after you've shaved to prevent razor burn, so give that a shot and see how it goes. There are tons of other tips in Body Business, so it's definitely a matter of trying things out to see what works best for you.

Hello!!! Portland has a very cool, very colorful strip club scene! I've danced there quite a few times... I think you'll benefit from traveling, too. The money (in my experience) isn't amazing in Portland. But that doesn't mean you can't make $ there. I think it would be a great city to start dancing. You'll have no trouble getting hired and there are a lot of talented dancers there (especially when it comes to pole stuff) to learn from!

    Hi Jasmine!

Thanks for responding! Do you have any knowledge or experience with Club 205 and Heat Gentlemen's Club? Sorry, I'm kind of blending forum topics here from the club discussion area, but it's a bit scanty for these clubs. I think I read in a thread that you are having some re-injury issues from your pole dancing enthusiasm? How is it doing? Yes, I look forward to watching and learning all those beautiful pole tricks

I don't and never have lived in Portland. I just have a bunch of friends who live there and let me crash with them, so it's always been a convenient spot for my to take occasional stripper trips to. So, someone else may have better info for you and be more familiar with the Portland scene than I am... But, from what I've heard 205 is not a great place to work. I always heard it was essentially a "Denny's" with strippers. Supposedly it has wildly cheap food and a lot of broke kids come into eat... Not to tip. I think Heat is owned by the same company...? Not sure. There are some clubs that are really bad for $ in Portland. Like REALLY bad. Like work a 6 hour shift and leave with $38 kinda bad. But there are some really cool places too. My advice is to go to a club that has a cover charge. There are a lot of clubs in Portland that don't do cover charges and those ones tend to attract people who come in to kill time, eat, chat with the bartender and basically do anything but tip the dancers. I always had good luck at Union Jacks. That place was always packed, while I was there. Portland is one if the few cities where pole tricks actually will improve your profits. Most of the places I worked at there really emphasized their stage shows. Lapdances--not as much. But there are so many clubs there. I don't doubt there are some good lapdance clubs, too. I just never discovered them. Good luck!!

Hello everyone, I'm Ressecup and I'm Black/Italian/ and Native American. I have only danced 1 time in Trenton, NJ @ the club 712 didn't make much money so I though I would shot for NYC. Just need some insight on what would be a good place to start with low house fees.

Yes, the number of clubs in Portland is overwhelming, especially when I have a newbie's perspective on what to look for, so thanks for the tips! Seems like all of the clubs (a whopping total of 3) that I've been to in Oregon are no-hustle clubs. Wonder if that's an Oregon thing? Good luck with your arm!

Yes you are right No Hustle is The Hustle here. I have made moderate amounts at dives like Glimmers, Riverside Corral, Pitiful Princess. These clubs will hire almost anybody so its nice to work with a variety of girls. club 205 hires strictly perfect 10 barbie doll types ... heat is more open minded though but i have never known anyone who made $ at heat.

Trixxi, that's some good info there. I think I probably won't bother with 205 then after what both you and Jasmine said. Maybe you can point me away from the clubs that have frequent underhanded shenanigans going on? I was flipping through the November edition of Exotic, and there was an article about sex trafficking in PDX...snip "often involve(s) strip clubs (a couple are very well known for this) being used as recruiting grounds where pimps find girls...to work for them. Clubs are also often used in the 'breaking in' process for underage girls...The stripping becomes a step in the process of 'turning out' a girl or making her a prostitute" end snip (Stranger, Elle. "Erotic Muse Investigates." Exotic Nov. 2013: 24-25. Print.) There probably isn't a perfect club to work at, but I would like to just go and dance and keep it clean to make money and get my goals accomplished without getting caught up in an investigation or something just by being at the wrong place at the wrong time/ Any sort of perspective you could offer on that would be greatly appreciated!

As far as what Elle mentioned well in one way i agree because as a dancer u do encounter pimps a lot ... but once u know who they are u just dont let them waste your time ... so far the minor dancers i work with already have a kind of bad girl attitude ... and stripping does change you not for better or worse but changes you ... so I think thats what Elle means when she talks about stripping being a "breaking" in place where pimps meet girls. Every day you strip you are going to ecounter A Lot of people u dont like or agree with ... if that person bothers u and they offer u no financial promise u are free to walk away and cannot willingly be coerced into some pimps harem. Most other girl are quick to identify pimps too. That being said u are likely to get ripped off on lap dances every one in awhile ... u are likely to not make consistent $ ie some days u dont even get a dollar ... u are likely to occasionally see your coworkers doing extras i feel like this is more day to day stripping ... as far as my 6 months at pitiful princess

Hey Trixxi, no I'm not a minor. And totally aware that stripping will be a new evolution regardless if I steer clear of the party lifestyle. Yep, I know that I will brush elbows with some slime. If I was scared away by the prospect of coming up close to that kind of stuff, I guess I'd know stripping isn't for me. My goal is to not touch that "extra" world in any way. Reading through the forums has really helped with putting my potential toolbox together to deal with those situations as they arise (i.e., customers asking how far I will go, putting their hands on me, being aggressive...). Thanks for the response!

ok well based on your age weight etc that u told me i would try these clubs in this order: stars, spyce, mystic, wild orchid i say these clubs because they are "considered" more upscale and have more security so less chances of girls doing extras. u "may" be able to get into devils pt / lucky devil depending on your look. also what part of town are u in?? if u are in se portland u should check out to pitiful princess and say hi to me!!! also no matter what club u end up dancing at there will be extras going on somewhere at some time, but it a personal choice to do that or not. i prefer dancing at Pitiful even though I hate the name ... I like the small club atmophere more and it works well with my natural hustle. I think when u start dancing though u will really learn what hustle style feels best for u and thus find a club that matches that style. u will realize what type of customers like u and also find a club that caters to those customers as well. check out ecdysiast pole dance studio if u want to get some honest advice and critique on the pole. PM me and id be happy to give you my cell # and talk
