I'm thinking of getting an EB-5 Visa, which is basically a way to buy US green card, and eventually nationality.
Basically I would need to invest $500k for 5-6 years, at a risk of loss, and average interest rates at best.
Right now I have a status that allows me to stay for a year longer, but no working allowed.
Some of the investment projects look really good. There was a chance to invest in a lot of medical facilities, old age homes, renovations to major NY infrastructure, and more.
However I also noticed one of their projects was the W Hotel Downtown NYC, which very well could have been bankrupted by the noise from World Trade Ctr reconstruction, and they're lucky they hung in there.
The $500k would include all of my savings and a financial gift from my bf. So basically I would have all my eggs in one basket.
Any thoughts?
