    Default Packing Heat

So I was wondering if any of you ladies carry handguns. I recently completed training for my concealed pistol license, and purchased a .38 revolver. The class I took was AMAZING, and I would personally recommend ANY dancer to take a personal protection class--not saying a gun is right for everyone, but learning the psyche of men who are a threat is priceless.

I hope to god I never, ever have to use it, but after dealing with a psycho whom I have a protection order against (that he repeatedly violates and has only been caught once), I've realized the importance of my personal safety.

IMO, regardless of our stage names, if someone wants to stalk your as- , they will stalk your as-!

What does everyone do to stay safe, and has anybody dealt with extreme psychos ?
I'd grab my trumpet and I'd do a stripper sound, like the old Louis Armstrong, real raspy. And the people would go nuts! Then I knew that the sexual, sensual, guttural sound, that throbbing sound, is where it's at.

yup. my gun is only for two places though. I don't have my carry conceal yet as I've been dragging ass on doing it for the last year.
but yes that's something that I definitely want.
Definitely has upped my comfort level when I'm travelling, staying in motels, or home alone.

I can say this: I do private bachelor parties in addition to working clubs. (We always bring a bouncer with us.) I did one fraternity party recently and it went very well and the guys were nice. One of them saw my taser when I was fumbling through my bag and wanted to play with it. So them being frat boys with the "Jackass" mentality, they lined up and tased each other for kicks. I will tell you that some of them yelled and bucked a little, some didn't even flinch. I'm glad I got to see that because now I know my taser isn't nearly as strong as I would need to deter an attacker. If I used that one during an attack I would more likely piss them off than anything.

I keep a gun in my car because I have to drive out of town to the boonies to one of my clubs. If someone decided to run me off the road in the middle of nowhere I feel a little better just having it. It by no means guarantees my safety, but like they say I'd rather have one and not need it than need one and not have it.

Aside from that I know a lot of girls who carry guns on them to and from work. It's not something they will speak about openly so as not to get in trouble and protect from thieves.

Hope your stalker situation gets resolved. Hugs

Congratz on completing your training & getting your licence!

I did several yrs of martial arts, & my roommate/ex-bf also has a background in a different martial art. Sm times we spar now that we are no longer several states apart, & while he is my height he's built like a fking tank, so we keep each other on our toes when we are going at it.

I'm wanting to get my conceal carry once I get sm $$ set aside. I grew up w/ guns in the house & nvr had a problem having them around but my own lack of exp makes me a bit uneasy handling them. The bitch of it for me is that while VA honours reciprocity w/ FL & TX, where a lot of my family is in the U.S., MD doesn't, so when I cross the border to visit them I have to do the whole p.i.t.a. Clip-in-the-console-gun-in-the-boot business. And of course I can't take it into D.C. at all.

I have also carried a nifty little gravity-assisted pocket knife for the last several yrs. Work is typically the only place I go w/o steel-toe boots (damn that business-casual, no-shitkickers-allowed dress code!).

All of the above, along w/ situational awareness that occasionally borders on paranoia, have kept me going this long.

Along this vein, one of my brothers is ex-military & a former cop as well. We were talking abt various self-defence methods once & he told me that smtg like 10-15% of the population is also immune to the chemical composition of most pepper sprays. I was nvr inclined to use pepper spray as I'm so clumsy, I'd probably be *that guy* who ends up spraying themselves, but it was a sobering thing to consider.

I am an avid shooter I really enjoy it have my whole life. Here is my one problem with girls that want to carry a gun. A gun is a tool and like anything you have to practice with it and often. So if you are going to carry one you should know how to break it down clean it put it back together assuming it is not a revolver. You need to practice with it a LOT it should be something that becomes natural taking a class is not enough no where even near enough. You need to know the laws in your state/city for self defense. Spend $500 on a lawyer have him on retainer and talk to him about what is legal and what is not. Having a gun that you carry on yourself is a HUGE responsibility and should not be taken lightly at all. I am not against it not even close to that but always COVER YOUR ASS!!!! ALWAYS!!! I do not carry a gun I am home 90% of the time and I know the laws for in my home and on my property. I would not hesitate to shoot someone. So if you want to be a woman and carry a gun (I know that is the wrong term but it is the common one) take the time to invest into yourself and make sure you know exactly what you are getting into and what your rights are. Please do not listen to the Second Amendment guy down the street speak to your police chief your sheriff your prosecuting attorney and get a lawyer. Practice a lot and then practice some more.

Thanks for the responses. ^ Completely agree 100% on this one. I never would carry into work; by our laws you can't carry into an establishment who's main source of income comes from alcohol. Even if that WASN'T the case, having a gun in a place where purses get stolen, people are drinking, and people get stoopid is just a BAD combination. And I can't assume I'd land many dances with a gun secured in my garter LOL.

The reason I decided to go with a concealed license is this: assume someone is carjacking you/trying to grab you at a light with an attempt to kill, etc...the chances of being able to A) get in the trunk and B) loading it and C) defending yourself seem IMO slim to none. Although I think (as mentioned earlier) it can provide peace of mind and is great for those of us who stay at hotels or somewhere in the middle of nowhere. Just my .10

I STRONGLY agree with training, training, and more training. I currently shoot around 3x a week at the range, and continue taking classes where one is trained how to shoot walking backwards, in dark situations, etc.

For those of you with guns, which kind(s) do you have?

I have an H&K 45 which I adore it is bigger but it WILL stop a person PERIOD! Hubby is an ex cop and he does not recommend anything below a 40 for self defense 9mm tend to bounce off of objects and I know they may or may not stop a person. I say that but the Walther PK380 is a nice pistol I had a chance to shoot one and it is perfect size for a purse. If it is a womans first gun I strongly recommend a revolver just because it is easy to clean and maintain and easy to use less working parts so less things to go wrong when you need it.

A lot of weapons are not legal to possess in my country. Not only handguns but mace, tasers, etc. So offensive options for my protection are pretty limited. When leaving work most of the time I cab, unless it's dayshift, then often I would walk to and from work. My cab will drop me at the intersection I live because I'm not comfortable with them knowing the building I live in, and also it's right on the corner anyway so safe and I don't have to walk far. When it was convienient I would also take public transit, it's very safe in my city, busy, lots of people, and I have an app on my phone I use to see exactly where/when the bus is coming so I don't have to wait outside for more than 30 seconds. I don't tell customers the real neighbourhood I live in, but that seems like common sense to me for a deterrent to stalking. I'm more concerned about everyday break ins since I live on the ground floor of a building. Why I never keep more than $500 around my apartment ever and why when I found a metal baseball bat at the park it found a nice new home beside my bed

Yes, this^! My roomie has lots o' guns (so he says, I have seen a Glock in the pantry lol) does that count?
Having been 'drawn upon' you'd think I'd consider carrying but eh..
Edit to add: Having gone back & reread OP's original post..yes. My ex coworker, whom I also dated, looked my addresses (former ones too) & phone # up on the 'net, & phoned me after like 12+ years of not seeing each other/no contact.
I called police, they called him, he stopped, then..several years later called me again, + wrote me a love letter ugh. I also sent a registered letter saying to NEVER contact me again, in any way.
After he contacted me a couple times more (& I called the police) he finally stopped, but yeah it was truly scary. I was also kinda isolated due to several reasons, so I didn't have any fam/friends to check on me..
It sucks, but the only suggestion I can make is to try & have ppl you know look out for you..I also took some suggestions from a book I read (can't remember the title now sorry).
Anyway I wish you the best!

You're all so SMART about guns! My vanilla friends never use this much logic, lol. Anyway, I'm a CHL holder and I carry everywhere it's logical and legal to carry (not at the strip club of course). I have various other weapons and training for situations in which a firearm isn't appropriate. I don't believe self defense is an option. It's a natural part of life.

i really want to get one soon, i've been shooting since i was a young teenager but it was mostly hunting rifles , only shot off a hand gun twice! i have two BS simple assault charges for defending myself against my ex so i'm still hoping i can get a license, have to look into that and find a VERY safe place that my son will never find just to be safe. i've been letting him practice ( under a ton of supervision) with a small bb gun trying to teach im responsibility and safety with them early.

I would look at that walther runs around $400 or so and fairly easy to use. If you are worried about your son then I would absolutely use a lock on it. They have two kinds one is a trigger lock it goes on both sides of the trigger which allows you to leave the clip in the gun but does not allow it to be fired. I would keep the key on ME! Like around your neck. The other kind you take the clip out and leave the action open run it through that and lock it. I would not depend on hiding it kids find everything. Your other option is a box or a safe both which run around $100 or so of course you can get more expensive ones. The nice thing about a safe is you can put your jewelry in there and extra cash. Shooting competitions are great for kids a controlled environment where they can have some fun.

It's so interesting hearing everyone's input ! For the non-revolver owners: how bad is the kick with yours ? Mine took a while to get used to ..... Mine kicks up....a lot . I've noticed when shooting rifles the kick tends to be "back" as opposed to "up"
