Default how to keep a shorter hairstyle from looking soccer mom

i'm gonna try and keep this short and sweet lol, i have a thin face and while im desperately trying to gain some weight i don't want my long hair to drag my face down and make it seem longer and thinner a la sarah jessica parker but on the other hand, i don't want to get a long bob/shoulder length hairstyle and have it look like a matronly, frumpy, soccer mom. usually when i get a shorter haircut it makes me look 12, but i don't want to take any chances. didn't find a whole lot on google..the hair cuts they were saying looked edgy looked "housewife" to me ( no offense to housewives, yall know what i mean )
for work i will wear extensions, but for my normal life i guess i'm just wondering if there are longer haircuts ( mid-back) that can add volume to your face, and what you can do with a shoulder length style to make sure it looks young, fresh, slightly edgy. thank you guys

yeah, another problem i just realized is that if i cut it any shorter, it will frizz out and go spastic on me. the length weighs it down

I agree with Tempest based on trying a shorter style myself that I've now been trying to grow out for over a year. Maybe some long layers around your face will break it up while keeping the sexy length for the most part.

Ashley Olsen had a pretty cool long angled bob recently. Also, I think Michelle Williams pulls off the pixie look without looking like that TV mom with the 50 kids.

I just cut off all my hair. It was the typical long blonde and now it does the frizzy thing. One thing I have found that helps it is putting in some gel and blow drying it from the back forward so the hair stays that way, then hairspray it. I had mentally prepared myself to cut it for about 3 months so I could be confident no matter what and it actually has been making me more money. There's only two other girls with short hair at my club. Lots of people have commented on how they feel chicks with short hair are more spunky. I feel like my hair looks like a housewife at times, but they seem to dig it. I say do what makes you FEEL at your best. It's what counts the most anyways, and sales skills.

I think a side part and teasing for volume might help. Also you can make your face look rounder with make up. Don't know if you've tried all of this already though..

^ all the makeup tricks are all for making your face more angular, highlighting cheekbones, etc..so its hard for me to actually find tips for making it look rounder! seems not a lot of ppl want that..so i guess i haven't really tried that out yet!

^I think that's a good point, too. Rounder, or square, faces do tend to rock the short hair better.

Have you lopped it off yet Simone? Think hard about it. Tmpest1 and me both have experience with short hair and let me tell you long hair is just easier. Men are visual creatures. They like manes of hair.

nah i haven't lopped it off, i curled the ends to see what it would look like a bit shorter ( i would never do a pixie cut again, just shoulder-length maybe a bit shorter).i don't have the balls yet!

The only reason I make money with my short hair is because their attention is directed elsewhere
