    Default Products to cover tattoo?

I'm doing a Photoshoot in a couple of weeks and I need to cover a tattoo. Are there any products that work well for this? I've heard some bad reviews on the kat Von d stuff. Has anyone tried it?

I use the dermablend line that Ulta has. I don't know if your area has an Ulta but you can buy it online. It consists of a primer(really thick tube like lipstick. Good for your skin). Let it dry for five minutes then put on the leg/body concealer. Blend it in and let it dry. Then pat on some setting powder. Because I use it for dancing and times when I'll be wearing clothes for an extended period, I spray on some Ben Nye makeup setting stuff that hard core actors use for dramatic stage makeup. Lather rinse repeat until the tattoo is gone. :-) The dermablend line costs about $80 altogether and the Ben Nye is an additional $20 online. Good luck!! :-)

My friend went today to get dermablend and she said it looked like a "blob"...maybe it wasn't blended well? Any other brands that anyone has used?

I use tube dermablend with a setting powder (will try the stage setting spray too now).

Ive heard the tub of dermablend is better.

Another vote for Dermablend. You have to be careful that it's well-matched to your skin tone (test it against your tattoo, not your wrist!) and be prepared to layer. I like setting it with MUFE HD power between layers, but Dermablend has their own coloured powder as well. I don't like it as much because I find the colour-on-colour to be too ashy against my very pale skin.

If you're going to be wearing any kind of dark bottoms I'd recommend you bring at least 2 exactly the same. It doesn't matter how much you use, it WILL come off and leave tracks against black or darker coloured fabric, especially if you're posing/moving around in the clothing.

The stuff in the tub is best, but if it's well matched and blended you can get away with any formulation except powder only.

    Good luck!

Edit: I just realized you were asking specifically about Kat V D. Dermablend is better, more opaque, slightly less expensive and just as accessible. Even KVD tattoo liner products smudge a bit on well-moisturized skin, don't waste your money when there's better for less.

I think I've tried almost everything. I'd cosign behind well-matched Dermablend and Illamasqua, MUFE HD powder... and not really much else. I know it sounds crazy, but Sally Hansen + a good powder in layers works pretty well too, if you're not going to be dealing with too much friction (nude shoots). It can be tricky to blend though... the key is really the opacity of the product, the match to your skin tone in the area you're trying to cover, and your ability to blend it well. For Sally Hansen, I spray it directly onto my hand or a disposable (plate/paper/whatever I have) and use a stippling brush to get it exactly where I want it.
