Default How to get this hairstyle?

So I am incredibly bored of my hair - it's been straight and blonde for several years. It hits below my shoulder blades and has very little lift or volume. I am really pretty bad at styling - I can straighten it further, do pretty tight spiral curls with a straightener, and that's about it.

This: http://kulturakustombrasil.blogspot....na-kelley.html is what I would really like it to do. I know hers is much longer than mine and possibly extensions, but how would you girls suggest to style it?

It looks like she does an uneven messy sort of part - my hair is so thick and heavy it won't hold in a part that's not a straight line. The bottom layer of curls look thick and loose, with the top being wispy and tighter - how would I get the loose ones? She also has a lot of volume and lift at the roots - any product suggestions or techniques to do that? I have tried tilting my head upside down, blow drying the roots, all the typical stuff, and it either does nothing or makes my hair poofy.

    Thanks in advance!!

Have you tried teasing your hair? I personally don't do it but SO many girls do and it looks good if done right! I'm sure theres thousands of youtube videos showing you how to do it too. And as for the curls you should really get a wand. Maybe get one thick one and one thinner one. And get extensions!! She is totally wearing extensions in that first picture (I think..) and for some reason extensions curl way better and hold the curl too and just make a huge difference in your hair (I went to work without them for the first time because I figured my hairs already long and it was a big mistake.. lol)

When you curl your hair with extensions generally (from my experience) the bottom curls will fall by the time your done and they will be looser curls. That first pic looks like a thicker wand would've been used on all her hair so maybe you won't need the thinner wand. The top layer is curled more just because it's not being weighed down by hair. I really think all you need is a layered haircut (shorter, chin length layers will give you more volume and let the top curls stay better) with long extensions and a thick wand! And lots of hairspray to make it stay because thicker curls don't stay as long (on me anyway).

I'm not sure about the part situation though because I never have a specific part... but with extensions and the right curler it'll look really pretty wherever your part is.

Hope that was helpful! I love curling my hair haha

Just FYI, baby bangs (super short pin-up bangs) are a BITCH. They never look quite right without ridiculous amounts of product. Forget going outside if it's windy, raining, or even somewhat humid.

just the first pic? lots of hair volumizer/mousse while you're drying it ( i love the selma hayek volumizer! you can get it at cvs), then you can get hair wax product that you put at at the roots to make it lift. teasing will also work. looks like layers all through out the hair, especially near the front which you could get with some large rollers or a large barreled curling iron. i feel like i'm not looking at the same pic as everyone else though..??

This must depend on your hair type. I have them most of the time and never really have any problems. I do trim the strays almost daily when I do. It is a MAJOR commitment.

^ you mean the hair wax? its just this waxy, thick substance that comes in this little jar, and you kinda warm it between your fingers and then apply it to the roots of your hair as close to your scalp as you can get it and it lifts the hair, its awesome. the brand i have is some weird irish brand nobody's ever heard of but i think bedhead has some

also guys try the product by got2B called volumizing powder , it works great! I use that plus hairspray before & after i tease my hair. I also use that same volumizing mousse ^ it works great! Also the secret to teasing hair properly is to have layers on top & also use thinning shears to take out the bulk of hair up top so it won't weigh down the tease. That's what I do & i also wear extensions, wigs Don't use alot of conditionor either!

Thank you girls! I totally forgot I had posted this thread, doy *facepalm*

I saw my stylist 2 days ago and she re-did my layers, and we discussed extensions... which I am going to now start another thread on, because I am so confused. But I definitely want to try them!

I will have to get a wand as well, they look like they do a great jobl! I've never seen them in the stores here though. Anybody have a brand they recommend?

hot tools is a popular one that works pretty well. you don't even necessarily need a wand though. I used to have a regular curler with a clamp but just ignored the clamp and wrapped my hair around it like a wand. usually you have to go to a beauty supply store i think.. well that's where I usually see them (not at target or any pharmacies)
