    Default Quick Question! Please read.

I've done camming 1 night.. actually maybe 2 or 3. And I liked it. I just want to go into the medical field and that scared me because of being recorded, etc. Tried stripping 6 years ago, but I was too shy(I was way younger, and I know I will still be shy now.. but I don't think as bad). Now I want to try dancing again. Saw on CL that about 30 minutes away from me, there is a new really nice club that is hiring, and they said that they would accept new dancers. I sent him pictures (not nude, just of my body and face) and he wants me to come in tomorrow. He called me, and told me he wants me to dance to 2 songs on stage, then we would talk after.

    My question are....
    1. What do they expect from a new dancer? I've 1. never been on stage 2. never danced. So what do they expect from a new dancer, if they are posting that they would hire new dances. Just for a girl to get up there and move around? I mean it's not like I would know ANY tricks yet.
    2. My girlfriend wants to do it as well. Would it be a bad idea to bring her in with me so she can come in and talk to him/dance as well?

Thank you! I am just clueless and need some advice. Thanks ladies.

    1. You dance seductively. You remove clothing. If you can look at what the other girls at the club do, you'll have a much better idea. Maybe watch some youtube sexy dance videos. You don't need to know tricks but you should practice dancing sexy in the mirror. They won't expect a lot but you should still do your best. Sometimes simplicity makes for a better stage performance anyways.

    2. Your friend is not invited. She is welcome to send her photos to the club and they can respond to her personally. Don't make yourself look foolish by allowing someone to tag along to your audition. Would you bring a friend to a job interview? I don't think so.

    Okay other questions -

When you start on stage, do you wear like a dress, and then slowly get down to topless and thong? Or what should I start out in? Also - I am going to go buy an outfit tonight, and shoes.. I don't have either. Any suggestions as far as what to get? I'm also going to get a pole I think to practice tonight with.

I also have a tattooed name on me. They are okay with tattoos, but should I try to cover this name up? Or if he asks, say it's someone that passed away? Or what should I do regarding that?

One more thing - do they usually let you pick the songs you audition to? Or no? If so - what are 2 good songs that would be good to dance to? I'm clueless.

You can find general answers to all of these questions in the Newbie Board. Go over there, start w/ the stickies at the top & work your way down. Many of the answers you're looking for are also very club-specific & you will have plenty of opportunity to discuss them w/ the mgr.

Don't worry too much abt being green, you won't be the first clueless new girl that's ever walked into a club. Read like mad here, prepare your questions, then get your ass in there & start making that $$$$!

You should call the club and ask what their dress code is for auditions. I have no clue what kind of club this is. Do they have a website? Have you read their reviews online and on stripper web?

Don't go buying poles. That's not your concern right now. You're overthinking things. Stop before you go off the deep end.

I don't know this club's tattoo policy. You should ask about that when you call them. If they ask about your tattoo tell them it's a secret. Dead relative? Really?

Take a deep breath... you're stressing ME out and I'm not the one auditioning tomorrow! Jeeze.

As for picking your own songs, you probably won't be able to. It's not some performance piece... you're getting on stage moving around, getting undressed, and hopefully getting a job two songs later.

also ask the club if they will issue IRS form 1099's for money paid to you by the club ( i.e. customer charges to credit card etc. ). If so, then this may turn up in a future background check when you apply for your medical field state professional license.

Also, check to see if a dancer's license is required in your city. If so, as a matter of public record, this could potentially turn up in a future background check as well.

Oooo. Thanks for replying with this! I know a license is not required. So if they do 1099's.... how do I find out for sure if it will show up in a future background check?

Also - would it be bad if I emailed them (that's how I have been talking) to ask how they pay/etc? I mean, ideally I would rather not give my real name, but won't they have to take ID and such to proove my age? Ideally I just want no record proof of this.

Yes they are required to take your real name, address, and SS# to comply with Patriot Act requirements re 'legal' workers. This info will also be used for the club to issue 1099 forms to the IRS if the club's business model involves paying dancers in cash for customer credit card charges etc. The 1099 info becomes part of the IRS database, and can potentially be disclosed to future 'professional' employers, to state professional licensing agencies etc. However, for this to happen, this would require that you fill out an IRS permission form 4506-T in the name of that future 'professional' employer or state professional licensing agency. So you'll know they'll be looking if, after you graduate, they stick a form 4506-T in front of you when you apply for your professional license and/or a 'professional' job.

Do you know how often that is, that they will ask you for that information? Like - how often will I get a 4506-T thrown infront of me for a medical job? Would you happen to know by chance? I'm terrified now because I put so much into school.. if I should even go apply now. Scared it can hurt my future? Is this likely? I felt like that's why I wanted to do stripping over camming, to avoid people finding out as likely. I'm going to travel 30-40 min out of the city to avoid that.

BTW thanks for all your help!

Also - could I not lie and say that I was working as a server? Or would it say entertainer?

Bring your ID. Bring your SS card. Many clubs want to verify that you are of age. If it is a chain club, they need your SS to pay you.

As of this moment, you have nothing to worry about. You haven't been hired. Quit putting the cart before the horse.

You can't just roll up into a club and expect things to be all anonymous. That's not how businesses work. They have to make sure you can work there and that they can pay you. Don't act daft. You'd need the same documents to work in a fast food joint. This is work. It's not some shady underground secret. Sure, some clubs could care less about your name, age, and citizenship... but most of those clubs aren't the sort you want to work for anyway.

Come prepared... or be prepared to waste your time.

I do worry about how comfortable you are with lies in general...

Ehhh... anyway, documents would list you as an independent contractor or entertainer. You can make up whatever you want when the time comes.

it really depends on the club. i'm totally anonymous at every club i've ever worked at. they asked to see my ID only to verify that i was of age. nobody has my SS# there, full legal name, address etc. they gave me a form and told me i could make up a name and an address if i wanted, they didn't care. its not a nasty, gross club either. you can have the option of becoming an employee but i declined because, like you, i don't want it to hurt any future career i could have. and if you are entering the medical field, your worries are not unfounded

I agree with ya. I've worked at entirely anonymous well-run clubs too. I've worked at paperless clubs that were, let's just say, less than ideal. Maybe I came across harsh. Either way, the gal with the questions should come to the audition with ID/SS cards just in case. Some clubs just look at the ID, some clubs photocopy the ID, some clubs have you fill out papers, some clubs take you at your word and don't even ask for ID. We don't know where the club is or what the deal is. Every time I audition I bring ID and my social security card... a prospective dancer should come over prepared and save the hassle of having to come back again with whatever ID the club needs. If the club doesn't ask for anything, no harm no foul, at least that stuff is on hand.

You're asking an impossible to answer question ... regarding what sort of background checks that state professional licensing agencies and/or 'professional' employers will be performing several years into the future when you finally graduate and apply for your state medical license and a 'professional' medical job. For all I know, by that time, they'll be doing facial recognition searches that could turn up your picture on a strip club website, could turn up a picture of you on a strip club stage that was shot and subsequently posted by a club customer, etc. - with 1099's being a minor consideration.

There's a fairly in-depth discussion about these issues in Dollar Den. I don't want to be accused of 'fear mongering' by overblowing actual risks. However, I recently got cited and fined for 'unprofessional conduct' ( with a citation letter placed in my professional license file for every 'professional' employer to immediately see ) when a new background check performed by a state professional licensing agency for my Respiratory Therapist license renewal turned up a 1099 from an adult business, meaning that the risk is not zero. Granted that in my case I already held a Respiratory Therapist license at the time the 1099 was generated.

anyway, documents would list you as an independent contractor or entertainer. You can make up whatever you want when the time comes.
This is of course true. However, it's not a given that you'll be provided an opportunity to explain ... versus the prospective 'professional' employer simply letting the resume' slip into the waste basket and moving on to the next applicant whose background check came up squeaky clean.
