    Dizzy Female Customers Have Issues

Here is an article I happened upon today: http://www.salon.com/2013/10/06/why_..._to_strippers/

It's a convoluted mess at some points. Rife with hypocrisy, double standards, a brief rational moment then some envy, pity, emotional roller coaster rides, etc.... it's a dizzying read.

I am still amazed that ladies are threatened by this profession.

If anyone has thoughts on the matter, feel free to share 'em. I'm just confused.

This whole article is one big fucking EYEROLL.

"If only my 21 year-old self could see me now."

Yeah, as an hugely insecure, narrow-minded partner. Ugh. Whatthefuckever.

I just don't understand her logic. She basically says that she was the "cool with anything chick" but now that she's getting married, she doesn't want to be anymore. Shouldn't getting married make you feel more secure? You know you have the guy so that should be the point you chill out, right? It almost seems like she's saying that she just forced herself to fake being "cool" with strippers and porn for the sake of attracting someone so that once she had them, she could stop pretending - sooo, presenting a false image of herself that she's gonna flip a 180 on once the guy was used to an entirely different set of behaviors.

    Sounds healthy...

Her insecurities are more about men than strippers. Before she found a man she was all, "Strippers! Teach me how to be desirable to men!" and after she found a man she was like, "Strippers! Don't you dare use your mystical sexual powers to take my man!" Either way it's funny how she talks about us with an awe bordering on terror.

Sounds like the typical insecure gf, fiancee, or wife.

Hatred and fear of another woman's seductive power.

These ladies fail to realize that majority of these men go home to THEM. Now I could see her point of the husband had an addiction to strip clubs but for cryin out loud a bachelor party is a one-time event.

To be honest I wouldn't like a man I was going to marry to have a bachelor party with strippers, whether it was in the club or a party. Yes that makes me a hypocrite but after seeing some of the things that have happened (or heard of) I am leery. It has nothing to do with my fear he will leave me for someone else, just all the other stuff.

The column was a mildly interesting read, that certainly reeked of hypocrisy. But keep in mind, as a writer, it is her job to take what seems to be, maybe, 15 insignificant seconds of her life and blow it up into a paycheck.
It did remind me tangentially of this article

I asked a friend of mine to come to a club with me for fun since she had never been before, and her bf was with her that night. I responded that she should just bring him with us since it's just a club. To which she replied that she wasn't at that stage in her relationship with him where she would feel secure enough to go to a club with him. She would totally go another night without him though.

Typical stuff. Totes cool with strippers doing their thing as long as their thing doesn't involve her bf in any way shape or form lol.

I would agree w/ Kellydancer on this one. Now I will be the first to admit that I have had trust issues in the past, been cheated on, etc -- but stripping actually helped me to break free from that (mostly -- tho very occasionally my mind will still go sm where ugly I am much less likely to let myself jump to accusatory conclusions).

Last nite I was reading this thread & thinking, if my current roommate/ex bf got back together, how would I feel abt this? We have known each other for a long time &'I trust him completely, which is not smtg I say abt very many ppl. Idk if SCs are his thing anyway, & I think he also has a bit different perspective on them since he knows so much of my own experiences as a dancer, both good & bad.

Thing is, altho stripping has opened my eyes in a positive way to so many things, there are also undeniably the things you can't unsee, like the girl at my last club who would pull a guy's hand inside her thong during dances whether he wanted it or not, or the pushy girls who try to solicit for drugs or OTC. Yes, I know it is very hard to truly overhear things in the club, but these are the things I am most concerned abt.

When will women learn that Strippers DON'T WANT *their* man!?!?!

Strippers want to entertain, drink champagne, and get paid. The end!

I think you nailed it. But jeeze, there is a lot of resentment going on. It's a shame.

I've seen so many things and while we all want to think the dancers are all clean etc we know sadly that isn't the case. When I did bachelor parties I did strictly legit clean ones and most of the men were good guys (in fact most of the bachelors told me they loved their fiancee and had no interest in my dancing). However, there were cases of men trying to get sex, getting sex from other entertainers (generally women who came in after me who were strictly prostitutes)or men pressured into doing things they never wanted.

I did go to clubs with a boyfriend I had 18 years ago but at the time I was dancing, he worked in the industry as well and we went to a club where we both knew most of the other dancers (and they were clean). He had no interest in getting dances though tipped them all. I don't think I would have been jealous at all but I trusted these dancers and him. If I ever get serious with this one guy friend of mine I don't see him having a bachelor party or attending a club because that isn't his style nor the style of the men he hangs out with (mostly happily married men).

This is what I was thinking!!!! I'm completely new at this but I've known for years (because it's common sense) that a stripper doesn't want to fuck the dudes she's stripping for. Not generally. I guess it's not so common sense after all. The only stereotype I ever had in my head about strippers is that they are strong women doing whatever they need to do to make it in the world.

Maybe the jealousy is not because they think the strippers want their man...maybe it's because they know their man wants the strippers? But if you honestly think you can complete 50 or so years of marriage with your man NEVER ONCE feeling a stirring in his loins caused by the physical appearance of another female human being...you've got your head in the sand. I mean, I'm not saying that women should be okay with their men going to strip clubs...I'm just saying I don't know WHY they aren't, because attraction to other people is a normal, natural, non-threatening thing whether it's attraction to a woman at the bus stop or a woman grinding in your lap.

When I know that my husband is attracted to someone else, my first thought isn't, "This is somehow detrimental to me". I don't think he's going to leave me. I don't think she's better than me. I don't (necessarily) think she's some type of danger to him. I just think he likes someone. He may not even like HER, he may just like her ass. Either way, I don't make life decisions based on every little insecurity I ever feel. If I feel threatened by someone who doesn't even know me, I sit down and have a long, hard look inside myself to see what the REAL problem is.

Maybe some wives and girlfriends out there should do the same thing.

This chick is a young mess and might have a major control issues in her future marriage. Her writing is all over the place too. She simply have to mature and adjust to reality if she wants to bond with her guy.
I work with couples in the club all the time, they are mostly married, but occasionally i get people in relationship who are dating for a while. Every dance, every hour in VIP with them confirms one simple thing-the secret of their trusting and happy relationship is the ability of the wife/gf to be open-minded in a company of a dancer and appreciate beauty/humor/mind of another woman just like her guy does. It also helps that i whisper to the wife/gf's ear:"No worries, i dont' steal what does not belong to me" - they tip me much more at the end than single guys!

I think the author is very insecure about her relationship. It's sad.

Couples coming into the club together vs. a guy being out and about with his bro's at a bachelor party are two different things. The author neglects the fact that the bachelor party scenario, based on my experience, is usually far more benign. It's far less intimate, it's more about theatrics, it's more about putting on a show for the guys than it is about seducing the prospective groom. The bro's want to see the soon-to-be-married guy put into silly & compromising positions, they want to see him teased and playfully humiliated... it's a social ritual that has little to do with any sort of infidelity... I don't get it, personally.... but I am happy to play along.

Some couples are great. I can honestly say that I have a warm spot in my heart for open-minded, good natured couples that visit clubs. The ones that recognize that this is just a titillating form of entertainment are the best. They hang out, get dances/rooms, tip well, and leave to go back to their house or hotel room to screw like rabbits till the sun rises.

I think the author was trying too hard to convince her readers of how open minded she was about dancers and strip clubs. When push came to shove she didn't want the guy she is going to spend the rest of her life with to go. Too bad she's too clueless to realize that he'll probably spend more time in strip clubs after he's married than he ever did when he was single! The only time I've taken a woman to a club with me was when it was a dancer who wanted to check out the club. I see a lot of angry looking women in strip clubs with their husbands or BFs trying to appear open minded but not being very convincing. Why go at all? An even bigger question to me is why do these guys even drag their women along with them? I wonder sometimes if the ladies just go along to keep an eye on their guy.

When I think on it, I think the fact that the groom-to-be being pushed into these compromising situations is exactly what the wife-to-be is afraid of. We all know how easy it can be to just say Fkit & get swept up in the herd mentality. I had a bachelor customer once who was a perfect gentleman until he got soaked, then he was doing pretty much whatever his mates told him to do, including trying to stick his fingers in my back door. That was the exception to all of the bachelor parties I've done(always ITC, FWIW), but an occurrence like that shows that even when the dancers don't intend anything but harmless & innocent (relatively speaking) fun, that can all go right to hell in a handbasket if the bachelor's buddies have other ideas.
