Default Do You Have To Change In The Dressing Room?

Or can I run to the bathroom and strip down there quickly? I feel like my body in natural or fluorescent lighting looks horrendous. I wasn't able to afford a tan this week so I was hoping I could change in the bathroom and run onto the floor where the black light is...But then I'd have to leave my crap SOMEWHERE.

Does anyone do that? I'm being overly insecure, I know. I guess I'm also nervous to be around so many women. I mostly have male friends. =\

I call them Un-Dressing rooms. LOL. No one cares about how your body looks in fluorescent lights (unless this is an audition). You can always do what I've done.

Sometimes, when I wear short dresses/lingerie I put them on at home...

The thong & dress or lingerie etc. goes on.
I put on leggings or yoga pants over or under my work outfit.
    Then I put on a sweater/sweatshirt/etc.
My street shoes (converse sneakers or boots usually).
    It's December... so I wear a coat...
    No one knows.

I show up in the dressing room and I take off my pants (though I'm starting to think this can be even easier with a dress!), I remove my shirt/sweater, change into my platforms, and in under two minutes I am good to go.

I'm not shy. Soon enough, you won't be shy either. I'm all about efficiency though... I love showing up and, much like Clark Kent (of Superman fame), transforming into STRIPPER Superstar Sophia_Starina at light-speed. Gals at my job think I'm nuts sometimes, but I'm on the floor before they are so.... mo' money, mo' money.

There are ways to switch into and out of clothing without getting undressed... I do this at the beach often enough... This video is silly, but you get the idea http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7d_AB0ehqU

I will seriously suggest that you do as the Romans do (when in Rome...) and get dressed where everyone else does. It's a little shocking at first but trust me, everyone in there has seen plenty of nude/semi-nude ladies and no one is focusing on you. Focus on being comfortable in your own skin. Don't look crazy by going out of your way to change elsewhere.

    You'll adjust soon enough.

People are going to be far more weirded out by you being the one strange girl who goes to the bathroom to change than they would ever be weirded out by your body. They've seen plenty of naked girls - some probably even tan-less like you. Plus, nobody looks good in fluorescent lighting. They won't look any better than you.
Don't try to win over the haters. You are not the Jerk Whisperer.

Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.

Really most girls in the dressing room are gonna be more concrened with themselves and getting their bodies ready than staring at yours.

Thanks Britchick85. I don't think people will stare. It's a bit complicated to explain but after reading people's responses, I feel a lot better so thank-you again.

I don't even notice nudity in the dressing room. That's just what you do in there.

On other dressing room issues, please keep your items tidy. I hate it when people dump their stuff all over the counters, block up the outlets of styling tools, and when you are done getting ready, put your stuff in your locker. Oh, and if your club lets you eat in the dressing room, please put your dishes away when you are done. The cocktail waitresses are busy serving tipping customers and won't clean up after you.

definitely get dressed in there..there was one girl who refused to dress with us in the dressing room and it came off as very snobby..also bathroom stalls are not the most comfy or sanitary place to get ready. they will all be seeing you naked on stage anyways, and not caring. seriously, we are so immune to nudity we don't bat an eyelash. that being said, don't hang out in there or get into too much drama..it can seriously bring down your mood with all the negativity, so just get in, and get out as quickly as you can.
also, have you ever considered either loreal or sally hansen self tanners? i use both, and they are cheap as dirt and easy to apply yourself. are you talking about a professional spray tan?

I was thinking of using a tanning bed like I've done before.

Sophia beat me to the suggestion of going into work w/ your dance outfit on under your street clothes. I did this myself from wk 1. Do most of your hair & makeup at home, come into the DR, shuck your street clothes, fine tune your makeup & switch out your shoes.

No one looks good under fluorescent lights, & you should only be spending the minimum amt of time necessary in the DR anyway. It's all negativity & no $$.

I def agree that you'd probably look more weird going into a bathroom. Girls might think something is actually wrong with you if you did that. i haven't been dancing long but now that I have danced it's not a big deal at all for me to just get naked while changing. I remember the first night I did dance I walked into the dressing room and about 2 girls were butt naked talking about some cheap tipper and the other 2 girls were just in their bottoms showing each other pictures on their cell phones.
