    Default Customizing Shoes?

I have a bunch of solid colored dance heels that I've been thinking of toying with. I'm a crafty girl and a sucker for anything sparkly, so I want to glue rhinestone details on a pair. Or paint a delicate pattern on the side of the platform. So many ideas!

Has anyone done this? I spend a lot on my heels and would be bummed if I ruined a pair because of my creative ambitions. Good idea? Bad?

Try to revive an old pair first before tackling a new or favourite pair . I haven't done it personally, but a friend of mine did this to her's (be careful what kind of paint/glue you use because it will easily get scuffed etc).

Friend of mine makes her own glitter heels. Not sure what glue combo she uses but the glitter stays on really well. Through clacks and everything. Minus the usual wear and tear on the toes and any other high traffic areas.

If you're gonna glue on rhinestones pay attention to your dance style and where you get wear and tear on your heels. Underside of the heel is a good low contact spot, same with inside the platform if it has the cut out. If you use swarovski elements it ends up costing about the same the pre crystaled ones but you get more color options and placement choices.

Etsy.com is a good place to buy them, way cheaper than Michaels or other craft stores in my experience.
