I don't do pole tricks either. I'd say the top earners at my club - and most clubs I've worked at - haven't done any pole tricks at all. Unless you're in an urban or otherwise stage-centric club, they are truly not necessary to be successful or make money. In fact, I think they can even detract from your income because while you may get a few extra stage tips (and even that's debatable), you're not marketing yourself as well on stage as you could with eye contact and sensual moves. In clubs where the money comes from lap dances/VIPs/CRs, making that connection with the customer is what's going to make you money, not flipping upside down.

it totally depends on your audience. if you work a night with a bunch of couples, then yes its usually worth it..i notice a lot of female customers eat that shit up. some guys also love pole work but most of them like you closely interacting with them on stage better. i'd go ahead and learn some new moves though, it builds awesome muscle and keeps you in good shape and you'll be able to do a few cool tricks when the opportunity arises

I learned pole purely to give me "something to do" on stage other than roll around. I feel like my body does not look as good doing floorwork/polework compared to standing upright, so I don't do anything crazy, just a few spins/pirouettes, stuff you can learn off youtube. I did buy a pole for my apartment though and I LOVE it. I'm too scared to do tricks at work and potentially fall on my face/sweat off all my makeup/ruin my hair but I bust them out at parties and stuff occaisonally, plus, GREAT excersise prop, no excuse to not take a spin every day when it's sitting in your living room!

I have 2 very good reasons why I don't bother with pole work. I don't do pole tricks and I do just fine. If you do them because you want to, more power to ya. But they're not mandatory unless you're at a club where most of your income depends on your stage show.
IMO the time I spend exerting myself on the pole for some extra chump change could be better spent hustling the big $ from someone who actually has it.

Where I work there is no point in doing pole work because most of the girls don't do it. I actually left my last club because girls started doing that shit out of nowhere for like no extra money. I have several good reasons I won't do it. Like tempest said, my energy could be better spent hustling real money. Also, I don't plan on testing out my health insurance anytime soon. I've seen girls totally bite it. Enough said.

I would love to learn poll tricks, not really for work, but for the sexy six pack that comes along with knowing how to use one.

Nope I don't do them either and when a customer asks me do I do them I tell them I don't glue my wig down.

I love watching pole dancers. They are a great addition to the club, and really beautiful to watch.

I've noticed that most of top earners at my club don't do a lot of pole dancing. Neither do I, and I'm not able to try because of multiple shoulder injuries. If I'm able to do 30 lds in a night, that pretty much exhausts me anyway, so I couldn't imagine adding pole dancing to that as well!

Also I've noticed some non pole dancers get as many or even more tips on stage than the pole dancers.

I just tell them doing pole tricks when you have huge fake tits is like buying a hand gun when you already own a grenade launcher.

I've been dancing for like 3 years now and I've never been able to do anything on the pole. I even took classes and for some reason my body is not meant to be on that pole lol. But I've always gotten compliments on my dancing and have been told I look really sensual on stage and guys love it. I agree with the fact girls who do pole tricks are nice additions to the club especially on a weekend night when it's crowded, but I don't really think it affects my income. I've always made good money looking sexy on stage without doing anything on the pole.

Oh now don't get me wrong pole work is very beautiful when done fluently. When it's very slow, sensual and graceful I could watch it all day. If I am just sitting with a customer I will always compliment whoever she is. It is definitely an art. I had two girls at my last club that did all kinds of crazy things and they got tipped very well, one even works at KOD Miami now because of her talent. So yes learn, it perfect it and incorporate into your show if possible. I know two spins myself and that's all. I'm more of working the whole stage from every angle working this corner to that corner and some very sensual floorwork. Not all that down on all fours flapping around. I put in work! There are some really nice youtube videos of girls doing their routines on their personal poles at home. I know there are a few filmed in professional pole studios.

Depends on the pole you have avail as well and how well the stage is maintained. Some stages the poles are super slick and that makes wanting to do advanced tricks a gamble. Else you spend part of your set cleaning the pole if they let you and or gripping it up.

I've been poling for almost a year and a half and while it is a great conversation starter (I do a lot of pole and floor work heavy routines), it generally only makes me money with certain crowds (women, couples, older men, military). It has spread my name around the town I live in quite fast though and I do have customers who come to the club just to watch me perform. This comes in handy sometimes, considering the turnover for customers is very low at the moment.
I don't do it for anyone or anything else other than myself though, and it took a lot of perseverance and hard work. Although I was bruising the first six months and fell quite a bit at first, now I can safely say that I am quite adept at it. And I only have to clean the pole twice per set for it to be usable.
BUT this must also be noted: I am the ONLY girl in my club that does tricks and no, I am not a top earner for my club. I am known for my stage shows but they do not pay my bills by themselves. I still have to work just as hard (if not harder) to sell lapdances. Some men are even intimidated by women who do pole work.

It really depends where you work. I think pole tricks are a nice gimmick to know. I've worked in clubs where I didn't need to do them. I've also worked in clubs where if I were the only girl able to do some it was an attention getter with the guys, they would call me over after my set and tell me it's impressive, how did I learn etc, then after enough chit chat I close and make an easy sale. Also stage money (some clubs this is the norm there), my last work shift some guys threw $100 worth of singles at me on the stage. There was another club I worked in where a customer routinely threw money at me every time I got on stage and actually noticed when I learned new tricks. This is not the norm though.

I'd say for anyone who knows or are learning, benefiting from it depends what kind of moves you are doing. You MUST keep looking at the guy and try to gauge his interest. Try moving slowly and sensually at first and give him kissy eyes, then try a move or two and see if his expression changes. If not then just continue to move slowly. I did this with a guy the other night, he seemed more into it when I moved slow and sensually. He was older. The youngers guys seem crazy about any pole work that I do.

Also you have to be aware of what kind of moves you are doing and the faces you are making. Don't look bored or strain your face. When I do any pole work, unless the pole is spinning I try to move slow and try to transition slowly between moves, and I maintain eye contact, smile, and keep doing the kissy eyes at the guy while moving around. I also don't do pole work the entire time, my suggestion is to move slow and sensual, then supplement it by throwing in some pole work in between.

I have seen a lot of girls who are really good with the pole, but then guys don't pay as much attention to them either because the girls aren't looking at him, aren't smiling, and one time I saw a girl smacking gum on stage looking distracted. Try not to move too fast when doing pole work, this is something I have seen girls doing too and it looks better when they move a lot slower. I asked a guy once on his opinion. There was one girl who was better at the pole than I was, but he paid more attention to me because he said I paid attention to him (moving slow, smiling, etc).

When I see one or more guys looking at me from the stage, I always imagine that I am putting on a show just for them and this is what matters the most.

interesting post. I do both, floor work more so. the key is to feed off the energy of the crowd, in my opinion. slow sensual movements with some grinding and ass popping goes a long way when there are workers there, flashy sexy pole moves are better for women and teenage boys who have never seen a pole in their life. The stage is your store, you have to sale what you want to get out of their pockets and that my friend is flashy, sensual, sexy, money. lol basically a mix of great floor work and a novice fire man spin with a some hip grinding on the pole can go a long way for marketing yourself for lap dances and some drinks.
