i was wondering what you girls think about how much your looks plays into your success. it seems like the top girls on each site all kinda have the same sort of look.

I think looks can pull people in but your personality and what you have to offer is what is going to keep people coming back for more.
Obviously, looks matter a little. But in the way you'd think. If you keep yourself put together, do your makeup and hair, work out occasionally, dress nice, you'll do fine. But what really matters is confidence. If you act and and put out confidence, you will do amazing.
Even if you look like a top model, without confidence, it won't even matter. Confidence is key.

I am 100% convinced that your face matters a lot
I think there are always exceptions. And there is niche appeal. A guy looking for a BBW or a Milf doesn't want a girl that looks like a lingerie model. But I also think being conventionally "hot" helps hugely and people tend to gloss over how much that actually matters. Top girls are appealing to a big audience and for a mass appeal being conventionally attractive matters.
Saying everyone will have awesome earnings regardless of look/body if they are just interactive and have a great personality seems overly idealistic.
This!! "Saying everyone will have awesome earnings regardless of look/body if they are just interactive and have a great personality seems overly idealistic."
Looks matter a lot & is the 1st ingredient to success in my eyes, of course u need to add other ingredients as well like girls mentioned above.
Let's be realistic, u'll never see an ugly woman as a top model, right? They all beautiful and there are beauty standards accepted by society with the little differences depending on different cultures.
I am by no stretch of the imagination anywhere near being a top girl -- but I have spent the majority of my camming career on either the first or second page and I wouldn't be considered 'traditionally beautiful.' I don't have long blonde hair or long legs and I am not tanned.
But it could be that GlamourRouge is correct and it might be about how a girl's face looks. I've been told that I have a very Audrey Hepburn-ish face.

I also think you need a personality to keep guys coming back and become regulars. But just from browsing lots of different sites most girls have the same classic "hot" look. I do think that majority if majority of girls take care of themselves they can make okay money. But I'm talking about the top earning girls, they tend to have that "look".
^^^ Yes, is the looks u find in the glossy magazines.

I just want to make it clear I by no means created this thread to put down any girls or anything like that. I just wanted a realistic thread on what you other girls thought it took to be considered one of the top models. And from my short observation it seems the majority of the top girls have that "look"

Exactly. The top girls it seems on no matter the site have that look. Now I don't want to name names but there is a girl on SM that when she is on she always has over 150 people in her room and always hits her $200 goal. And she has the look of a famous glamour model. A lot of girls here I think no who I'm talking about. She is a huge inspiration for me.

I think looks definitely play into it but I don't think that's what make the top girls the top girls... of course, I'm definitely not one so I might not have room to talk haha. But I've never seen a site where the most popular girls were the most attractive... IMO most top girls look like they'd be solidly average if you saw them out and about (then again I've always lived in very image-conscious areas so I might be biased--average in California might not be average in Wisconsin, you know? No offense to any Wisconsinites as I'm sure we have the cream of the crop here on SW) The glamazon VS model types seem to mostly be EE/SA studio models, who with a few exceptions are usually not top girls. So I'd guess that it's a balance between being unobjectionable (not too fat, not too skinny, not too old, not too alt, not too unusual in the face) to appeal to the widest range of customers and your hustle/cam persona.
I am just curious what you mean by 'top girl'? I know of at least three 'top row' girls who are here on SW who wouldn't be considered traditionally beautiful in that magazine/model way.
I am not privy to those three camgirl's incomes but I assume that they are doing well for themselves.
Are we talking top earners? Top row girls or something else?

^ I'm talking more about earnings more than anything else. But this is exactly why I started this thread was to hear some other girls opinion on this. And it seems that a lot believe that of course looks has something to do with success but not as much as I thought.
That great looking studio girls are not in the top because their location, nationality and language, most sites are US based and most members are from western countries, they prefer to visit their national cam girls & sites mostly promote their nationals with a few exceptions.
This is totally normal from sites point of view if u think about it, better to promote a cam girl that can perform w.o any restrictions of language or so than to promote a great looking model type girl from outside western area that could have problems interacting with members and not able to perform at full capacity, right?
If it was about selling the image only like in magazines the looks is what sells, camming is not about the image only but about everything, from looks to interaction to language, skills, willingness and so on, that's why u see certain models as top models.

^ ya I agree its hard to know what they're bringing in. Again this is just from some observations I've made over the past few months. I'll hop into a few girls room to see if its a slow night or not.

I think looks do play a part of course, but I've seen "meh" and even "unattractive" women have a ton of people in their room begging for this and that. It really depends. There's a type of girl for everyone, really. One girl was called hairy angel or something and was, well, hairy and a ton of people were into it. You just never know!

Well ok here is my take on this. I am not good looking at all. But I can fool people into thinking I am with lots of makeup and lighting and keep my head at good angles. some days though i just look really ugly and some days smoking hot. on MFC i get the same amount of attention weather i look ugly or hot. on private based site (AdultWork) in which i have free chat turned off.. on ugly days people leave after a few seconds, on hot days they will stay and be like "WOW". So for me it's depends on the site. On tip based sites I think guys care more about personality (with a slight bit of looks thrown in). on pvt based sites i think they care more about looks.
I've also gone into girls rooms on MFC/CHaturbate who personally I found terribly unattractive and saw customers calling them beautiful and gorgeous and the most prettiest girl they ever saw. And ive often had to check i'm looking at the right girl. So in my opinion i'd say it really depends on the type of site.

For attracting 'new' customers, for both camgirls and dancers in large clubs, appearance plays a very important role ... because the girl's appearance is the first thing that the potential customer takes notice of. Thus the girl's appearance serves as the first 'filter' in connecting a 'new' customer's pocket with a camgirl or dancer.
For 'repeat' business, appearance is arguably far less important. 'Repeat' business is heavily influenced by the perceived 'quality' of the camgirl's or dancer's 'performance', by customer interaction with the camgirl or dancer, etc.
Yes an exception exists for particular customers who have, shall we say, 'unusual' preferences. In my own case, I am always able to attract and 'retain' big boob fetish customers, despite the fact that lots of other camgirls and dancers have a more attractive overall appearances. But customers with 'unusual' preferences make up a relatively small part of the overall customer pool ( although they arguably spend more on an individual customer basis ).
^^^ Very well said Melonie, it takes 2 seconds for a new guy to decide when he sees a model/ dancer: i like it/ i dont like it. To make that guy stay and talk 1st of all u need to appeal to him then comes the rest.

I believe it plays a very crucial part in my success and my beauty sets me apart from the clones. A lot of thin, Caucasian women bank and there's also more of them on at any given time. I have yet to see another black bbw with my same distinct features so I think that puts me in my own category. It's the reason I take the time to get ready before I go on. Most men like pretty things, they are visual. I do believe the more psychically attractive you look overall, the more money you will make. Pair that up with a hot body, and a great personality and you've got it made. Of course, there are models who aren't your typical beauty queens who bank as well, but again, my category of beauty isn't comparable to anyone but my own. I draw them in with my beauty and keep them around with my personality, tits, and ass.

Because beauty is thrown in people minds and faces, I'm going to have to disagree with this. Most guys are looking for a BBW or a Milf that looks like a lingerie model lol. They just happen to be bigger, or older. Qualifications and standards do not disappear just because a person is older or bigger. If anything, being a BBW has made me that much more aware of hustling because these guys hold us to a higher standard. They don't want no plain on stanky-dank BBW, they want the best BBW. I'll use Sam38g for example (hey, Sam!) she's a bbw, and she has the assets and a beautiful face. I've seen other BBW online with the same assets but they are all clones to me. Even if Sam wasn't a porn star, she'd still be set apart because she has a beautiful face.

I know of one "top model" who banks with her goldshows. I don't find her attractive at all in the face or body. However, she has a huge (pun intended) following for the foreign and large objects she inserts into various holes. So yes, you either bank with beauty, or bank with a niche.

^^Great point KK. Niche sells well.
