Is this a good time of year to look for a job? I'm going to apply to a bunch of places once I get my outfits together.

December is the one of the busiest months, so it's definitely a good time to start. Plus clubs over hire and over roster the girls during this time, so it's an easy time to get hired. Business usually drops off a bit over January, due to everyone having spent so much money over the holiday period and the fact that people are either still traveling/away on holiday or returning to work.

When does business start to pick up after January?

I work in Australia, but here, Jan and Feb are our quietest months. It doesn't mean you can't make money, it just means that it's slower than usual (especially on the week days). Weekends are always the safest nights to work, because at least there's a "grantee" that there will be people inside the club.

Yeah its the same thing in the states for retail. I was just wondering if it would be the same working in a club.
Depends where you are. Honestly, if you're ready to start dancing, just do it, regardless of what time of year it is.

I started my first club in the states when it was January was good!

historically speaking, with the clear exception of popular 'vacation' areas like Florida, clubs get slow in January and get very slow in February and March. IMHO this is caused by a number of seasonal economic factors for customers ... i.e. leftover Christmas shopping credit card bills, high heating bills, resumption of previously 'capped' Social Security taxes again hitting high earning club customer paychecks in the new year etc., on top of typically bad weather. Things tend to start improving again in April or May, thanks to tax refunds starting to arrive, heating bills dropping off, credit cards being paid down etc. in addition to the weather improving substantially !
