Default Feet, what the hell!!? ( Nonstop Pain in Pleasers )

I am not a heel girl at all, and have managed to avoid wearing a pair for about over a year now. That being said, I need to make some money in between semesters this winter, so I put on some new heels that are at a size I know have worked for me in the past and all I feel is pain! Im thinking "okay, I gotta break them in" but it just doesnt get better, the entire time feels awful. ....I know from wearing pumps in the past its normal for shit to get unbearable after a few hours, not minutes.

The shoes I ordered are also a very low, modest 5" heel with a strap
    http://www.amazon.com/Pleaser-Womens.../dp/B00775OIWW

I used to have a similar height and size from Pleaser ( in a different style though ) that I completely RAN into the ground when I used to work 5 shifts a week, so I believe this brand has been excellent at making a good working shoe...so I just dont understand why it feels like torture.

Please tell me I will get used to it, or if the shoe really does need to be "broken in" or whatever, because I am stumped at how short I am lasting in baby dancer shoes after a 3 year hiatus.

After a couple yrs of stumbling around in 6"+ stilettos, I dialled them back to 5" w/ a little chunkier heel. My joints just don't tolerate the taller heels anymore. Have you tried boot styles instead of strappy heels? I found those to work best for me. I found they give my joints much better support. For all of the four pairs I've danced in, all of them different brands & slightly different styles, there was virtually no breaking-in necessary. Many styles go up over the thigh so my knees in particular got sm extra cushioning, & you can wear a couple layers of cushy tall socks to pad your legs from the pole/floor & also hide a brace or ace bandage if your joints are being troublesome.

7" pleasers are the most comfy imo. Seems backwards but the arch on the platform is smaller than 5s or 6s so less pressure on the balls of your feet.

^Pleaser changed their sizing earlier on in the year apparently (found that out the hard way). Are you sure they aren't too tight or loose (I know that sounds like a stupid question)?

IME, the higher the platform, the less the shoe hurts your foot (the pressure is more evenly distributed). So, wearing a higher heel in that style might help.

Are you getting blisters? If so, put a band-aid over the inside of the bottom of the shoe (the part above your toes) and repeat on the upper part (I hope that makes sense) so that it lessens the friction on your skin. Wearing stockings can also ease the friction (you can easily wear band-aids underneath them with anyone noticing too).

Taking an Epsom salts bath after work will ease the muscle pain in your feet if that's what you are experiencing.

Apart from that, only time and breaking them in will help

Ive actually known about the less dramatic arches on the higher 7" platforms, but that kind of height is going to require some practice and coordination I just dont have right now. I would love to use them, but I have no clue how long getting used to a pair is going to take for me.

Aniela, Ive though about boots! Got any recommendations for a pair that would hold up out on the floor?

Ill try the band-aid trick, and I do wear stockings so that should add some level of relief. Does anybody know if the hair dryer trick works on the black patent leather?

I bought the shoes in fall of 2012 (Im just now starting to use them), so the sizing should still go by the old standard.

I've actually always hated Pleasers. I have several pairs and none are comfortable. But my first pair was by Ellie - and I love them! I can dance all night in those, and they are so damn old and never broke.

those were actually EXACTLY the style of my first pleasers. very uncomfortable i must say. not enough arch support, and the big builky strap in the front dug in and hurt. i notice anything under 6 or 7 inches hurts my feet. if you are afraid of tripping in tall skinny heels, maybe buy a bulkier heel til you get your bearings. easier to walk in then those tiny little high pin heels.
but when you are starting out, or starting again your body is going to be in pain and that includes your feet!

I got one pair at Dillards when I worked at a club in Daytona that didn't care abt the min legal heel hgt -- real leather, 3.5" heels & the single most expensive pair of shoes I have ever gotten. They held up & protected my skin but there was no platform, so they really hurt by the end of the nite, but I mention them b/c they were damn-near indestructible!

When I had to go stripper-shoe shopping again in TX I went to Electrique Boutique. Just looked at their site trying to find the two pairs I got there, but they don't seem to be carrying them atm

Smtg similar: My first pair of boots, I don't remember the brand, it wasn't Pleaser but looked a lot like this. The fake leather only lasted abt 6wks on the pole.

I found these in a nice comfy 5" heel. They were suede so gripping the pole was not reliable at all, I actually had to roll them & my socks down to my ankles b4 breaking out the serious pole tricks. I think these were my favourite b/c the material also helped keep me warm. I do sm serious pole work & the seam around the top of the platform is the weakest part; was able to glue them a couple times when they started to pull apart but had a complete blow-out right at the 6mo mark.

My final pair, again 5" heels, almost identical to these except w/o the bottom-most buckle. I still have them & have used them to get around in the snow when my steel-toe boots had holes that needed to be caulked.

I would also suggest sm of those gel inserts for your shoes if you don't have them already, they make a phenomenal difference!

If you can walk in 5" heels you can walk in 7". Every girl who was afraid to try out the taller heels realised it was easy as soon as they finally got their foot in them.

Only problem with wearing 7" heels is you feel absolutely frumpy in anything less. Makes me sad sometimes when i put on my regular heels that I used to feel sexy in and I'm like these are too short! Lol
