    Angry rant: not so good day in detroit

    I went to detroit today, to sit down with the manager of CLUB I WONT DISCLOSE(VEEEEERY nice upscale club, ETC. ETC.). the manager i wont disclose the name asked me a couple questions, gave the club background, gave me the rundown of the club, fees, caberet liscense info, info on my valet parking, etc. This was at 2pm during day shift. Day shift was PACKED. $$$$$ KACHIIING!!!
    So he put me on the schedule, blah blah blah, tour, rules, basically wholr nine.
    So i left, but my whole purpose of coming to detroit was to make some money that day. So i went to COBRAS downtown. It was a small brick building. I walked in side asked could i work for the night....they let me work for the night.
    The club was small, everything was in one spot...but i was on a money mission.
    Omg the hostility in the dressing room was CRAZY. ....lets fastforward. There were only about 3 people in the club but they werent trying to spend.
    I only made $14 dollars on stage and its $25 tip out. I wasnt gonna leave until i made the extra money, but if there is no one in the club WHO TF AM I GONNA HUSTLE?!
    So i was honest nd told thr house mom this, and she went to the dj (her husband) and told him i refused to pay her. So the dj came to me and demanded i pay him his money. First of all watch your mouth when your talking to me, its not what you say its really how u say it. So before i could reflex on him i went to the owner/manager and reminded him that he told me i could pay when i made it sincr it was my first day. The manager agreed with me while the dj was right there in front if us. So the dj proceeded to LIE and say i made more than what i said i made, and that he saw my money, and he also tiped me $10. So i calmy looked at him and asked him "since you were pocket watching exactly how much did i make since you know?" He couldnt answer me and i TOLD the manager that i will pay the rest of my tip out with my fee tomorrow.

    I said more things to the dj but i cant remember because i kinda blanked out. But the manager was ok with it.

    The house mom is a female dog to say the least. I could tell since i was the new girl ppls attitudes towards me were nasty. But that has nothing to do with my performance. Dancers also kept asking me if i was leaving before night shift. Uuuhm thats not your business, dont worry about my money or hustle.

    The house mom or dj couldnt even look into my eyes when they were talking sh#t. Little p#ssys. I hate liars.

    ^^^ for better or worse, this is arguably a very telling 'real world' example of the increasing division between top earning Americans and 'average' Americans. The customers at your very upscale club are probably 'celebrating' their Christmas bonuses and recent stock market capital gains, while the customers ( no longer ) at your other club were wondering how they are going to pay January's rent with Detroit city pension checks being drastically cut, with extended unemployment benefit checks not being continued past the end of this month, etc.

    As previously speculated on in other threads, it appears that the 'neighborhood strip club' business model is slowly dying. It also appears that dancers will have to increasingly look toward the two 'extremes' in order to earn decent money going forward. One 'extreme' is being able to access club customers who are top 10% American earners who now have more money coming in than ever ... i.e. your super upscale club. The other 'extreme' is being willing to offer 'extras' at 'dive' clubs, convincing cash strapped customers to spend their money on 'extras' today while worrying where their rent money will come from tomorrow.

    Admittedly, Detroit is farther down the economic 'road to ruin' than virtually every other American city. Unfortunately, lots of other American cities are playing 'catch-up'.

    I totally know what you're saying girl... Detroit was the MOST hostile enviroment I've ever experienced; The same thing happened to me, mean girls, mean staff and very very rude customers; Be careful, I'd recomend trying somewhere else;

    I wish I knew the name of this upscale club you went to. I know every upscale club in Detroit, I've worked at the majority of the "upscale" clubs, and have been for the last 2 and a half years. Unless you were at Hustler, the VEEEERY upscale club you were at is a flat-out brothel, as most Detroit clubs are at. If it was Coliseum, Flight Club, or Penthouse, those are all brothels basically. Don't let the upscale nature of it fool you. And the tipout at Penthouse is almost $200. You can only make money at those clubs if you do extras or are a major hustler. That's it.

    Ace of Spades is a good choice IF you're into urban clubs. Of all the urban clubs this is one of the nicest, but there's always hostility at urban clubs because so many of the girls are ghetto, born and raised in Detroit, and don't care if they come off as a major hater.

    Why did you choose Cobra? There are many better clubs that will let you work even without a dance card. And clubs outside of Detroit (besides Romulus) you don't need a dance card for. So for example you wouldn't need a dance card at Flight Club because it's in Inkster. A lot of Detroit clubs will let you work a couple weeks without your dance card.

    Oh ok lol. Good luck. There's definitely money potential there if you cater to the urban vibe.
