    Default Running Specials

    Hey ladies

    I'm considering running a brief holiday special. Though I don't really like the idea of discounting myself (and I really enjoy the clients I see at my usual rate, which is why I chose that rate in the first place), if I were to lower my hourly rate from 250 to 200 and saw an increase in business, it might be worth it. Does anyone have any thoughts, opinions, and/or experience with running specials?

    Try to hold out until the holidays are over if you can afford to. It's always dead during the holidays. Every time I've done a special, guys will send me emails for up to 4 months later trying to get the old special. It is so annoying sifting through request after request from guys trying to get you on the cheap.

    Honestly, I've lowered the fee at times. HOWEVER, I make it a point to stroke the ego-ask questions & followup later repeating verbatim what was said..men are intrigued when you actually listen. Anyway, in most cases I've received the my pre special amount and more..any man that calls you now is in an emotional place and requires petting/ego stroking whatever you want to call it.

    There maybe underlying factors influencing her decision.

    Are you touring right now?

    One instance caused me to decrease 600 rate while touring.

    Several girls from LV arrived & their fees were quite competitive.

    I'm not sure where you are or what variables require consideration.

    Thanks so much for all the input, and thank you Sasonnet for that article!!! I LOVED reading more about the Veblen good. I would put it into practice, but I really don't think it would work in the boonies where I am. That's a better idea for big cities. Still a fascinating read though.

    I decided not to run any specials yet. There aren't any serious underlying factors as of right now; I've only been doing this since August so I guess I was sorting of feeling out the territory. I would hate to sift through emails asking about an old special, so thank you indiegirl for mentioning that. I'm not hurting for money or anything, I just thought it might be worth it to lower the price a smidge so that I end up with more cash in the end, because business hasn't been booming. I'll attempt to be patient for now!

    This is precisely why I avoid doing specials. The only "special" I have is when I do a duo with another girl, my rate is pretty significantly reduced, only because her multi-hour rates are lower than mine. And I make sure to specify to people who ask that it's lower just because I know it can difficult to pay for 2 girls at once, so we try to make it easier on them if they go for the double. Even then, I had trouble with one client who saw me first off during a duo, and then thought that my rate for that extended time was that low even if he was just seeing me. So even that is a hassle, but the benefit of offering a threesome has brought enough business that I'm willing to do that "special."

    I decided that if I ever did choose to run a "holiday" special, it would only be for pre-existing regulars I've seen often, just to maybe entice them to see me during a month that they might otherwise not want to spend that sort of money. But even some of them have broached the subject of a "frequent visitor discount" before already, and I just get offended when they're the ones to bring it up. It made me not want to do it. So I haven't tried yet. But I was lucky, I guess. Not entirely sure why, but November and December were actually pretty good to me even though I budgeted for it to be bad. Pleasant surprise.
