Default Question for those who started working in clubs more than ten years ago

I hope this hasn't been posted too many times, but I have a few questions about pricing structures 10+ years ago.

How long has $20 been the standard price of a dance? What were VIP prices like (both club and dancer cuts)? I know that the price of a dance hasn't risen for inflation in a long time in most areas but nothing about VIP. It would surprise me if the average club cut hasn't increased the to account for inflation, but I wouldn't be surprised if most clubs failed to adjust dancer cuts given some of the other changes in treatment over the years.

Been 20$ a dance since I started 14 years ago. But recently a lot of clubs have instituted the '3 for 100$' VIP session. Kind of a half assed Champagne Room session, and often done IN the CR. Typically the club gets a cut of that 100$--in my last club 25$, in my present club 10$.

I know clubs like Deja Vu have been gouging the dancers for a big cut (1/3 to 1/2) of every single lapdance for at least ten years now, on top of house fees. This trend towards making clubs corporate entities seems to be increasing, and I do not like it.

It sure doesn't help when these dumb bitches sue the clubs for 'lost employee wages'. This will kill the industry as we know it, if it continues. And only the fucking lawyers will benefit. Though possibly the big corporate chains will find a way to continue making a profit.

When I started it was 5 at a bikini bar. No vip and we made the same money, just worked harder. I remember them bitching they didn't want to raise it to 10 but they did a year later. It didn't affect business. They've been 20 most clubs for around 17 years. They should raise it but the clubs were you dance at the tables like clubs in Ny and Chicago they won't because it's not contact and more incentive to go to vip. I mostly work at clubs with 40 dances now a days so when I go to a club were there 20 it kills me. Especially when the songs are 4-6 min! I think Nola has the right idea. All the vue owned clubs charge by the minute. The least the guy can put in the machine is 30 and that's 3 min. So you never have to worry about a song being to long. The only crappy thing is when 3 min is up and the guy wants to keep going you have to put more money like a vendiung machine and sometimes the money comes back out, like a vending machine. At ricks there 60. I think that's pretty high but guys pay it. I think clubs should raise them to 30-40 in contact clubs. Ugh , this is why I just focus on vip all night!

First time I went to an SC was early 1990s, and it was $5/lapdance. Within 6 months everyone raised to $10, so I caught just the tail end of the $5 days. It went to $20 pretty damn fast, too, I'd guess by 1993 or even earlier. But 1992 is when Netscape hit it big on the stock market, so I imagine SF was a pioneer in price rises.

Around here, within the last 5 years or so, some of the Deja Vu clubs have effectively raised prices by making the $20 dance an air dance, and changing contact lap dance to 2 for $60. VIP dances have stayed steady at $100 though, the business strategy has been to move the guys from lappers to VIPs. The two non-Deja Vu strip clubs left in the city still have $20 contact lap dances.

It has been $20 in many clubs for as long as I can remember, 15 years or so, but I have also been to places where it is $25, 30 or even 40.

Idk, but I think that many clubs are hesitant to raise them above $20 for fear of losing too many LD sales. The last 6 years have been pretty rough and LDs are harder to sell now than they used to be even at $20. Also, in places where LDs are higher, IME they are hard to sell and a number of these clubs have been forced to run 2 for 1s and other promotions to get guys into LD areas - even on busy nights. I've also been hearing and seeing that many of the guys who do pony up $30+ for a 3-minute dance go back with pretty high expectations in terms of contact.

Now I do not doubt that the best saleswomen are generally going to thrive whether LDs are $20 or $40, so I could see how those of you with potent sales skills might prefer higher LD prices. But a club needs to earn off of its whole roster and not every club is packed full of strong sales women and located in a high traffic, high money tourist area like NOLA and parts of CA.

Anyway, just my for whatever it is actually worth.

Same experience here. The $20 price for dances in 'average' clubs has been the same since the 90's. However, what may NOT be the same is the club's cut of the customer's $20, versus the amount the dancer is allowed to keep for herself.

Over the years any time I have seen individual dance prices go up it has always been in the form of an increase in the club's cut. Also, many clubs that didn't used to take a cut at all now do. The point of a $20 dance has always been the fact that it's a $20 bill. Easy math. Those days are gone in a lot of clubs. $25 is a much more common number nowadays and even $30 in some clubs. The $30 clubs are getting $10 per dance-the dancer still only gets $20.

CR's have also crept up in price but the dancers cut has gone up along with the clubs in many cases. In my area the standard about ten years ago seemed to be $300 for an hour to the dancer and around $120 to the club. Most clubs in my neck of the woods now sell VIP in 15 minute blocks at $100 for the lady and anywhere from $30 to $80 for the club. That adds up to $400 an hour for the lady and anywhere from $120 to $240 for the club...and a lot of clubs don't even include a bottle or a drink at that price. On top of that the waitresses or hostesses have their hand out for a sizable tip and, if it's not forthcoming, they will do anything they can think of to ruin your CR experience from shorting you on time to poking their nose into the room every 15 minutes to annoy you.

Dances aren't just high priced in Nola and cali. All the VCG clubs dancers can charge what they want. Minimum 40 topless and 50 nude. I've worked at their clubs in Denver and st. Louis and customers have no problem shelling out 40-50, especially when you tell them their only other option is 300 half hour.

When I started in 1998, most of the strip clubs in my area didn't even offer lap dances. Table dances were $10 topless or $20 full nude. One of the clubs I worked at had a little peep-show style booth where the customer sat behind a 3' tall railing and the dancer entered the booth from the dressing room. This place was serious about no contact with the dancers.

My current club still offers the air dances for $20. The dancers keep 100% of the air dance money. Lap dances start at $40, dancer keeps $35, 3-4-$100, dancer keeps $85 or 30 minutes ($250, dancer keeps $200) and 60 minutes ($450, dancer keeps $350) VIP shows. The customers are aware of the fees we pay to the house for our dances and most of them cover the fees for the ladies, too.

The air dances aren't very popular. I only sell 2-3 every week.
