Default what are your thoughts on glitter?

I love to do lots of fun eye make up when I work. I put glitter on my eyes, not my body-- I just like the way it looks and where else am I going to be able to put glittery shit on my eyes and get away with it?

But the girls I work with are always giving me shit for it and telling me not to do it because it will repel customers. They'll think I'm new and it will annoy them because it might get on them (IMHO it would have to be one weird dance for something on my eye to get on them but whatever) and they'll be worried their wives/girlfriends would see it.

Does it annoy you if a dancer has glitter on?

I think glitter in general is a no-no. It will repel a lot of guys. Some have wives or girlfriends and want to be discreet for that sake. That's why wearing heavy perfume can also be a bad idea. Glitter can also be a turn-off for guys with corporate jobs. Sometimes glitter can linger, and I imagine a man wouldn't want to go into a business meeting and have someone realize he's glittering. I guess the question is whether or not the glitter actually stays on your eyes. Even if only a little falls off, that could be problematic.

Well it's glued to my eyes with fake eyelash adhesive, that's how I get it to stick for 8 hours ( it doesn't come off). It's a bitch to get off every night.

I'm just curious, cause I've never had a customer make any kind of comment about it, just other strippers.

The problem is that there is a stigma attached to dancers and glitter no matter how well it is attached. If a guy is married he's going to worry about it. When I was married I worried about it! The other girls are trying to help you out but it's your decision. At this point a little glittery eye makeup would not scare me away since I'm single now but, honestly, I'm not really into a girl who wears a lot of makeup but that's just one man's opinion. Ultimately you have to do what makes you feel comfortable and confident.

I'm hesitant to listen to other girls at my club, just because I think I could have toilet paper sticking out of my butt and they would be like "you look great!" just cause they wouldn't have to worry about me dancing with their customers.

I have to admit, I rarely dance with married customers... most of my customers are single are divorced. Maybe it's the glitter or that I always ask "does your wife/girlfriend know you're here?" I always tell myself NOT to ask that but inevitably do and it sort of ruins the mood. Foot in mouth syndrome.

But thanks for the advice! I just... love the glitter. I really do.

Maybe find a shimmery eyeshadow in the colors you like to wear so your eyes still pop but the glitter isn't an issue and see how it effects your hustle.

Ultimately your confidence is what's important, rock what makes you feel hot.

I think I'm gonna do an experiment when I get back from my trip later this week and see if there's any difference between my income w/o glitter. We'll see! Thanks guys.

If you don't wear body glitter, it shouldn't matter (the glitter eye liner etc stays put). Wearing body glitter is a bad idea and some customers DO avoid girls wearing it, just like some avoid girls with strong perfume or tan (they don't want to go home with the tell tale SC signs). I've danced at clubs that have actually banned it. If I'm dancing for a guy who's face is full of glitter (some girls wear it on their chests at my club ) I politely and playfully let them know.

Olive beat me to suggesting it, so I will second it -- glitter eyeliner is the cat's ass, b/c it stays put. I have found glitter eyeshadows (powders & cremes both) to be hit or miss, but as long as the stuff dries in place it should be ok. Body glitter/fabric glitter, tho -- now that is a big no-no.

I want to thank this post 100 times.

The second I see a hint of glitter I send her away pronto. IME only new girls who don't get it yet wear glitter. That stuff is miserably difficult to get rid of and impossible to explain away.

Unfortunately, just a few months ago I dealt with a newbie dancer who got it all over me. It was dark in the part of the club that I was sitting in, so she was not glittering when I interacted with her and I just didn't see it. It was only after I overheard another dancer take her aside and give her some advice about not wearing glitter that I knew that I had a problem. I don't know how many baby wipes I used trying to get that shit off, but in the end I still ended up tossing the shirt on the way home.

My views are largely the same regarding heavy perfume. There is one scent in particular that I seem to smell a lot. It is strong, cloying and sticks to your clothes forever unless a good washing is applied. Get this scent on a single jacket or shirt and it is guaranteed to make your whole suitcase stink. I normally avoid doing anything with a girl covered in this type of perfume, but every once in a while a girl gets me before I can back her off. I can only wonder if the girls that douse themselves like this realize that they are automatically disqualifying themselves from a dance with anyone who doesn't want this stink on them. C'est la vie I suppose.

    Anyway, /end rant.

^I really want to know which perfume you are talking about now ! But I agree, too much perfume will stick to you like glitter also. Perfume is better in moderation (regardless of how strong it is) and body glitter is just plain bad for you lol.

^They might be "single" like we are always "single" . It's good that you have pulled yourself up saying this too .

I second trying a really shimmery cream eye shadow in a fun, shiny shade instead and see how it effects your night (you can always duck back into the change room and re do your make up if it's not working for you) .

Good discussion. The problem with "moderation" is that smell, like taste, is relative to what someone is used to. Consequently, we are not usually a very good judge of what constitutes "moderation" for either. Bad breath is a good example - it is very difficult to determine that your own breath stinks! With perfume, if you can smell it at all, it probably reduces your income.

Even though you may not notice it, the glitter from your eyebrows leaves a definite glitter trail (speaking from personal experience). Much like smell and taste, if you use it a lot, you probably don't notice because scattered flakes are everywhere including your clothes, hands, and skin. But, just a few flakes are too many for those of us that are never around it.

Either of these are absolute show stoppers for me. I will not even let you sit with me if I notice them. If you sit down before I realize it, I will begin immediately trying to discourage you and get you to move on. I refuse patronage from multiple dancers on almost every SC visit over either perfume or glitter. Perfume is the most common problem. Fortunately, the glitter craze of some years back has gone away and I seldom see dancers use it any more.

Well, I'm certainly not new. I've been dancing since I was 19 and I'm now 24.

I have a hard time imagining that I leave a glitter trail-- I basically just glue it like eyeliner on the edges of my fake eyelashes, and I wipe any excess off (basically what isn't glued). Not talking about body glitter. I'm wondering if MAC has something that's more of a past though.

I don't use perfume tho. Besides the fact that once that gets into fabric it never comes out perfume is expensive! Body spray is much cheaper and doesn't stick to fabric.

Audrey, not shot at you was intended and I have no doubt that you use good judgment in what you do. The strength of my reaction stems solely from encounters with girls over the years who have been more indiscriminate in its use. IMHO and IME, Yoda's stigma comments relating to glitter and married men are exactly on point and I think that this is a result of a period of time in which glitter was more popular and caused a lot problems for guys who were hit with it. I am simply sharing one married guy's unadulterated opinion, since you asked.

But whatever you decide to do, good luck!

I think it is one of the Victoria Secrets scents, but I am not positive to be honest. It has been around for a long time and seems to be a dancer favorite, probably for the very reasons that I dislike it - lol. I had to detox a whole SUV about 6 months ago just because a girl left a bag that stank of it sitting in my car overnight (long story there). The smell actually transferred to the carpet on the front of the seat that the bag rested on and the whole interior of the car reeked of it. I have had to throw several shirts away over the years for the same reason.

I have not had a chance to try my experiment yet-- I had a bad skiing accident, someone flew into me while I was going VERY fast and I have a giant gash on my nose and a huge black bruise on one of my eyes so I've been wearing very very heavy make up because if I don't it looks like I have some abusive boyfriend beating me up, and of course no one believes me when I tell them it was a skiing accident. Hopefully the bruise is gone by Friday so I can see if there's a difference in earnings! I have been doing quite well even with the the bruise, gash and glitter tho!

Have you tried arnica gel on that?
Also, I never understood why there's such a strong correlation between strippers and glitter in so many stripper references. All the dancers I know abhor the stuff. Hmm...
Anyways, if it's just on your eyeballs and it doesn't look silly, run with it. With the exception of ridiculous, overdone clown makeup types, I don't think customers pay that much attention to our makeup, if they can even tell in the club lighting! lol
There is no reason to take it up the ass and then act all butthurt.

^yeah I have... it's really bad! I basically have to have on super full stripper make up to make it not noticeable. The cut on my nose isn't super noticeable but my eye is, it's not going to be healed for the weekend boo.

I been wearing bath and body works shimmer and glitter sprays and lotions for years. Never once has a man or another dancer complained to me about it. I am tan and looks hot. And If they were to say anything Id tell them to fuck off
