I just looked at the ingredients of what I thought was my healthy turkey sausage and discovered sugar in the ingredients!!! Are there any sausage brands that DON'T have sugar?

Sugar seems to be in everything these days. Hm, the brands in the US would be different to here
. A paleo or whole30 forum would probably turn up some results
. Sausages from a butchery, where they make and sell their own, shouldn't have any or as much as the pre-packaged supermarket ones. If there's a butchery near you, I would ask them (they usually add more ingredients, herbs, spices etc for flavour unlike some of the commercial brands). I know a lot of veggie one's say "no sugar etc" here. But, be careful with veggie sausages too as a lot of pre packaged vegetarian products have a high salt content.
If you are looking for a quick, protein rich meal it's great to make up a batch of homemade burger patties (i.e. lentil, beef, thai chicken, salmon etc), freeze them and then grab one out whenever you need (they are great to dry cook in the oven or pan cook with coconut oil etc). That way you know exactly what is in the food you are eating.

Yes there are.
Well in UK anyway. There is a special Polish Sausage called 'Krakow' in Morrisons. It contains no sugar or carbs. It has pork, spices, salt and preservative.
It contains 10% fat, which is not as low as turkey sausage, but it is the same as lean steak.
Try finding some Polish shops in US.
Applegate Farms Chicken & Maple sausages have only 1g of sugar per serving & taste pretty good. The Chicken & Apple sausages by the same brand have no sugar whatsoever but I haven't tried those yet.

I love the chicken and apple ones by that brand. Always have them in the fridge!

You could always make your own. The problem usually is too much salt.

I'd take too much salt over any amount of sugar any day!

Well, salt's bad for your heart, especially if you tend toward high blood pressure, which I do.

Sugar free sausage.

Does it have to be prepackaged or are you willing to go to go to a butcher? You could ask a butcher shop what ingredients they use for each sausage type, and if they would be willing to omit certain ones. My ex used to apprentice for a butcher and told me they got special requests all the time for dietary needs; you usually just need to make a request 24 hours in advance for pick up (sometimes less).
Wow great to know, thanks.
