I tend to do both, for months at a time I will tan and then for a few go all natural. What do you ladies tend to do?

i either go natural or use self tanner. im extremely against tanning though, i don't want to look 20 years older with skin cancer when i can get a natural looking tan for 20 bucks without the atrocious skin damage
Im typical pale northerner ( gael/norse) etc and I just look odd with a tan of any kind really so I just go with what I have, it works with the red hair and blue to sometimes emerald eyes depending on my mood. even when I have a real, fed by the sun - tan, it seems off or fake or its just a burn XD

i use loreal sublime bronze in medium tan..comes in a yellow bottle and its a white cream ( i also like the spray). they are a light tan that you want to build up over two days but its the cheapest natural looking self tanner that i've found. at work i layer sally hansen self tanner cream over the top to give me a deep tan ( it washes off in the shower) but i would never use the dark sally hansen stuff with my natural skin because it can make a pale girl look literally "dirty". i always use the semi-permanent self tanner before hand.
there's a big thread on what your favorite self tanner is in body business! yeah definitely do those instead of real tanning because i work with die-hard tanorexics and they are young girls who have black moles all over their bodies and deep wrinkles on their faces! and its doubles your risk of cancer

I only tan for auditions. I've never noticed a difference in my income either way, but I think it helps you look thinner.
Like Morrigon, I have the red hair and blue eyes going for me, so I rock my pale skin. Lots of customers dig it!

I have dyed red hair (natural blonde) and bluish green eyes with pale, warm-toned skin, and I prefer the way I look at work tan. I don't go super dark, but just enough to make a difference. Been using Sun Labs for years thanks to this site!

I will not go on the floor or stage without fake tan onlol (I feel like it's part of my "outfit" or "transformation"...a long with make up, nails, hair extensions etc. I feel too exposed without it, if that makes any sense). Having said that, some girls look gorgeous without tan and have beautiful skin. I think it doesn't necessarily make a difference to your money either way, it's just best to do what makes you feel most comfortable, confident and sexy.

im the same way! when the manager is feeling nasty to me he puts me on stage first and when i don't have my self tanner on i feel awful. its part of my routine just as much a hair, nails, and makeup. plus for some reason my body looks 100x better with a tan even though im skinny, idk why..just covers up any kind of skin imperfection and makes my skin more uniform and my body look tighter

Altho I have dark eyes & darkish hair I favour my Slavic side w/ my features, so a deep tan looks a little funny on me, I think. I have a very hard time tanning naturally, & get scorched in the tanning bed even if it is just for a few min. I find the whole self-tanning bit to be a bit hi-mx (read: I am lazy as fk) but the one I liked was Jergens Natural Glow. You can get it in two or three different darknesses(?) for different skin tones, I'm normally so white I glow in the dark but I liked the one for medium skin tones. It builds up over abt five days to reach maximum colour & goes on pretty evenly, w/o rubbing off on things as long as you let it dry completely b4 dressing.

I tan, but I use the bedsnaughty me. I had psoriasis in High School and started tanning for that (the dermatologist said it was fine). I am on Humira now, but I became addicted to tanning like within year one. Now I have been tanning for 11 years. I know horrible right. I used to go 5x - 4x a week, now I try to cut down to 2x, okay maybe 3x if I feel I need the boost.
Tanning is euphoric, a lot of North-westerners have sunlamps for the rainy season. However.....it is horrible for your skin.
I don't have wrinkles on my face yet (but in certain lighting, like bright sunlight, if I press my chest together I can see little lines on the skin covering my sternum - I am 27, so that's a bit uncalled for (BTW that is some of the thinnest skin on your body), hence the elderly sun-worshipers with chest wrinkles, LOL. Fortunately no moles or sun spots either and luckily no skin cancer. This may be a wives tale, but it was in a medical book, albeit a very old one, it said that people with psoriasis have an almost 0% chance of skin cancer. I can only assume this is because your cells shed rapidly, so they don't have the time to build up and mutate. Anyway, still don't get into the habit, it is addictive.
You should try a CUSTOM spray tan. Also make sure it is organic-based. My Dad did a synthetic tanning accelerator/bronzer once (this is horrible, but he is Italian, I'm only half, but I tan well and we would have competitions when we went to Mexico as to who could get tanner, LOL, great example to set) anyway,he was allergic to one of the ingredients, he had to go to a hospital in Mexico due to the fact that his pores closed up, so he couldn't sweat and subsequently he wasn't allowed in the sun for a week. Most high-end salons will used a natural-based spray tan solution though.

honestly- I mentioned it in chat once too, but I really really would love to ( and see others) actually go for a skin dye that would last months- but in unnatural hues, like magenta kin with violet hair, or a rich coffee and white hair, or a cerulean or cyan with black hair etc- I think some people could really really rock the " xeno" look - even more so without anything that will rub off.

I always have a good tan, some outdoor tanning (seasonal) as well as tanning bed. However, I do find the tanning bed more practical.
Spray tan can be an alternative, but I see it more like an "add on" rather than an alternative to tanning. When you get sprayed and you're pale to start with, I don't think I've ever seen anyone without really bad transitions from arms to hands and legs to feet.

PALE FOR LIFE. It's kinda my thing. (Skin cancer in the family....melanoma.....definitely affected this decision years ago, but the real determinant is my hair color)
DO NOT EVER USE TANNING BEDS, ladies. plz. Self tanner can sometimes be slightly orangey, but.....not gonna give you leathery ass digusting skin with high risks for cancer.

I do both, but prefer using the Jergen's gradual lotion. I have it in both light, & medium shades. I'm also gonna try the L'oreal one Simone mentioned.
Also, http://southseasskincare.com/ they have the spray cans, & the stuff for the equipment, which they also sell.
Supposed to be really great!

I like my fair skinI have very dark brown hair and big turquoise eyes, so the fairness provides an awesome contrast.
Can't say I really buy into the "tans are slimming" business...it's not gonna make that much of a difference. If you're toned, you're toned. Sure, I can see the logic behind the claim, but I think the strength of the actual illusion is way overrated.
If anything, I actually avoid sun exposure (within reason). Sun causes aging faster than anything. Sun is what turns plump juicy GRAPES into RAISINS...

Pale, but high end strip clubs will almost certainly require everyone to use a self-tanner because they are stuck in the 90s.

They now have body "CC" cream..also, I like those highlighting ones they have for the body.

I was advised by a lot of girls to tan before I started dancing, but I couldn't afford a tanning salon and it was winter. And self tanner just looked disgusting and weird on me. So my only option was to go into the club looking like a sheet of typing paper, and I'm really glad I did. I get compliments every single night on my "ivory" skin. There's no one else at my club who looks anything like me and the customers notice it.
