    Default Dancers have long memories

It happens quite a bit. I will visit a club for the first time in a while (a few months or even more) and a dancer will walk up to me and act like she knows me, but I don't know her. She then asks "remember me?" But I don't. How do dancers remember a guy like me when they deal with so many customers? I don't really look unusual or have any major distinguishing characteristics. Is it because I, unlike so many guys, are actually nice to them and treat them good and the remember it? Are they perhaps just "running game", thinking that acting like they know me will be more likely to get them a dance? Or do they just have amazing memories?

Unlike other sales jobs, we don't have a set customer list or sales records. We tend to remember those who spend. It's professional, it helps to build rapport and can lead to return business. You would be surprised what we see, hear and remember-so I doubt that the girl's you have encountered are "running game". After all, lying about knowing someone is a lie you could easily catch someone out on-why would we risk loosing a new customer from something so unnecessary? On the other hand, maybe the girls you have met are just exceptionally friendly and treat all of their customers that way.

Like most salespeople, dancers try to remember those who have been good to them in the past. I'm pretty good at remembering faces of customers who spent a decent amount on me, so I always approach them like an old friend if I see them again. I also know some girls who will go up to random customers and say that in hopes of getting them to spend money though, so it's a toss up whether it was genuine or not.

This has amazed me too considering how many men they see between my visits. But right down to the details of our private session, she remembers re.

its possible she doing this for a couple of reasons other than actually remembering you. First, she might just be wondering if you are someone she might be expected to remember. Secondly, she might want to make you some how or other feel obligated to spend on her. Thirdlt, it might juat be her sales pitch. Then again, maybe she actually does remember you. Did she remember your name?

Honestly I tend to remember people I really like or people I really dislike (or people who spend). Unfortunately I tend to remember the people I dislike the most so me remembering you is not always a compliment...

I have never mistreated a dancer in any way or deliberately done anything to make them think bad of me. Honestly, I can't think of any reason why any dancer would remember me in a negative light.

Women just remember this stuff. My lady can quote stuff I said to her the first day we met and pretty much every day in between. No surprise here. She probably remembered something specific about you which triggers the rest of her memories. Pretty much all women I know are like this. It is both flattering that we have made an impression on them and maddening at the same time

I had something similar like this happen about 5 years ago, but with a twist. We sat down at a table close to the stage and were having our opening round of drinks and looking around a bit as we had never been to this place before. One of the dancers got of stage trotted over to us, plopped right down on my lap and said "Hi Erik! It's so good to see you again, its been years!" and I had no clue who she was. Then she told me her real name and it seemed to click, but I could not be sure. She said we went to High School together and she knew me my senior year when she was an underclassman.

I had to take her word for it, nice gal, good dancer. Bought her a few drinks and she did do a dance for one of the guys we were with, but had a creepy vibe about her. I did tip her a bit as we left.

I don't know how some girls do this! I can't keep track of names... and I am convinced that I have a mild form of face-blindness. This is true in the club and in the real world.

I feel so bad when customers come up to me and greet me by name... I may have seen them the night before, or a week before, or a month ago, whatever. I just don't remember them. I try to remember distinctive features like bushy eyebrows or birthmarks, facial hair, uncommon heights, nose shape, clothing styles that are unusual, accessories, etc. But connecting those things to a name is still tough. I've jotted down names at the end of the night (along with notable features and my opinion of the time I spent with that person) in the vain attempt of actually remembering them should I ever see them again. I still can't recognize these guys 4-out-of-5 times.

Beyond that, I mix strippers up. So many of my coworkers look similar... if it wasn't for the DJ announcing their names 2-3 times before a stage set I would be completely lost. If I start out a new club, it usually takes me a good two months before I can associate the majority of faces with names. Anyone I'm close to is obviously more memorable... so that might only be a day... but I still wouldn't recognize them on the street.

I don't recognize people I know on the street or in the subway/stores/restaurants/parks/whatever... when they are out of context... like, when they are my classmate but they're not on the campus... I am oblivious.

Do you know how many times people have come up to me and told me that they saw me someplace earlier in the week? How the Hell? I was not the least bit aware of their presence and I could have been two feet away from them. It's nuts.

In NYC, my friends (and even my near-sighted family members!) spot celebrities and notable figures all the time. I have recognized someone famous maybe 2-3 times in, oh I dunno, 20 years. How is this possible???

Omg Sophia.. I've been known to re-introduce myself to customers if they change seats during the night unless they have distinctive features. And if I haven't slept, sometimes they don't even have to move seats. So embarrassing. And I've not known my regulars' names months after meeting them because I forget the first time and it's just to awkward to ask after a certain point. The only times I remember someone is if they treated me really well or really badly. I wonder how I still do well in this business sometimes!

The memory of strippers has a few different aspects to it aside from just being good at retaining memories.

A successful dancer is likely to have a higher than average social intelligence. This is a trait that is also found in Politicians and Clergy members. Successful dancers may not be able to do even simple algebra, but she can certainly figure out how to make you feel good about parting with your money. You'll notice that this is also the goal of politicians and clergy. Part of having a high social intelligence is being able to remember faces and names.

On top of social intelligence, there is brain training involved in stripping. Just like a radiologist can tell the difference between cancer cells and benign cells on an MRI, a dancer has learned how to pick out those in the club who have been kind to her before. For me, the environment has to be correct for me to recognize a customer who has been away for a while. I won't recognize him on the street, but if he is in the club my memory is excellent.

Lastly, there is a protection element to this kind of facial recognition. If a stripper felt threatened or harassed by a customer, her memory is going to be even better than if she had a good experience. That is just basic brain chemistry and how we learn to avoid potential danger. Just like the child who learns to fear a hot stove after touching it only once.

So, in a sense, yes dancers have long memories.

Yep! I've been there... Oh goodness... I've introduced myself again to guys that switched seats, guys that took off their tie, guys that took off their jacket, etc. Aaaaaaaah! It's so embarrassing.

I've taken to switching my outfit in the middle of the night, hoping that customers won't recognize me if I accidentally double-dip. Maybe short memories are a two way street. LOL.

Sometimes, I have to sneak a peek at the ID if the customer buys a VIP room. I sneak peeks at credit card receipts to see what a person's name is. Thankfully, some of the better VIP hosts say "Okay, XYZ, you're all set... have a good time..." before starting our room. Bless those wonderful, beautiful hosts. They are the best.

If you spent a shitload of money on them, they will remember you.

Don't even worry about it man, just ride it for all it's worth. Just consider it part of the purchase price and get yourself another good deal. If what you have said before is true, that you are gentleman who pays well for the stripclub experience, then you deserve to have some fun.

I cannot count the times women have run up to me in clubs all happy to see me and I don't have a clue who the hell they are. Good looking ones too--and before I was in this business I would never forget a good looking woman that I'd spent any time really getting to know or working with.

It also says that the problem can be congenital and not caused by any sort of trauma at all. Are you in the habit of reading a line or two of an entire Wiki entry and then using it to stir shit up or is this just a one time thing?

I just call all my clients 'baby' or 'sweety' It works cuz they like terms of endearment and I get away with not knowing their names. I remember faces pretty well but names, forget about it.

That would be a reasonable take, and certainly with some girls is is just part of patter (which is fine). In this case, (and to some extent in a couple of other women over the years) conversations we had before the hiatus (she had gone home to Brazil for a while) continued. In fact she recognized me before I recognized her.

That always cracks me up! There was a stripper at one club who often introduced herself to me at least 3 times per night, and sometimes more (really!) -- from what I can tell, triggered by me changing seats (it was theater seating, so unlike most clubs, guys changed seats fairly often). This lasted at least 6 or 7 trips, until she mercifully started to remember my face.

I, too, am amazed by the memory of some strippers I've met, sometimes including amazing recall of details.
