    Dizzy Spazzy stripper - help!

Hi so I'm totally new to stripping - and to this website. In order to see how I was on stage, I recorded myself doing some floorwork only to be horrified. My movements are way too jerky and uncoordinated. How do I slow down and look more sexy and sensual? I apologize if this has been asked before. I've watched a lot of videos but it's not really helping.

Proprioception is your sense of your own body, your perception of where all its parts are at all times. You could also call it coordination. Not everyone has a very strong sense of this. It can be a talent like singing or throwing a football. Someone who has better proprioception (coordination) may be able to watch a body motion and then perfectly emulate it in one or two tries. It's okay if you aren't naturally good at it, you just need more instruction and practice. Just like not everyone is a piano prodigy, but anyone can learn to play with the right teacher.

May help to have another dancer, a friend, or a dance teacher if you can afford one actually instruct you. Someone who can pinpoint specific actions and actually put their hands on your body and move it in appropriate ways, plus tell you when you're doing it right.

Slower music can help. Try Kisses Down Low, Skin (by Rihanna), Motivation, Ride It (Ciara). All those songs are in 4/4 time signature, meaning you can count to four over and over while you listen to the beat of them. Pick a movement, say placing your back on the pole and sliding all the way down til you're sitting on your ass. Count all the way to 8 or even 16 and make sure your movement takes up the WHOLE time. Like you are standing on 1, and you're sitting by the time you get to 16. Don't rush. Do it over and over til it feels natural to do it that slowly and you don't have to count any more. You could do it with opening your knees in a butterfly motion, rotating your hips, sitting on your hands and knees and sliding forward til your boobs touch the floor, etc. Whatever you normally do, just count it out. I'm not sure if I'm explaining it well, but I can make you a video if you need.

Choreographing your dances may help. Rather than just going up there and flailing around. Once you get a set of movements that look right, perform them in a specific order.

Be patient with yourself...your muscles have memories that you've programmed into them unknowingly all your life. Those memories can and will change, and they'll be permanent once they do.

Don't worry -- all of us looked awkward and spazzy during our first few stage shows. Just by being up on stage again and again, you will start to look better and get more comfortable up there. Trust me, you will look graceful and sensual soon enough! The fact that you *raelize* you have to move slower will go a long way to actually making you do. Think like molasses and exaggerate each and every movement. You are in no rush to switch poses or move or anything. Take your time. Maybe it will help to count slowly in your head while you're moving.

Dance in front of mirrors. I was the same way when I started, but worked at a club with a lot of mirrors. After learning how to move prettily in front of a mirror, you just have to practice those moves until they feel natural. Eventually, the moves will be second nature and you won't have to think about it any more.
