Default my new favorite move on the pole is killing me!

I work at a nude club and even though I essentially make nothing on stage I just LOVE dancing on stage so much and I'm obsessed with doing pole tricks.

I recently taught myself a new move where I go upside down on the pole and hang from one leg. It looks quite cool but my skin reeeally hurts everytime I do it.

I'm used to bruises and muscle pain but not my skin itself hurting. How can I combat the pole hurting my skin??

Outside leg hang or inside leg hang?

Outside and inside is just practice to get the skin to toughen. However I've noticed with inside leg hangs if you have any hair on your legs or bikini (even itty bitty stubble) the pole pulls on it and makes it really hurt lol.

Your skin will toughen up in time, even if there is a bit of stubble. Just do your best to get rid of all of it, also whatever grip aide you are using, slap a bit onto your inner thighs. When I was dancing I would apply my grip aid to hands, a bit on inner thighs & my trapezius area where I do my shoulder mounts just for a little sweat-proofing insurance. Once your inner thighs & hips toughen up (like the area where you do inverted hip hold or jade type tricks) you may have a couple rough patches that look like razor burn but are really pole burn.

Usually sm liquid-chalk variant, there is a thread around here smwhere 'What kind of grip aide do you use?' Stuff like itac or dry hands, help you stick to the pole

Dry Hands would be good for this but I'm pretty sure that itac on the thighs when you are already having a skin/grip issue is going to make you cry on stage.

Make sure you are using proper technique to get onto the pole. Stand with your hips slightly infront of the pole before you invert and make sure you are hooking your leg above where your hands are so you don't end up moving around or having to pull a hand out from under a leg and irritating your skin as bad. Definitely invest in some grip, I like dry hands the best.

FWIW I recommend Mission Skincare UltraGrip gel. You can find it at sporting goods stores, in little 1oz white plastic bottles. It grips but doesn't grip so much that I can't still slide a bit when I need to.

Thanks for the advice guys! I woke up with some wicked bruises this morning. One of the girls I work with is amazing on the pole so I'm going to ask her if I'm using proper technique when she gets in. I always have some pain when I learn a new move so hopefully it'll go away with time and the grip products you guys recommended!
