    Mind Blowing Civilian Heels HELP!

    Fuck my life. Shoes HURT!

I rock stripper heels for 8-10 hours at a stretch without issue... but now I have some opportunities coming up where stripper heels won't do!

I have been buying heels online, trying them on in stores, buying and returning, wearing them for a while and then wanting to douse them with gasoline and burning them. I have attempted to find a pair of classy shoes, with heels, that won't eat my feet up. I want shoes that I don't have to think about. I want shoes that aren't excruciating. I need to be able to walk in them... I need to be able to stand on a swaying subway train... I need to be able to climb stairs into and out of the train stations... I need to walk briskly (because I have a habit of being late, so you know I've got to hustle!).

How do these girls wear heels all day? I haven't found a pair that I could wear for longer than an hour. I've tried cheap shoes, I've tried designer shoes and basically everything in between. Price isn't an issue, though I would prefer more bang-for-my-buck. But someone has to HELP ME! I am at my wits end. All of the "comfortable" brands like aerosoles, naturalizer, crocs, etc. are unattractive and poorly designed. I need wearable shoes that look fantastic. I like wedges, heels, and closed toes... it's too damn cold for peep-toes anyway.

    Please help.

I would go w/ wedges as I find them more stable. Gel inserts are your friend here, & you can even double them up. There are clear gel inserts that are meant to be worn in civilian heels.

I have a pair that is a similar style to this. The platform is solid & runs the entire length of the shoe instead of tapering off at the front, & there are two adjustable straps, over the upper & middle part of the instep rather than around the ankle. I hate wearing heels of any kind but I would wear them all day, double up the gel inserts & my knees are happy.

What about stripper shoes which were made to be comfortable and danced in, but don't look like stripper shoes? Like heels by Pleaser that have low or no platforms?
These ones don't look too over the top...

^^^^ Maybe part of the problem is the lack of platform? Stripper shoes are designed for long wear, but part of the design typically includes a thick sturdy platform. I have noticed that the thinner soles of my civilian heels vs my thicker-soled civilian heels give me more pain & it starts a lot sooner.

I need shoes that look fashionable... but a 5.5" heel may be a little too much. Looking low-key isn't exactly my specialty... but I have to tone things down to look 'appropriate'. Sadly the wedge mary-janes are too blocky (though I imagine they feel wonderful). I'm dealing with somewhat fashion conscious folks in a professional setting so I can't look too runway and I can't look too casual either. Why won't shoemakers make something that looks fabulous AND feels comfy? I can't be the only one to suffer from shoe sadness. How do you (or anyone else) deal with all-day civilian heels?

Except for my trainers & my steel-toed boots I put the gel inserts in every pair of shoes I have, stripper or civilian.

My go-to if the occasion/setting doesn't require fancy heels is sm sort of boot. I used to have sm low-key but professional looking ankle-hgt boots, closed-toe, heel 2" max, leather, think I found them at Nordstrom. They were very comfy, I had to get them for a flying job & they were easy-on/easy-off so once we were in the air I could just slip them off

I was going to recommend gel inserts -- they make a world of difference!

Also, definitely look for regular heels with even a tiny platform.

    ^This!

Wedges offer more support, are easier to walk balance in, usually aren't slippery, they are easy to dress up or down etc. Just make sure that they are platform wedges (heels of any kind are often uncomfortable if they aren't).

If you have your heart set on stilettoes, you can buy "stripper heels" that look like civilian ones online (pleaser have a lot).

I'm a huge fan of Miz Mooz for cute heels that aren't outrageous in style and don't sacrifice comfort. They run pretty true to size, too.

Chelsea Crew is also fairly comfortable http://www.modcloth.com/shop/ourdesigners/chelsea-crew (can also find the brand through DSW but not as fun colors for what they offer)

Jeffrey Campbell shoes are beyond comfy. I can go all day and night in 'em. Might be a bit too funky for you though.

I cannot remember what brand they were (my dog ate them ) but I have had 2 pairs of cheap black heels from Payless. I think one was Payless brand. But they were SO comfortable... and cheap enough that if they weren't, it was no big investment, they were like $10-$15.

Anything expensive has always been painful. Odd but that's my experience!

Michael kors are super comfy for me. Everyone has different shaped feet so you will have to experiment and find a brand that works for you. +1 on the gel inserts
