Default My first negative money day

Yesterday, I paid out of pocket to work. Ok, it was only $2, but what a waste of time. I usually work Monday day shift, but there were a ton of girls there and none of the usual spenders who would normally come in on Mondays. I must have been on my phone all day trying to drum up some business. Eventually a regular came in, but he got called back to his office. He did pay my house fees for me, but I still had to tip the dj and bouncer with the little I made from stage.

Most of the day there were less than 5 customers in the bar. When I left at 7pm there were 32 girls working. I figured that I would just call it a night. Our usual Monday night shift is about half that. All the other day shift girls were going to hang around to see if they could make some money.

Going back in today. I have a regular who comes in every Tues and Thurs and gets at least 30 mins in VIP. Here's hoping I make enough today to make up for yesterday.

I'm wondering at what point do you just give up and go home? Do most girls just stick around hoping to make more money? Does it ever work?

    Those days suck :/

I dunno. I mean, I believe in the "it only takes one spendy customer" mantra, but at the same time, if you have been hanging out there for hours and hours and it shows on your face how bored you are, are you going to be able to land that customer?

Personally I will leave after an hour of no new customers coming in (yep , it does get THAT dead here) or an hour and a half of no dances sold. I like to count by time, and by those points is when I can feel myself going "Fuck this" and know that I won't be in the mood to sell dances if I stick around.

I usually stick around because from 7 to 8 there's a little evening rush that can save the day. There's been several shifts where I made up for a slow day in that last hour. But unfortunately sometimes there's a DUI checkpoint set up literally right outside our doors! Those days suck so bad.

I know it could have been worse. I doubt that a high end club like you are describing would hire me. I'm only a 5-6 looks wise. I know it would be a waste of time (and money) to even apply at such a club. My club has really low house fees ($20 on day shift, $50 for nights), so I'm not stuck paying up a huge bill if I need to leave before I make any money.

Wow... House fees are expeez in the US. Montreal clubs have an average of $15-$30, with the highest end club maxing out at $70. And a lot of you pay a portion of your dances to the house? We keep all the cash.

I've had a 0 night once before, and that was terrible for moral. I didn't want to go to work the next day. But at that club the house fees were $20, and the manager told me not to pay because he saw I hadn't had any custies. Coming out in the negative would suck.

my club's house fee runs from 70 to 100 :/ and its a ten hour shift, but since they also have a strict schedule i can't leave just because i get bored which is actually good in a way, it forces me to to stay. i totally know what you mean by getting bored, anxious and annoyed by no dances or customers to the point where you don't even want to hustle ..but i won't leave with nothing, i just can't accept it! ill stay til the end if necessary because near closing is always the busiest. i use that annoyance and anger, and get more aggressive with getting dances, but it works! never left in the negative thank god

I think most dancers have been there at least one, myself included, so I know how you feel. It fucking sucks -- especially when it's because the club is overbooking girls and getting greedy on the house fees. Luckily, that usually regulates itself as enough girls get fed up by not making money that they go elsewhere.

The point where I leave is when, after working the minimum shift (5 hours at my club), I know there are no regulars coming and no one new has stepped into the bar in half an hour or so or I haven't made money in about an hour. The times go up and down depending on how profitable the shift has been up to then though. There's nothing wrong with realizing when enough is enough and calling it quits. It's hard to make money once you get in a funk, so it's often best to just try again another time.

Here's hoping today is/was better! My shift today actually started out reeeeeeally dead and as I was telling the DJ I was signing out, I got a text from a regular so the shift ended in a high-note. Fingers crossed for you!

I felt that way last fri night ^ It was overcrowded with younger kids & some older ones but I didn't make money until around 2 am :/ and I got there at 11pm. I hate sitting around all night getting rejected left & right then only make a small amount after the club takes their cut blah!

My managers never let me leave!

Personally I get to work late-- my club closes at 4 so my shift doesn't start till around 8pm, more often I get there around 9:30. Our business gets good between 12-4am, but if by 3am I haven't made anything I will sometimes ask to leave and 99% of the time I get a no from my manager. But to be honest, if it's already 2am I figure I'm already there, I'm already dressed why not just stay? It's not like leaving an extra hour early is going to allow me to really relax or do something fun!

I'm sorry your night sucked tho! Hate those

I'm sorry-that's a milestone that none of us want to reach!

At my club, we have to stay a minimum of six hours, but I stay 7 & 1/2. I've told my customers my schedule and I've found that if I stay with it, it pays off.

However, I agree with those that say it is sometimes better to leave when you don't have the mental stamina and return refreshed the next day. Otherwise, you may risk turning off a potential customer by not being your best stripper self.

Today was better. My regular came in and got his 30 mins in VIP. It was still dead and still a ton of girls, but at least I had an ok day. I also met another customer who has potential to become a regular. We have the same hobby and he really wanted to get more dances with me, but he had to leave. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he will be back this Friday.

Friday day shift we had 22 girls and about 15 customers up til 4pm. I had made about 110 so after I tipped out I had 70something. I would rather cut my losses and pick up a shift on a different day. I have luckily never been in the negative. There was one night years ago when only 3 guys had been in the entire night but I had made 40 or 50 bucks. If you are stressed by the lack of customers it won't work out well for you anyway. Go home and get some cleaning or shopping done instead.

This happens a lot at one of the clubs I work at. It is a high end club and they always have a ton of hot hustlers there on any given day. I would say most either leave in the negative or with little money after tipping out around $100. I mean there just aren't enough spending customers to support 40 girls on a Tuesday night. You can imagine the squabbling that goes on when there are actually spenders there. I have left in the negative on several occasions. A lot of the girls keep going in there day after day and eventually make $ and kudos to them. I have no patience for that. I basically show up every month to keep my spot there in case I need it but I have long since found other places to make actual stripper money. Sometimes it's good to spread out a little and not put your eggs in one basket. The "best" most popular clubs aren't always the most lucrative.

It's times like these that I am happy I no longer dance. While I have never owed a club there was one time I left with 0 after paying the house (and that was because I begged a club regular to get dances with me to cover house). Several times at other clubs I left with so little that it became more trouble to dance for 7-8 hours for $20 or less. At these clubs no one was making money because they had no customers or not many spending customers. I ended up leaving these clubs, though at one of them I really liked the managers but I couldn't afford to make enough for gas money. Having a negative (or making little money)will happen to everyone but if it's happening all or most of the time it's either the dancer or the club.
