Default does being a redhead hurt your stripper business?

I've been stripping for a while but I've always been a blonde-- when I started I was dirty blonde, then platinum blonde, and I've been a strawberry blonde since I started back at work. However, I've been wanting to go red for years so I just went for it on Wednesday.

Thursday was my first night working with red (it's auburn right now) hair and I did really well, but tonight I just sucked. I was feeling pretty shitty (physically) but I was just having a really rough time making money. I ended up only working a 3 1/2 hour shift and going home with $260 which is the WORST I've ever done on a Friday.

I was complaining in the dressing room and this girl told me that it was because I'm a redhead... she said that guys are either into "blondes or brunettes, but nobody's into red."

Have any of your ladies tried red and noticed a change in your income? I'm just curious, because honestly the reason I've been holding off on it is because of what she said-- I feel like guys like blondes or brunettes.

i think making $260 in 31/2 hrs is great! I dont think guys really have a preference, I think they love confidence. If u love the red hair men will notice and be drawn to u. I think its all about a great attitude and not about hair color.

I have traveled the red road a couple times while dancing, as sm shade of deep red or auburn has been my go-to colour for yrs when I want to change up my hair. I have dark eyes & light skin so as long as it is not sm wild radioactive shade it has always been able to look natural on me. Plus you don't find a lot of redheads in my home country & anyway the American image of Eastern Europeans is all abt the blonde hair/blue eyes so it did make me stand out in a good way.

I think I made more with my deep red hair than I do now with my black/blue. Though other factors such as time of year might have an effect.

It depends on how you style it and how it suits you. Hot is hot and men in strip clubs rarely care past that.

Agreed. While I prefer brunettes, hot is hot.

I do recall a redhead in Vegas accusing me of "redhead prejudice" when I turned a lapdance offer down. Didn't exactly nudge me to change my mind.

It's definitely not your red hair. There are dudes that dig each hair colour, and many are REALLY into the red. I have auburn hair and customers love it. As with anything, you need to rock it with confidence to do well though.

I think your bad day had more to do with you not feeling well which made you walk in in a bad mood, coupled with it not being busy right away and then you not staying for a very long time at all. You didn't really give your night the chance to get any better.

I have dyed red hair, and get compliments on it from guys every night I work. Trust me, if a guy is into redheads, he's REALLY into redheads.

Ok Imagine that your stripper persona is a combat character in a videogame:

You can change a bunch of things about your character that slightly increase or decrease her Hit Ratio %. There's a lot of things you can customize here: hair colour, eye colour, weight, outfit, breast size, butt size, you get the picture.

What it comes down to is really the opperator. The gamer. So what if statistically speaking more guys like blondes than anything else. Statistically speaking over 50% of marriages have been failing for a good while, and people are still doing that left right and centre. I've had natural blonde with highlights, platinum blonde, purple hair, and various shades of brown-auburn, and I've danced in a 50lb weight range. You give a good gamer a shitty character they'll still be able to make it work :p if YOU like your hair, rock it, and just make. it. work. Money will follow.

For the record though: highest averaging hair colour for me: auburn. I really think there is something to be said for knowing your personality and appropriately styling yourself outwardly to match and therefore present a cohesive product to customers. I was not a good blonde for example. (even though that is my natural colour!) The guys that want blondes want dumb party girls for the most part. With dark hair I get a lot more customers that want a more genuine and intimate experience with more conversation skills involved, which is exactly my forte, see what I mean? But for a girl that prefers the party girl hustle she will do better as a blonde most likely.

guys LOVE redheads! all my customers told me that they would love me to go red when i ask them what their hair color preference is.
i've only met one guy who said he didn't like red hair.
it a very unusual hair color. only 2 % of the population has red hair, and its the hardest color to keep in your hair if you have a dye job.

Thanks guys. I think I'm just freaking out about changing my hair, I've been some shade of blonde for the last five years.

I know some guys love redheads, I'm just wondering if that number is much smaller than the amount of guys who love brunettes/blondes.

I think part of it is that I'm still getting used to this color/how I feel about it on me that I may not have been coming across as my most confident self on Friday. And I really wasn't feeling well.

I know when I get back to my regular club on Monday they're gonna freak when they see it cause they're always telling me to go talk to so and so because he loves blondes. But I just felt like it's my hair, it's my body, even if I DON'T make as much money with it I can't give up part of my body to the stripping industry and simply model it after what makes money... I don't know if that last part made any sense, I'm having trouble putting it into words.

Also, there are absolutely no redheads at my club, just blondes and brunettes. So I might do well, or I might do really bad (the last time I said that I was at a club with all Hispanic girls and I was the only white girl and I went home with like $75, so here's to hoping it's different this time!)

depends on your club and confidence. if you're in a tiny club and one of just a few blondes I wouldnt go red. but if there are lots of blondes already then yes red would make you stand out which is a good thing.

^ What ShannaD said about mindset/attitude is true.

I am natural red (strawberry blonde) and I use it as a selling point. I tell them I'm a natural red, I ask "if they want to see my strawberry patch" (don't laugh Olive!), or say "I can prove it" as I look at my knickers. ie. I keep a trim patch of pubes because I'm red downstairs too.

    Embrace your differences!

I think I just needed to get used to it... I LOVE this shade of red on myself now and I've been doing great at work the last couple days. I had a customer tell me tonight that I look like Lana Del Ray (I may have brought in a pic of her hair to my hairdresser because I'm kind of obsessed with her) and I almost wanted to dance with him for free because it made me so happy (but I didn't lol).

I danced with my hair every color of the rainbow, literally. I made the most with long straight blonde, long curly black hair (like Chanel West Coast but with black hair), and long red. Blonde was good for the wanna dance hustle and brought more guys to the stage. It also worked on a bigger variety of people. Seems most people like blondes with natural DDD's... Black worked best with couples buying champange rooms and mexicans. The red was good because I ended up with 2 customers that would only get dances with me WHEN I had red hair, any other color, they were nice and bought me drinks, but not dances. I think red has a more 'willing to spend' type of customer, because it's hard to find. When I had the red I would rock the Jessica Rabbit style, but then my friend who had real red hair and the stage name Jessica started working my club, so I went back to blonde.

But I'm also in the midwest. Your location says CA, so I would assume if that blonde and brunette would be more popular (especially blonde if you're coastal of near LA)

you also may need to change your outfit and makeup. maybe all of the red guys are into the same style for the rest of you thats conflicting eiyh the blonde image...aka girl next door vs bombshell.

^I have to slow-down on my tanning for the auburn-- my strawberry blonde looked great with a heavy tan but not the auburn. I stopped tanning for a week but I just felt too ghostly pale so now I'm just getting a slight tan.

I pretty much copy her exact look when I get ready for work... side part, voluminous curls, and cat eyes (I just also throw in a little glitter on the liner). So it's not a surprise he told me I looked like her!

Natural red heads and dyed red heads tend to look totally different, IMO. For example, rarely does a natural redhead ever look heavily tanned. my point is, I doubt men in the club really care about hair colour per se, only the very few with a hair fetish. And those who 'don't like redheads' probably wouldn't mind a girl with dyed red hair anyway.

I think that's hot and attracts a higher end clientele. Love Lana del Rey and I'm sure the right customers love that look. I would say to pull it off it's necessary to look very put together, 'clean', 'made up'. I don't know what you wear at work, but I wouldn't do bikinis or 'ghetto looking' stuff. More bra sets, lingerie, garters, corsets, etc. Depending on the club and how many other girls do that look, you should bank.

Also, men usually stereotype redheads as bitches, so you could project that 'confident, bitchy' vibe. I see $$$$$

When I danced with red hair (bright, fake red) I always did significantly better on nights when I was the only one working with red hair. If you're the only redhead in your club, I'd say stick with it.

Its crazy how much people actually believe stereotypes. Its almost downright embarrassing.

My opinion about this is that most men actually DO like redheads, but many don't like the IDEA of a redhead. Redheads are stereotyped to be crazy (~*fiery redhead*~), intense, awkward, or nerdy. And I would think that the thought of those characteristics might be a sexual turnoff for a lot of guys. And even then, while the THOUGHT of that might be a turn off, I don't even think most guys are actually turned off by those characteristics in real life. And I don't even think most redheads actually have those characteristics. But its like the dumb blonde stereotype.

    ^True!

It's been two weeks and it's already fading! God this color's hard to maintain. I don't even wash my hair every day, I wash it like every 3 days. I mean it's still red but it's not the red it was, a lot of the blonde is coming through. But I'm still getting so many compliments on it, girls and customers!

Not sure if it's sold in USA, but I purchased a coloring conditioner by Vitality's, called Espresso, to maintain the red color for longer between the procedures. I love my red hair, some guys like it, others don't.

A girl told you guys aren't into redheads? That's the biggest pile of shit I've ever heard. Rule number one...don't listen to anything another stripper tells you.

It could be the SHADE of red...if it's a bad dye job then any color that's a bad dye job is going to make you look less attractive. But if it's nice looking and goes with your features then your hair color should be the last thing to shoo guys away.
