Smiley DIY Makeup Colors ~ And Cheap, Too!

Okay, ladies. I'm about to share with you a trick that could save you hundreds on your car insurance. I mean, on your makeup collection. I got sick of paying a fortune every time I want a new color of makeup, which is pretty much always. So here's what I did:
    1. I bought a 120 color eye shadow palette makeup kit on eBay for about $15. They also have loose color sets, and some are cheaper than this. I saw one with less colors, but all pinks and purples, for about $8. It's really up to you and what you want to do with it.
    2. I bought the CHEAPEST makeup at the dollar store, or in some cases, Walmart. For nail polish, lipstick, and lip gloss, I bought whitish pink colors. NYC brand is always super cheap. You could use clear polish and lip gloss also.
    3. I used a Q-Tip and rubbed the color I wanted from the palette, then mixed it into the makeup and applied it. Ta da~ I've even been painting my nails with a Q-Tip, but you might want to try a used (and washed, of course) nail polish brush.
And even better, the eye shadow palette set also works as (surprise!) eye shadow!

I then became especially greedy and looked up how to make my own face powder compact, and a site called Wellness Mama recommended using arrowroot or cornstarch, plus a bit of cocoa powder and cinnamon, to make it. I used cornstarch, and I think it looks really nice on cam. I apply lotion to my face to make my skin a bit sticky, then dust it on with a makeup brush. You could probably mix skin-colored eye shadow colors into the powder. It may look even nicer, but I haven't tried that yet since I liked how the original powder looks.

Hopefully this helps some of you penny-savvy cammers (and strippers, and various other things). I spent under $25 for everything, and it will all last a very long time. This is also a way to rescue makeup that you ended up not liking the color of. Just add some new tint and it's a fresh color.

Also, I wrote this in a hurry. If any of it is unclear, just yell at me and I'll try to clarify.

I like mixing a small amount of Vaseline with my less pigmented powder eyeshadows. It helps to make it stick better and look brighter, just be sure to mix accordingly.

With less pigmented eyeshadows use NYX jumbo pencil in "Milk", here's a few swatches with it and without it.

I suck at make up so I'll just do eyeshadow and they always come out so light can't even tell.

I've heard good things about elf brow powders in terms of value for money ($3).. I've seen them at Target. I use Nyx brand at Ulta, which is $6, but look basically like the same thing.

^^^ If you have dark eyebrows definitely go for elf. That's what I use and is actually pretty goo. But be warm, the darkest one is REALLY dark, basically for people with real black hair, and the medium one works for people with chocolate brown or slightly darker hair.
