Time to buy a gun or tazer, especially living alone and you have weirdos knocking on your window in the middle of the night. Second of all your neighbors have no right to pry in your business. You are a student and that's all they need to know. Next time you have someone snooping around knocking on your window call the police! Stay safe momma

If you can be seen through your window you need to invest in better window coverings.

Just don't let your neighbors (or anyone who you know IRL who isn't family, a very close friend or serious boyfriend) know what you do--there's a thread titled something like "I don't think camming is working out for me..." that has a lot of ideas for online vanilla jobs, you can use them as a cover--and more importantly don't let your customers know where you live or anything about you.

If that's the only instance of creepy stuff going on then I doubt that the knock on your window was a stalker... if they wanted to make themselves known that's kind of a lame way to do it. It was probably either someone you know or someone who had the wrong house, was looking for someone who used to lived there, etc. But yeah, just to be safe I would keep pepper spray/a knife/whatever on you at most times.

Make sure you have light darkening curtains up. Get the dog potty bells to hang from your front door. If someone is trying to open your door you will hear it. Always put something heavy behind your door. If you have bushes outside your window have maintenance trim them way back so nobody can hide behind them. Always have your cell charged, on and in the same room as you. When you sleep at night have the main stuff you would need next to you in a bag- this is good in case of fire also. Tell your neighbors you think you have a stalker. That might keep them from coming around too much being nosey if you tell them you're very shy and jumpy because of this. AND they will keep an eye out and tell you if they see something. Always keep your windows locked. Move to an upstairs apartment as soon as one becomes available. FUCK first floor living= it's too easy for creepos. Also try to get and apartment where the door faces a courtyard and alot of people can see your door. BE PARANOID!
Someone will post you a link but if you google stripperweb and stalker you will find lots of reads.

I have a similar problem with one of my neighbors who I made the mistake with by becoming friends.(I don't have much of a social life at the moment, so I thought it would be a good idea, since he already had a girlfriend when we met).
Even though I live in a hi-rise, he must watch from his window at my comings and goings, because EVERY time I walk into the bldg. he texts me, and call non-stop asking me to go to his condo for a visit.
I never return his calls, or texts, but even though I never told him which unit I'm in, I've gotton off the elevator several times when he was in there also, so he knows wwhich floor I'm on. I can even smell his obnoxious cologne outside of my door, especially while I am camming, so I know he is stalking me.
I'm just praying for him to move.

if you were dancing half naked without curtains closed then i guess any one who walked by could have saw u and decided to knock your window to let you know you were visible. perhaps they were being polite by letting you know u were visible at the window but were too shy to knock the door and tell you so they knocked and ran.

    Default Re: Stalker question

First off make sure they CAN NOT see you. Why would you dance around your room half naked or just be in the room knowing people can see you?
I am not being mean, but I have had stalking from another country due to a slip from a friend that came my way as well and it was the most scary shit you can go through. Threats, putting my address out there, telling people to come visit me why pay to screw me etc. Really? I had his sorry ass arrested!!
I still live every day in fear that he has sent a weirdo to my home who may just be watching. Got to be safe you know.

Here is what I did. Maybe some of this will help you.
First, cover those windows up! Black out time for neighbors! Keep the music low while working late nights. (you could have made someone angry and they wanted the music in that room down, then they see you.. anyway)
No moaning too loud or screaming, some customers will ask you to scream or yell their name while they have paid you. Don't do it. You have neighbors close by it seems.
Never let your neighbors know you cam. They probably see you don't leave to work, so say some BS like transcription or something like that you do for work, but it's none of their business!
Get a DOG! If you can, I have several.
Get a firearm IF you are capable of taking target shooting lessons with a reputable trainer at a range. You Do NOT need a concealed weapons permit to own a firearm in your own home. Be sure to think hard about this, you will need lessons, and the proper firearm. Never shoot outside your door, ever! (sure you know this)
Can't afford a dog... get a dog barking alarm, they are on Amazon and I have a coupe friends who went that route! They are loud and sound very real. Check them out on Youtube first however.
Put bells on your door knobs. It opens you will hear it.
Put tall glass bottles on your window sills. A window breaks these fall and you will hear it!
If someone breaks in while you are not home, have valuables hidden in a Tampon box under bathroom sink with other products! Robbers won't go in a tampon box. Have a couple tampons covering the top of the open box, or a large box of sanitary pads works too. Just have it already opened with jewelry under a few pads/tampons.

IF you are a renter in an Apt. I guess some of suggestions are easy steps to take no matter what. A dog may not be allowed. If you get a dog, let NO neighbors pet it. They then know it's friendly.
If you live in a house alone... Please take these steps!
Also sleep with a cell ready for 911. Even an old cell that has been turned off, charge it, keep it... they will always call 911 for you.
Last... be aware of your surroundings now. You said you had stalkers before. Watch who seems to be around a lot, who says hello a lot, or just waves or peeks out a window at you.
I am guessing that you had a peeping tom who came upon you, well hoping. THey are by no means harmless! They can turn very ugly. Do not be afraid to take action!
Always yell FIRE! Never rape, people can and have left women alone hearing the word rape. But a fire is a threat to many you will have the publics attention!

PS I have blinds with black out thick curtains covering all windows in my home. I will not play around with a stalker.
If you have a stalker who seen you and knocked on the window, you should have stopped working and called 911 and had a report done on this. It's a start to building a file with whoever is messing with you. I always have since the online stalking happened, I had an incident where one window that was secure but some dumb ass did not know I had dogs and was armed thought he was coming in. He was not coming in to say hello, that's for sure. Crime scene came out found foot prints in the sandy area of my yard and my screen was tapped down a bit by what looked like a screwdriver. My mistake... I had loud music on. You can not hear with loud music, dogs at times miss it too with loud music. Play your music, but step outside and see if you hear it through the window first, if you hear it outside it's too loud! Keep it low. Be aware. Always.
Good luck. Sadly our job attracts some sickos, as well as random guys around your area could be the blame.
    Stay safe.

Maybe it´s just me, but if I hear someone knocking my window, in the middle of the night, and I see nobody out there, I would be probably scared to death XD. Anyway, I agree that maybe it was just someone trying to let you know that you were visible. In that case I suggest you to try to cover your windows, not only a stalker could see you, but childrens too.

Target sells blackout curtains for around $10-15 a piece. Also look into buying a security bar to prop on your door. Please be careful, especially with dancing in front of the window. Like...don't do it unless you have the curtains. This all sounds like some scary shit.

Littlealex, you should have a separate e-mail account for camming. Most people have their real name displayed in outgoing e-mails, so that wouldn't be good if you're e-mailing regulars from that e-mail address. Create a separate e-mail account that's just for camming.

And whatever you do, please don't become Facebook friends with camming regulars...no matter how cool you think they are. By doing that you'd be giving them access to your real name, your family, your friends, work, school, etc. And the photos you have on your FB profile...never use those same photos on camming profiles/Twitter profiles. For everything camming-related use Twitter instead.

I was camming a couple months ago and a viewer said something about coming to visit me since he lives not far from ______. He named a major landmark very close to my place. I was creeped out and banned him from my room. I never even tell viewers my real province, so I don't know how he figured it out, but scary for sure!

Are you giving out info to your customers? Why do you think all these people know where you live? Invest in a tazer, gun, or some self defense classes to protect yourself. Telling the cops wont do shit unless they are truly stalking you and your job does not matter (a stalker is a stalker) I know that it camming or anything in the adult industry is great money, but if you are constantly looking over your shoulder and being nervous about people knowing where you live is it worth it?

I don't know. It's possible you may have done one or more of the following:

*Did a Skype show without using a VPN service, and he got your IP address.

*You let him pay you via PayPal, which is attached to your real name, so he's looked you up on Facebook and/or Google.

*You've given a little too much info on cam about where you live (for example: saying you live next door to Pet Smart and a movie theater, and announcing that it's currently 30 degrees in your town).

*Tweeting a photo while your phone's geo-tag feature is turned on.

*Accidentally e-mailing a customer from your primary e-mail account where your real name is displayed as the 'sender'.

I remember another cam girl in a similar situation saying that the police didn't seem to give a damn about helping her. And I think that's fucking awful. You're not doing anything illegal. I wouldn't have even used the term 'cam girl' when speaking to the police. When I'm in a situation where I have to discuss it, I usually don't even use the word 'cam'. I just say that I'm in charge of moderating a chatroom, and banning people...lol. A lot of people don't even know about webcamming, so they'll probably make false assumptions the moment you say "I'm a cam girl." I probably would've used the term 'chatroom host' or 'chatroom moderator' or something. I'm not sure how much of a difference that'd make though.

I recently told someone that I moderate an internet chatroom, and right away he's like "You mean you do porn?" WTF? Lol. Yeah, he's probably familiar with cam sites...because most people would not have automatically thought PORN just from the statement "I moderate a chatroom."
