Exclamation Costing me money to work

Hello ladies! Long time lurker here finally decided to join!I'm in the D/FW area and the club I've been at is the most inconsistent club I've ever worked at. It's so hit ot miss with the few customers we've been getting this month. It's so slow the first week in Jan I left negative 4 out of 5 days I worked. 2 of those days I didn't make one. Single. Dollar. So by the time I pay to work and tip out DJ and housemom, I had to go out of pocket to work that week. And my one day I made money was a whopping 150.00. So last week I worked only 2 days out of frustration. Both positive nights, but nothing big. 200 one night, 220 the other. So this week is looking pretty bleak as well. Last night made 3 whole dollars. So another negative night. And it's not just me. Other girls are doing just as bad. When a decent looking guy does come in, it's a race to get there first. Rediculous. The club I'm at is a large upscale club with a well known name so I don't understand what the hell is going on. And the management has been telling us it's slow everywhere, but I think they're full of shit. No way in hell can it be this bad everywhere. I haven't bailed yet because it's such a pain in the ass to go to a new club since we have to pay 60 for fingerprints in Dallas and honestly, I just don't have it to spare this month. Is anyone else taking a beating like this?

This thread was made last week about this very subject. If you can afford to go in day after day without making money then stay where you are. In Texas there are several little oil towns that have strip clubs. If I were you I would find one of those to go to and find a high volume club in Dallas like Babydolls too.

I was primarily at one club for the majority of my stripping career. I didn't have to worry because the money was consistent to the point where I would know exactly what I would make on a given night. Since that club went bad from poor management I have been pulling things together from different clubs and bachelor parties. It is more stressful and I still work harder for less money than pre recession, but I'm making something happen. Nowadays in this business you have to keep moving and adapting.

As discussed in other threads, there may be a whole lot of contributing factors to a reportedly very 'slow' January across the board. Among them ...

    - higher earning customers are facing a resumption of weekly Social Security tax withholding, which they won't 'max out' for the year until Summer or Fall
    - everybody is facing high credit card bills due to Christmas shopping
    - unusually cold temperatures throughout the country are increasing January utility / heat bills
    - many states and localities have enacted higher income taxes and property taxes ... with property tax bills often due in January
    - unit prices for gasoline, groceries etc. remain unseasonably high
    - higher earning customers are facing higher 2014 cap gains and AMT taxes on their 'passive' investment income.
    - 4th quarter estimated tax payments on ordinary and investment income was due on January 15th
    - the US stock market has been trending negative, resulting in investment losses for higher earning customers

Hopefully customers will have a bit more money available for spending on 'non-essential' items like lap dances next month. However, some of this appears to be 'permanent' i.e. higher taxes, higher prices for 'necessities', etc. diverting more dollars out of higher earning customer paychecks.

Well hell I guess it's not just me/my club then. My lazy ass could've found that thread if I just looked. Jekka you're right, I need to go somewhere else if just to break up the monotony of sitting and waiting for hours for someone even decent to come in. On the bright side, I've gotten really good at Candy Crush!

    I'm sorry, SophieFatale.

I've been there and done that. It's soul-crushingly terrible to go through those stretches.

May I suggest something? A lot of financially comfortable customers like to (for lack of a better word) "slum"-it nowadays. They are conscious of their bank accounts and feel that they get a better deal in a mid-level club vs. big-name clubs with fees for just about everything and astronomical luxury-level prices. I've noticed that even wealthy clients are more interested in seeing a pair of tits/getting a dance rather than spending for the sake of spending and showing off in a palatial club. If you get a decent night, put $60 aside straight away and get your sexy ass down to a smaller club where you can be a big fish in a small pond. You need to realize that you are throwing money away and paying your clubs rent... and for what? You have to figure out a way to move on. Sometimes the grass isn't greener in the high-end places.

A smaller club will probably have lower fees. Less competition. And more customers (with smaller amounts of money, but it does add up).

Everyone is taking a financial hit right now. Just remember that you are a free agent and you have the option of going where the money is (or at least saving some money on fees).

A year ago I would work at this little dive bar occasionally but it went bad. Well there's a small group of ready to try somewhere else, but we each sit around waiting for the others to make the jump so we all go. Guess I'll have to lead the pack. Good luck to everyone the rest of the week!

Agree with this. When I was dancing I liked to work at the lower end clubs for the simple fact I stood out. At the higher end ones everyone will be pretty so there is competition but the smaller ones don't tend to hire as many girls and often are nicer to the dancers.

OP I often didn't work a lot in the winter because of the slowness. I found January and February were dead at times and not worth it to work. I live in a cold climate so add that with the post holiday and it explains why people din't go to clubs. I generally lived on my earnings (or got a vanilla job for a month or so)until the weather warmed up.

I have had 2 Mondays this month where I have just about made my fee, was a waste of time, I know how the OP feels, I think you should try somewhere else.

i've found that mid-tier is definitely the way to go. it not small, scummy, and divey looking enough to completely disgust and turn-off upper middle class men and good spenders, but its not ridiculously expensive and snooty like high-end places where he's gotta spend close to 70 bucks he even gets 1 ( probably not so great) dance..not to mention ridiculous house fees and tip outs that bankrupt a dancer.
there are slow seasons, and then there's what you are going through..NOT every place is so slow that you leave 4 times out of 5 with nothing or negative! a vanilla job would be better than that. i'm not saying or thinking that its you either, i'm sure that place just blows.
of course the management will tell you its slow everywhere, or that " next season things will pick up drastically", because they don't want you going elsewhere! they dont care that you aren't making shit, they just want your tip out

Fuck the pack, SophieFatale. Do your own thing.
You needn't lead. You needn't wait. This isn't a mutiny/exodus... this is work. Worry about yourself, first & foremost.

In stripping there is rarely a "we"... it's far more sensible to think about things in terms of "ME".

It's been bad at my club as well! I had two great nights in the last week but the only reason it happened was because I just got SUPER lucky with two customers. I would have made $100 on Monday if not for the this guy that came in at the end of the night. Last night I did not do well, went home with $250. I was just so damn frustrated and didn't feel like racing to the guys that were coming in when the other 12 girls were planning on doing the same thing!

If you have had this many bad nights of making zero, go elsewhere. It's bad but I haven't been pulling in multiple negative nights, I think that your club may not be attracting customers for whatever reason.

Girl I work in Dallas and your manager is not lying. There have been more strippers than customers for the last two weeks of shifts I've worked.
