Default I need a cover career for stripping. Help needed

I need ideas for my fake career. I don't tell many people I dance, my family currently thinks I work at a rehab center but this will not work long term. I can not think of anything that would fit my requirements:

    Night shift
    Reqires moderate travel
    Preferably white collar
    Decent income
Not something people can easily visit or check up on (like bar tending or the service industry)

I have a masters degree in psychology so maybe something in that field?

Social work: Night shift/intake/emergency counsellor in a shelter. You can't tell people where it is for safety/confidentiality reasons. Occasionally, you are seconded to other shelters within the system. It's best that you not talk about it, because you know, you'd be surprised who comes in there sometimes. You're still a temp, but fortunately the shifts and pay are quite regular nonetheless.

(I guess for some men, a strip club is a shelter... so it might not even be technically a lie!)

working bartender/waitress/set-up/take-down for a catering company (so your friends and family are never able to visit because they're private parties.)

I'm looking for something professional, not service oriented. The whole image thing, ugh :/ The shelter counselor is genius. I had a friend stay in shelter for women and she could not disclose the info to anyone. Thanks everyone!

Say you're a home health aide or an MRDD aide in either a private home or a group home. Laws are pretty strict about people not being able to visit you in these scenarios. Also, make wherever you pretend to work super far away if you need time after to wash off stripper face/eat something/deposit money. This also works if you do choose to say you're bartending, cuz people won't be as eager to visit you if you work an hour and a half away. Also, you can easily make a website and business cards and say you've started a cleaning service and get paid in cash. This way, if anyone checks, they'll be directed to you.

Suicide hotline/Kids Help Phone or some other in-bound call centre where your psych degree would be relevant.

A hotel bible distributor. You can tell them that you are working on converting the hard copies to digital disks. I've used that many times, and people are immediately respectful.

One of my stories is that I do petsitting and housesitting. I have actually done it before, and you wouldn't imagine the money people will pay to have you sleep at their homes so that their little fluffy cat won't be alone. No one has questioned me yet.

    whatever you pick should be:

    something you know something about,
something you can learn quickly about[thus bar supplies, do all your homework at work]
something very boring, so when you start talking about it others quickly change the subject.

You could be rep for stuff that is actually sold in the far east[you are out in the middle of the night] or better yet, you manage sales reps in the far eat, you don't know anything about the products you just field phone calls from idiot sales people[in the middle of the night]

sales reps notoriously know nothing in depth about the stuff they sell, they are schmoozers, so if you got caught not knowing something, you can laugh and tell them that's why they have tech people.....

there are millions of rep agencies, so no one is going to expect to know the name of yours, just pick some giant business complex with lots of small businesses in buildings. Around here you just say,' Oh, I work over in the back of the Cummings Center I swear, the place is so huge.....'

If you want something that can be used long term as a career cover (I'm guessing you want to be able to use this story for years), why don't you pay someone $500 to design you a website (or do it yourself if you know anything about html and have a couple days to play around) for a small business? If you majored in psych then some ideas might be business or marketing consulting, life coach, professional speaker, or travelling therapist of some kind? Business owners usually travel at least a bit, make a decent income, and have erratic schedules, so if you can think of something that you could easily bullshit about for a long time this could be a great cover. And if you pick something you're really interested in what starts out as your "cover" business could evolve into a legitimate business down the road when you want to retire!

That's great because then when people say, "Which one?" you can say, "Because of the nature of domestic violence it's best for me to keep all the details of my job in strict confidence. Women working for organizations like this are easy targets for abusers whose victims we help".

I say I am a singer for a band, which is true. I just don't have nearly as many gigs as people think I do. When someone wants to come see me perform I tell them the only things I have booked are weddings and corporate parties. There's plenty of Youtube and Google hits of my real name in relation to music, no one ever suspects anything.

Mary Kay beauty consultant/salesperson. They work their own hours and set up their own MK parties - day or night. You just need to buy a few MK kits, learn the basics about MK cosmetics and organize 2 or 3 MK parties for your husband's family and friends. Try to push them to buy MK cosmetics from you whenever they ask about work, and they will stop asking. You might even make a little money with this cover. I've known a few MK salespersons make very good commissions (and win a pink MK Cadillac.) Add a basic website with nice stock photos of lips, eyes, etc., wearing cosmetics and a link to MK's site (I assume they let you do this legally) and it will look very professional.

The only risk is running into a real MK beauty consultant who may ask you about MK conventions, your sales numbers, etc. They are like a cult with many conventions and motivational events. Just tell her you don't attend the events, because your psychology background gives you everything you need to sell, and you prefer to do things on your own. If she asks more questions, just say how you run your business is your "trade secrets," and, because it's such a competitive business, she should not suspect anything.
