Default Manhattan Club- Should i give up on getting a job?

I saw a posting for a well known club in Manhattan hiring waitresses for the dayshift

I had been there once last summer only to be immediately shot down and told that “the schedule was filled for the next month” at least.

I wasn’t even given a chance to audition even though I came fully prepared
Through a general consensus of the stripperweb users we concluded it was most likely a combination of my being a minority, and not having straight hair.

So I admitted defeat, but still thought applying as a waitress would be a good idea

I went last week only to have the bouncer tell me ALL spots were filled, even though they JUST posted the job opening a day ago on craigslist
At my disbelief...He changed his mind (ALL OF A SUDDEN) and told me to go in the next Monday to speak to a manager

So I went in the next Monday, and spoke to another bouncer this time who was somewhat rude

He took me to the manager I had spoken to when I applied as a dancer, and she was a lot nicer-mentioning that she had saw me the week before when I came in

But then she asked me for a resume?

Not that I didn’t think I should have one, but the posting said NOTHING about a resume and that you could be hired on the spot

Still she asked me to go in the next day with a resume

My POINT is after so many visits to the club and still being unsuccessful, am I being blown off because I don’t fit the euro look for the club? Or was it really my mistake for not having a resume?

This club isn't my only option I was just wondering whats going on with their hiring process

Honestly, I wouldn't bother going back to this club. You've been turned away, what, three times now? There are tons of other clubs in city, either to waitress or strip in, so stop wasting your time with this place and give somewhere else a shot. There's no point in even trying to make sense of their hiring process because, honestly, there is rarely ever much logic behind hiring in strip clubs - even for support staff positions. You're basically at the whim of the hiring manager on duty when you go in.

Yes. I'm finding if you don't look like a Kelly rowland but with light skin or beyonce, barely black or look like you have 2 tons of make up on [also assuming you don't speak ebonics] finding a waitressing job or dancing job is hit or miss. Of course there are exceptions to the rule...

New rules: Wear makeup that looks like you have on makeup
go to the right venue for you body type
Wear your hair: long, straight[or slightly wavy], with a non 'ghetto' color
Give a heads up to other blk girls so we don't go broke finding our needle in a haystack club ^_^
The only way to get rid of a temptation is to indulge in it...

I would be really surprised if a nice manhatten club would hire a waitress without a resume. its way more competitive than dancing.

Simple don't think much. If you have been turned away so many times, forget it and find some new place. There are many other clubs where you will easily find a job for you.

I'm assuming this is Flashdancers, and if so, it's not worth the effort anyway. Especially not for day shift.

I assumed it was them because they are always posting on craigslist. I used to waitress day shift there and it was pretty slow. Most days it would be about 8 of us just standing by the door for long periods of time waiting for customers.

^^^ That really suck, you could probable make more money as a regular waitress. Did you ever thought of stripping there?

I was thinking of being a waitress there too, but I see it might not be worth it. How much do you think night shift girls made on an average night?

I think usually around $300. Some nights better, some worse. Waitresses can do VIP there too so the ones that would ended up making a lot.
