    Default Traveling to dance

Spearmint Rhino offered to fly my girlfriend and I out to the Portland Rhino club at the end of the month to work. This opportunity is once in a life time!

By word of mouth and random online reading I've gathered from some sources that the clubs in Portland are dingy, guys are grabby, drugs, inappropriate sexual acts, pretty much everything that gives a strip club a bad name.

Now, how is it really? I know the rules vary from state to state and counties.

I just want to set my expectations appropriately. Any tips, advice, cautions I should know about? What about when it comes to packing? The plane ride with everything I'm going to need to dance for a week? Anything is appreciated<3

    Xoxo,

If something is too good to be true it usually is. Seeing the Rolling Stones is a "once in a lifetime opportunity". Getting flown out to work at a club is different.

I guess I should rephrase that, I was chatting with my girlfriend last week and we've been wanting to travel dance since going to Alaska in the summer fell through. It's just amazing when thoughts manifest into a reality.

If a club is flying regular house girls out, it's because they can't get local girls to work there. Portland isn't exactly in the middle of nowhere either -- the city is full of strip clubs and strippers.

Get everything about this "opportunity" in writing -- including the house fees and any other fees you will have to pay while there and if there are any protections for you if you don't make enough to cover them, and how long you must work there (or even how much you must earn the club if applicable) for your flights to truly be free).

Opening up a new corporate club with the image Rhino is trying to uphold, it's smart to do what they are doing. the local girls who have never been to a Rhino don't exactly know how they want girls dress/image to have that the company wants to hire. Fly in a few gals from out of town and there ya go. Numbers, I mean.. let's say 10-15 girls to fly out for about a week with everything paid for.... a few grand per girl? they make that back and more in a night. Well, hopefully they do, I get to come back home after all is said and done.

I've auditioned at some awful spots in Hollywood before that I had to go home and shower after. These places exist!

I'm not even worried about getting screwed, I trust this company, the managers and employees I work with, I have my bases covered with documents. I've opened up clubs with them before and they were true to their word.

My concerns: Pacific North West hospitality! School work. Expectations.

    If anything, what an experience.

I actually know about the club u are talking about and a few of my friends already dance there. they have a hard time keeping dancers for various reasons mostly unfair house fees / dance prices. i heard that to work the grand opening u had to pay $100 in fees and sell $20 lap dances for only $10 all day. The new SR is a posh club for Portland but not in the best part of town, making it out of place for the neighborhood. They charge customers more for dances ($30) than all neighboring clubs ($20). from customers and dancers alike the touch of las vegas is too out of place to be comfortable or profitable, for example the one club where girls bank on stage is club 205, which though the dancers may look vegas glamourous the club itself is typically more rundown sportsbar ... thats my 2 cents

in portland where theres over 60 clubs within 20 miles the diversity of clubs is rich. one trend is several businesses (SR for example) buy a failing strip club thinking that a posh new interior will make a difference and be profitable. this is not the case every time. we all know that the patrons come to the club for the girls not the plush sofa or interior environment etc ... that said in terms of contact there are 3 types of clubs in portland. consider this from the dancer and customer's side / pov : 1) Upscale Gentlemens Club, 2) Encouraged 2way contact clubs 3) Look the other way dive clubs. #1 type clubs are like SR, and frown upon customers touching dancers at all. #2 clubs are extremely different in that for a price sexual activities are allowed Casa Diablo for example. Golden Dragon is a #2 club 18 and over juice bar strip club with rooms where they give "hot lap dances" which means its really a lingerie club in that you rent the room and pay dancer (lingerie model) for various sexual services. #3 clubs are the majority and most popular, in these clubs dancers set their own line for what kind of intimacy they want to give. Prostitution is not legal but dancers in Portland are given free speech rights which has fostered an environment that enables sex acts to be performed legally; that said not all dancers are prostitutes but a majority allow 2 way contact which sets the standard for a high 2 way contact lap dance at $20 average.
