My feet hurt.It sucks. My arches aren't happy with me and it has been driving me up the wall. Arch support inserts haven't done much. And I'm sick of hobbling about when I get home. I've had to go all MacGyver to get some relief.
If anyone is interested, this is what has helped me:
1. I tried using a golf ball. I rolled it on the ground with the arch of my foot. I applied a lot of pressure. I was nearly brought to tears... tears of joy.
2. I used a book and slid my arch up and down the books spine. Perpendicularly.... meaning the book is laying closed, on the ground in front of you. It's laying on its back (or front) but the spine is facing you... widthwise.... like this: http://content.mycutegraphics.com/gr...green-book.png A large, heavy, hardbound book is best for this. I recommend an encyclopedia.
3. I remembered I had marbles... for some reason.... and I added 6-7 marbles to my sock. I pressed my foot to the ground... you probably want to be sitting down if you do this. It was like the best foot massage in the world when I rolled my foot around. Using a cushiony yoga matt between the floor and the sock-o-marbles or a rubbery/foam flipflop made this feel even better. I'm pretty sure carpet might accomplish the same thing but I couldn't investigate that since I have none. If you don't have a slightly cushiony material around, try using a folded towel. It will prevent your sock from sliding and you can isolate certain pressure points .
4. Topricin. http://www.topricin.com/default.aspx OMG. Topricin is like the holy grail of foot pain products. It's amazing. I had horrific swelling near my navicular bone (thanks to a night out in civilian shoes) a few months ago and no amount of ice could calm the inflammation down. The topricin took care of it in a day and a half and it has never bothered me since.
5. Epsom Salt... I'm still wearing my sock-o-marbles as I type this. Soon I'll be sticking my foot in a concentrated solution of hot-ish water and epsom salt. One galon-to-one-cup of epsom salt. Topricin will be going on after I'm done soaking... and I'll continue icing my foot just to quell the inflammation.
By my estimates, I should be good as new on Friday.
Hopefully this list can help you. Maybe one or two tips will be effective if you ever experience ouchy feetz.
