    Default Some help please :)

Hi guys I have a child entering school for the first time and soon I will have to fill out alot of paperwork. I notice on the main application online it says that I will need to provide paystubs or proof of self employment or tax records as proof of income. If I give them paystubs yet still tell them I am self employed do any of you have any experience with if they will take just the stub as proof? Also what do I tell them I do? on my tax return it says writer/entertainer I think its all one category so there a few things on it I could be doing but I was scared if I lied I could get in trouble but if I tell the truth I could be looked down on or even have people trying to turn me in for camming and having a child. If anyone hasany experience with this I am sure some of u do please help I am really worried about and don't want to have to explain myself to them over and over. I would also like to go to my kids career day even if I had to make up a career. I love camming and it has been really good to me and getting my life together. So I guess maybe if I say customer service but they may ask where what do you do blah blha blah. My response would be that I work for alot of different sites and companies because I am an independent contractor and I help with tech support, phone support shopping services billing etc. I would say I have clients but that wouldn't tie in to the whole writer/entertainer and If I say I write or blog they may ask where and want to see some blogs or articles I have written for people and It's just alot of different things that I could do but I am just worried and it is driving me crazy. AHHH please help
    Thank u bunches.

My thoughts exactly. I've never heard of a school needing that much information about a parent's income. That's just asking for a little too much info, IMO.

    Is it a private school?

All US 'lenders' are now subject to new regulations regarding income verification. While this extends to 'obvious' forms of credit such as auto loans, it also extends to less 'obvious' forms of credit such as apartment leases and tuition payments. To avoid the income verification requirement, you can simply pay the entire 6 / 12 months worth of rent payments, or the entire semester's / year's worth of tuition payments, up front !!!

Also, under the new regulations, bank statements don't really qualify as proof of income. The reason is that the actual source of incoming money is not documented. In the past, some would-be loan applicants have deposited money which was borrowed from another source, etc. as an attempted means to 'fake' their income at a level that was significantly higher than reality. For self-employed persons, the only 'iron-clad' proof of income documentation is past years' tax returns.

It is on the regular public prek application. I don't have a bank but I figured just showing them paystubs would work. I guess if I just hand them the paystubs tell them maybe I write articles and get a check from one company but I work for many different places. Idk I guess the writer would be the best way to go since it is on my return. I just don't know where to tell them my checks come from but I could say in the worst case scenario that I write adult fantasy articles or something. It's just it's preschool and it also asks how many hours I work I will have to again put fewer hours because I work mostly when my child is gone but I do work at times when she is asleep in her room of course. I just don't want the camming thing put on the application you know.It is free public school I think maybe they need the info on income to see if she qualifies for like free lunch and the head start thing which is low income preschool but she does not qualify for either of those.I was thinking to say I work for amazon but I am self employed and I get checks from the company but I write for alot of people because it is a crowd sourced platform.Would that work? Thanks ladies

Is it a private school? Is your child going to be receiving financial aid to attend the school? That is the ONLY reason a school would need that information. Otherwise it is none of their business. I don't understand why doctors/fitness clubs/etc. need that information either. I had to take my toddler to the ER a couple months ago and they asked where I worked and I just said "homemaker" no questions asked. If you say self employed they try to get more information out of you. We just got a fitness club membership and they wanted my husbands and my employer information and I just left it blank.

Ah. Okay that makes sense. However there are people who are truly 'self employed' and they just provide bank statements and their current tax document (ie. tax return statement or return). If you say that you are self employed and do freelance writing, your bank statement and current tax documents should do just fine. If they ask for pay stubs just say that you don't receive pay stubs because you are self employed. If you applied for general assistance like food support they need your bank statement, tax return, and a written statement of your earning. But if you already know that you don't qualify for head start or the free and reduced lunch program you or wish to not receive it you aren't obligated to provide that information.

Awesome thank u. It is like the register/sign up sheet and it does ask for my and her dads income it doesn't ask where we work I don't think it just says how many hours worked weekly how much earned monthly. It does say I will need to provide paystubs and I have those from sm the stub portion doesn't say streamate so I think I will be gravy on that part. As I said it says on my taxes writer/entertainer and the dancer/entertainer/ is in the same category. So do you think telling them freelance writer and maybe those stubs come from amazon or something will be sufficient and if they ask for further proof like from the companies I tell them I have provided them as much proof as they need they have the stubs to prove the amount I would write down and that should be all they need. Thank u smaddy so much I think freelance writer is the best way to go and show them the stubs if they ask where those came from is where I am stuck at lol.
