As self-employed cam girls, we don't have a supervisor or someone evaluating us all the time (thank god!), so we don't get regular reports or feedback telling us what we're doing well and where we "need improvement." (Although if we did, they would probably be hilarious. Strengths: Dong wielding, tit play, well groomed bush; needs improvement: avoid tangling hair, favorite red top is not actually flattering... LOL!) While I don't miss supervisors at all, I do kind of miss getting objective feedback on my "job performance" so I can adjust (or not) what I'm doing.
We all know that if you treat camming as a business, put in the hours, and do a decent job, in the *long run* you should have a pretty steady income, or even steadily increasing income. In the short term, though, we all see a certain amount of income fluctuation. Sometimes it's caused by something we're doing, sometimes it's caused by things that we can't control, and often we aren't even aware of the external things that cause our income changes. That means that if your income was high or low today, it's not necessarily because you did something right or wrong.
So, I was wondering if we could think of some non-monetary signs that you're on the right track, you did a good job today, or maybe you need to reevaluate what you're doing and try something else. Lately I'm finding it hard to read the signs.
For example: Not getting many trolls and beggars. This could be bad (I'm not working enough hours and/or my room is too empty, so I just don't have enough exposure to get many trolls and beggars), it could be neutral (I'm oblivious), or it could be good (I'm just that awesome, lol).
Another example: Not getting complaints about my rates. It could be bad (my rates are too low), good (my rates are just right), or amazing + bad (I'm just so awesome that no one would ever complain, BUT if that's the case why haven't I been charging way more?).
So... aside from income changes, how do you tell that you're doing something right? How do you tell if you're doing something wrong?
I'll go first. I think it's a good sign that when your stream gets cut off or you go offline, you get a bunch of emails asking when you'll be back online again (this could also be a sign that you need to post a schedule, though!).
It's also good if you get off your shift feeling happy and not overly sore.
