    Default best self tanners?

I'm a tanning addict and I've been spray tanning twice weekly for the past year and doing bed tanning. I had a great place that I went to back in LA that was only $100 a month for unlimited tanning/spray tanning. I've been researching places in London and it appears nothing like that exists here, I am going to have to pay per session and it's like $30-45, which means I would be spending about $400 a month to do regular spray tanning here and I just refuse to do that it's CRAZY. So I'm gonna have to switch to doing it myself.

I have tried self tanners but I always end up looking orangey in them-- I don't care if they're $100, if they can last me a month that's fine, I just can't look orangey at work. What's the best ones to use?

xen-tan you can get it online or at Ulta.

I did a lot of reading & research on the web. Xen-tan all the way. It works wonderfully. I put it on at night before going to bed. Then walk around my place naked cleaning up for about 30 minutes. Put on long sleeve t-shirt & pajama pants you dont care about getting stained up, although it isn't much. But it will rub off on sheets & you want to protect them.
When you wake up you will have a nice dark lovely tan. It is easy to apply & rarely streaks, only time I do streak is when I put it on fast & to tired to pay attention to what I am doing.
Been using it for 4 years & love it. Doesn't dry my skin out like the spray tans at salons did.

What have you used? I'm obsessed with the st Moriz instant mousse in dark. Only $11 at ulta. If you YouTube st Moriz vs st tropez, the results are practically the same. The smell is okay, plus 1-2 applications makes me soo dark and even in sunlight it looks good.

Hated sun labs. Streaky and orange and I even had the medium. There's a much better less orange and streaky knock off at Sally's called tan wise. It's like $8 and i like that one.

Oh and the banana boat one rocks! My whole pale family has used this for years lol it's a nice rich golden brown and it lasts. Almost forgot about that one and need to pick more up.

And for in between days: jergens, hemp bronzing moisturizer (Sally's)

I invested in a salon machine, I use it in my bathtub with the curtain closed. You can buy the color online and mix to the shade you want(it's all tan just different levels). I spent a couple hundred on a used one and around $7-$11 for the mix, I get 2-3 full body sprays out of every bottle. I don't get streaks or splotches, it's a fine mist that can be sprayed in all directions. I've had mine for about 8 years now, I haven't had to replace any parts or maintenance. I also bed tan, but the spray gives a added bump to my color.

Tarte Brazilliance. It is like $50 but I found it worth it. It's really natural looking and you can control the depth of the tan from a lighter bronze to a deep bronze. I am also no expert at sunless tanning, so if I can apply it without streaks or problems, I think it is easy to use. The tan lasts about a week. It comes with an application glove sponge thingy that works well and I think that is what prevents streaking. My bottle of it lasted well over a month, a little goes along way with this product. The smell is also pretty nice, some kind of coconut or tropical scent.

I use xen tan in my face (bought it at either Nordstrom or Dillards I can't remember). I love the texture because I peel sometimes from Retin A and its the only lotion that will completely hide flakes under make up. I never wear it at night because it gives me a head ache though. It doesn't smell bad, but it smells. I use Hemp brand on my body bc my body is way darker than my face and the hemp is a gradual tanner vs. the xen tan which has instant dark color. I honestly don't LOVE either one though bc I tan SO much better in real UV light. I know its bad though so I try to use the fake stuff also.
I've read good things about some Lancome and Clinique tanners too.

I bought some St Tropez tanning mousse because it was at Boots and it was the only brand I recognized. It's OK, I don't feel like I see much of a difference, but I've just put on one application. God I miss my tanning salon! OOOOOOH. I loved that place it was open from 9am-9pm and 2 minutes from my house, so wonderful. Oh well.

Thanks for the recommendations though ladies! I'm going to do some research into the brands you mentioned and see what I can find here in London...

If you go to a large Boots you should be able to find most brands, if not Selfridges

Fake Bake was always my preferred brand and when i last stripped i had a lady who did mobile spray tans come do me and my housemate for £10 each at our house. I can't remember her name but depending on where you are located it might be an easy option.

I love Lorac, you can read about it here. It's on the expensive side and I am a cheapskate but I pony up for this most willingly. Be sure to use the glove, though.

I use QuickTAN by Body Drench bronzing spray. You can get it at Sally's Beauty Supply for like $20. I go tanning though, and only use it to tan my face. It immediately shows color so it's easy to apply evenly and there isn't the orangey tint that most self-tanners leave. I have been using it for a year and won't even try anything else. So cheap and works great!

Hi babe i use St Tropez - the mousse one in DARK. really awesome rich colour, it doesn't go orange, however after maybe 4 or 5 days it starts coming off in high sweat/high friction areas (between boobs, back of knees etc). best tanner ive used in terms of colour though

^yep!!! that is my exact problem with St. Tropez! I love the color but it comes off and looks spotchy, in high sweat areas and also like bra straps and whatnot...

Lately I've been using Fake Bake Flawless spray and it is amazing! It smells great, dries super fast, is easy to apply and leaves a great dark tan. The only caveat is its a little messy, you need to do it in the tub or over a towel. It sells at ulta for like $35, but you can get it on Amazon for only $15. They have two formulas, original and "Flawless Darker".

I've gone back to mystic tanning I did self tanning for a while but doing my back was a bitch and I had a housemom complain about it to me and clients complain about my tan looking fake. I have super pale skin but I love being super dark as I feel like it just makes me look leaner and thinner, and I couldn't get to the color I wanted and have it look natural with self tanner. Since I've gone back to, 3 mystic tan sessions a week and 2 bed tanning sessions, no one has complained. And for me it's less stressful and the product is better-- the first few nights I stayed with my bf I thought he was going to have a heart attack when he saw his beautiful, expensive white sheets stained with self tanner...

Quick tan is really good for getting you dark kinda like zen tan. Both are hard as hell to scrub off. I like norvelle. It's what they use at salons to spray you. they have one called one that tans you in 1 hour( which is great if I'm tired and don't wanna do the whole ritual on my nights off) You really have to be versed in spraying yourself if you use the one. It gets all over the damn place. When Jwow had one out ( I don't know if she does still) I used it and liked it. Mostly I just use the norvelle cream and spray over the top with the spray and it makes you really dark. I used quick tan with it last time because that stuff makes you DARK.

Ok, so I almost bought one of those rec. above, I forgot the name, it's a mousse from Ulta. Standing in line, @ the checkout, they have those mini size prods. They had a Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs, in a tube form tho. It says water resistant, has anyone tried it? I know in one of the SH spray threads, it's supposed to rub off, but I was thinking maybe I could get a spray 'makeup set' & spray it on, to make it stay better.
I also have @ home some Jergen gradual ones.

Yea. Thanks Nikk! I tried a tester when it 1st came out (the lotion) & I liked the color..when I bought the trial size @ Ulta, it saved me $ from buying an expensive self tanner.
+ I hate going thru the whole shower, scrub, etc

OMG I just had to share.. i'm probably so late on this but I'm canceling my tanning membership now I've started using Sally Hansen's spray on tan and the fake tanner from VS!! They literally make you so tan and for way cheaper than any tanning beds or spray tans. I highly recommend!! I like that they don't make you orange either just a nice tan shade. I use the tan shade from the sally hansens plus the VS tanner and it makes me really dark.
